Peak View Ranch 2026 Sale

Page 1

Welcome To

Peak View Ranch’s Annual Production Sale.

Each year we have an educational forum in conjunction with the open house viewing of the sale cattle. Everyone is always welcome whether they have purchased previously in the sale or not. We cover different topics as they relate to the needs of cattle producers. Our goal is to not only serve as a seed stock producer but also a support resource on topics from veterinary care to genetic selection. This year we will have a two hour stockman’s school demonstrating epidural use and prolapse and dystocia management.

After a great complimentary lunch, we will offer presentations on the sale lots, Shorthorn and Red Angus genetic use, and soil biome information as it relates to range improvement. The format is very relaxed and built for a come and go agenda. Always remember you are welcome every April at our open house.

The bulls we offer are designed to be and create cattle that require minimal maintenance and problems. They are selected for calving ease from cow families that for generations have calved and performed in southeast Colorado with very minimal interference or observation. The steer counterparts will gain rapidly with tremendous carcass value. Whether you sell calves in the fall or retain ownership they will offer as profitable of a product as can be found. Complete data collection including ultrasound scan information, scrotal circumferences and birth, weaning and yearling weight EPDs to name a few are provided. All bulls have genomically enhanced EPDs. In addition all bulls have passed a complete fertility exam performed prior to the sale, so you can turn out with complete confidence that your purchase is ready to go to work for you.

We offer free board and care until May first. We also offer free delivery if within 300 miles. If you live outside that radius, we will cap delivery to central points within the US to $500.00.

We look forward to seeing everyone on April 11th for our Open House and remember the auction follows on April 14th at 7:00 PM (Mountain Time) on CCi LiveOnline. If you can’t make it feel free to contact me for other arrangements to view sale cattle.

Sincerely,

The Leone Family Peak View Ranch Rick, Trish, Gabri & Val Leone 719.263.4321 - peakviewranch@hotmail.com 1050 County Road JJ - Fowler, CO 81039 www.peakviewranch.com

SALE CATTLE PHOTOS BY Abigail Thornton Photography

Red Shorthorn bulls bred to red cows produce red calves, red Shorthorn bulls bred to black cows produce black calves.

Shorthorns improve docility, fertility and cutability.

Shorthorns offer more heterosis when bred to black cows than Angus or red Angus. That extra heterosis provides up to 23% more pounds at weaning.

British breed cattle such as Shorthorn or Red Angus improve marbling and that can produce extra premiums on the grid when selling fat cattle.

Feeder cattle with a known history of carcass quality demand a premium when marketed.

Red cattle are considered to be more heat tolerant and are the most prominent color world wide.

Only Junior heifers selling in Peak View Ranches production sale are eligible for the futurity class at the Colorado State Fair. Champion futurity heifer earns a 500 dollar cash premium.

Lot 1 ::

We are offering our entire Pen of 5 bulls that were Reserve Champion Bull Calves at National Western Stock Show. The entire pen carries genomics to ensure profitability, calving ease and marketability. Blaze was our lead off bull for our pen for good reason. He has been a standout since birth. His dam is a docile, exceptional milker with excellent udder quality by Quietman. He is equally docile. His PERFORMANCE is balanced and rivals any composite or breed within our sale.

Lot 2 ::

We chose Bonfire to represent our program in the E.D.G.E. Show. He has an exemplary EPD profile that is hard to find with a real world contemporary look that is putting the Shorthorn breed in a competitive advantage in the beef industry.

Lot 3 ::

Spark got a lot of attention and is on the front cover because of his abundant eye appeal. He also has an exceptional GENOMIC PROFILE, is extremely sound and balanced, and offers all the quality a herd sire should possess.

Arson’s dam is a beautiful female we purchased from Leveldale. She has produced females that won National titles. Take a look at this young BALANCED EPD PROFILE bull. His sire was Reserve Champion Bull at Fort Worth. These cross over cattle are where the breed is headed and he will move phenotype and genomic value forward simultaneously

Element has a lot to offer like lot 4. They are both bulls that will improve structure and PHENOTYPE but give nothing up in terms of genomics. His sire was Reserve Western Region show bull of the year and goes back to Danny D. Another great candidate to create progeny with eye appeal and genetic relevance to the beef industry.

COLOR PRODUCER, we like all our ranch females to be solid red and provide bulls to commercial cattlemen that provide solid red or black cattle. Our show heifer program does produce color, and every year we get calls for a bull to produce color. Here is one that will do that, He also with his pedigree has a ton of natural eye appeal.

Fall Heifers

We have committed our fall heifer program to creating the most competitive junior heifers possible. We do not sell heifers at any other event or time than our production sale each April. Peak View Ranch sponsors a futurity class at the Colorado State Fair. Only heifers selling in our annual production sale are eligible. The Champion Heifer wins a $500 cash prize in addition to other state fair premiums for the Shorthorn Show. This is a great opportunity to earn a little back on a junior’s purchase. Additionally, semen is available on all collected Peak View Ranch herd sires at no charge for breeding purposes on purchased heifers. Peak View Ranch does retain the right at buyers convenience and sellers expense to two IVF collections on heifers selling in our production sale.

and

Choice of Commercial Heifer

This group of heifers come from the heart of our replacement heifers. All that British Shorthorn Red Angus crossbred F1 females can offer is in this pen. They are designed, and older contemporaries have proven to be money makers. Their genomic profile is balanced and ideal in it’s make up. They have received all their pre-breeding shots and are ready to turn out. Buyer can take all three or choice.
