again, I’d like to welcome you all to the 10th Annual Foxy Lady Sale. There’s no way around it, mother nature has had her way the last few years and we are facing a lot of drought conditions within the midwest. Due to conditions within the United States the commodity prices are as high as they have ever been and thankfully the cattle prices have followed suit. With the liquidations happening due to the drought we are in the driver seat to see more upward trend of starting to rebuild the cow herd numbers within this great nation. As culling is getting stricter in many herds this is the perfect way to refresh the herd with young, new, vibrant genetics. We are very fortunate to obtain enough feed put up to continue on for another year. Talking with the other cosignors on the sale we all agree we need to be as efficient with our breeding programs to make these cattle as efficient and cost effective that we can. With this group I will say we put our best foot forward in making these cattle as easy keeping, broody, and functional while maintaining the maternal look we strive to have as cattle producers.

Once again I feel we have assembled an excellent set of bred females with the bar getting set higher and higher. We definitely have an elite number of heifers that could go on and be the cornerstone of breeding programs for many herds. I can say for the Felt’s and the cosignors, we have been stricter about raising the bar that we will display for you come November 26. These genetics are as fresh and current as the industry provides without sacrificing the need for functional and profitable characteristics. The Foxy Lady Sale Group has put into focus the need of the customers emphasizing docility, maternal traits, and longevity. It is hard to get everything AI bred for this sale but the herd bulls that walk behind these heifers are of the highest quality that come from top breeders throughout the country.

I had the chance to purchase a few bulls from WCS last year with them running behind the Foxy Lady’s in mind. Merlin was the lucky one that attended the sale and did a great job picking out the bulls. Unfortunately this heifer didn’t stick to AI, but with the quality of the clean-up bulls it might be even better than what the AI calf could have been.

If you ask Merlin what kind of cows he wants to keep at the farm, the first answer would be a baldy. After you get past the baldy part the exact description he would give you is an exact replica of this peach. I can’t argue with him at all, because she is a great prospect for someone. This is the type of heifer I like to keep or find to make my top end bulls every year for the bull sale. She is complete, big, stout, massive, and easy fleshing. Make sure you don’t overlook her on sale day because someone is going to look smart come next fall with her calf.

There are a few things that are a guarantee in life; taxes, road construction in summer, and Perseverance making great females. The maternal strengths this heifer has are amazing. Well she didn’t get shown, but I am kind of regretting it at this point because her quality is high. I can’t say enough good things about her mother on terms of flushing every spring (averaging 20+eggs) and breeding back along with raising a top notch calf. Now when you analyze this girl, she is whistle-fronted, flat shouldered coming back into massive depth and rib shape. Then she’s in the top 25% for CE and top 10% for WW and YW EPD. Plus she is sired by the great Mainstay bull who is deceased. Graham Blagg saw her sisters in production this summer and he agrees these are the kind of females to build a program around. Finally the color in the sale. This quiet beauty was succesly shown at the Nebraska State Fair winning her age division.
