Program BEHIND THE
Cattle Come First I built my career behind a camera, photographing bull sales, donors and some of the most influential cattle in the industry. It gave me more than a career—it gave me a front-row seat to great cattle and the people who raise them. I PAID ATTENTION. Over the years, the eye I developed behind the camera began shaping the cattle I wanted to raise. I knew what I want-

The photograph that opens this book is S33 taken with my first full-f rame camera. A cow that changed my cattle. A camera that changed my photography.
S33 THE CORNERSTONE. My freshman year of high school, Dad gave
and influential females whose impact con-
me the opportunity to choose two bred heif-
tinues today. Several cows in this book trace
ers from his herd for an FFA project. I chose
back to S33.
P36 and P44. S33 was in the belly of P36. S33 was the first cow I flushed. I believed in her, invested in her and she kept proving me right— producing champions

built for more. I purchased Ooh La La from Dad’s pasture sale in 2013. She was the first heifer I truly owned and cared for that took me to the winner’s circle at a major show. She was named Champion Maine-Anjou Heifer at both the American Royal and NAILE and Reserve Show Heifer of the Year. But her greatest impact came after the backdrop. Today, four direct daughters remain in the herd. She had the look to win—and the kind to last.

INTENTION IN THE CROSS. I’ve always liked crossing breeding cattle with show-steer genetics—with intention. That combination can add just a little more look, presence and personality. Wonder Woman is exactly why I believe in it. She’s unique to look at, is functional and milks like a cow should. Her influence continues through daughters and Last Of My Kind, a high-Maine herd sire we’re proud to stand behind. THE LOOK IS DIFFERENT. THAT’S THE POINT.

When I flushed Ooh La La to Net Worth, the goal was to create Maine-Angus females with the look, power and functionality to build around. That cross produced some of the best females in my herd, and Dolly is a perfect example. A functional cow with the versatility to produce outstanding High Maines, MaineTainers and Maine-Angus cattle. One cross. Endless possibilities.

IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY. Dirty Dancing’s first calf, F02, has built a production record of her own. A donor with sons and daughters that have risen to the top, she continues to add another generation to one of the most influential cow families at CR. Satin Sheets is proof of what she can do.

Boat was a female I knew I wanted to build around. Her look and presence were undeniable, backed by a proven cow family that had already produced at the highest level. From the beginning, I believed she had the kind of presence, power and maternal potential to become a donor and build around. She brought me back to the show ring, gave me purpose and brought the Steck family into my life—a relationship that grew from cattle into partnership and family. Today, her daughters

THE BULLS Lacey’s creativity gave Caffee Ranch it’s identity—from developing the CR name to
designing the logo that represents the Caffee family’s work. Her influence is woven into a brand built on generations of powerful, productive cattle bred to make a lasting impact. Each March,
she manages the annual bull sale which carries that vision forward, offering bulls backed by the maternal strength, performance and longevity that define CR. MATERNAL STRENGTH. BUILT TO LAST.
