At first glance, Red Gentry 2280 is the standout of the pair – big, stout, tremendous capacity and volume. She’s got that show heifer look we all want in our show barn.

But, MARK MY WORDS, Red Gentry 2281 (the younger of the two) will catch 2280 by sale day! 2281 has all of the pieces to be just as good as her sister. Although she’s slighty greener at this time, she may be better-designed though her front one-third.

Enough show ring talk, we all know that Gentry 363 has produced top sellers for many breeders, most recently Bollum Family Shorthorns and Berg Shorthorns. These two heifers are breeding pieces and this is a buying opportunity to take the quality of your donor pen to the next level. I’m not smart enough to predict which Gentry sister will be the better producer in the long run. So here’s my best advice: study them hard and pick the one YOU like!

Gentry363

Gentry 363 was a two-time All-American, won her division twice (as a calf and as a big heifer) at both Louisville and Denver, and was NAILE Reserve Grand Champion of both the Junior Show and the Open Show. Plus, she was named 2014 Show Female of the Year, Junior and Open divisions!

The donor of Lots 4A and 4B heifer embryo matings produced a heifer calf (from an embryo purchase) that sold last fall for $26,000. And, we’re hearing they have another heifer on the ground this year that’s even better!

Revival Sale History is Max Rosa Family History

A flush of Homedale Max Rosa sold in the first Revival Sale in 2002 for $4,300 to the Mindemann family and produced Mindemann Max Rosa 310. In 2008, a flush of Mindemann Max Rosa 310 was offered in the Revival and purchased by John Hagie of Cyclone Trace for $4,500. CYT’s flush of Max Rosa 310 mated to CF Solution produced the great CYT Max Rosa 9111 (pictured left) who sold to Jordan Krall for $35,000. Max Rosa 9111 was 2010 NJSS Grand Champion and NAILE Grand Champion in both 2009 and 2010.

A number of full sibs to this eye-catching, sweet natured female have made their way to champion photo backdrops. HEIFER PREGNANCY

This heifer pregnancy by Aviator from the up-and-coming donor for Green Castle Shorthorns of Iowa may very well be the “sleeper” of the sale, and here’s WHY – CYT Max Rosa Magic 2115 is the full sister to “rock star” donor CYT Max Rosa 3123, who produced a trio of sale-topping daughters for Schrag/Nikkel Show Cattle.

Aviator sold in the 2005 Revival Sale and 18 years later there’s still GREAT DEMAND for his daughters and semen, both in short supply, due to his numerous national champion daughters who have become extraordinary breeding females. (Here’s a tip: 2 units of Aviator semen are Lot 51!)

PVF Ruger 17C was purchased to be a cleanup bull. After one calf crop, we realized he is a herd sire that can really make an impact on our herd! Celine 3130 is a 10-year-old cow that looks like and mates like a really productive 5-year-old. She just keeps getting it done as the lead female of our donor pen.

• Offered by Armstrong Farms, Saxonburg, PA

• Offering 3/4 semen interest and full possession.

• Retaining one-fourth semen interest.

HEIFER EMBRYO PACKAGE 10

Now to my favorite story. There was some “back and forth” hesitation about whether Ruger 2066 was ready to show at the 2022 NJSS in KC. We took him, and I’d say Reserve Grand Bred & Owned Bull kicked off his show career quite well! He went on to earn Division Champion honors at NAILE and Cattlemen’s Congress and was a contender at both shows.

Ruger 2066’s power of bone and muscle, and ability to stride fluidly makes it evident that he is a complete sire package. The lesson to be learned is, when you breed one that you think has potential don’t hesitate to step up and take him to the next level. (Lesson learned!)

On picture day, Ruger 2066 was 45 days out from showing at OKC, and he looks even better now! Ruger 2066 is one of the best young herd sires available this spring.

At 2019 NJSS in Tennessee, Lilac 1820 earned Reserve Senior Heifer Calf Champion in a very competitive fall division. She produced the great Cobra Kai, purchased by High Ridge Shorthorns and Cech Farms. As you can see from her photo, this 4-year-old female combines tremendous balance and style and, most notably, an impeccable udder that’s picture perfect for a beef cow.

Lilac 1820 is a granddaughter of the great CYT Lilac 718T (also the granddam of the young sire Currency featured on the previous page).

Lot 14/14A sell as a pair, and we’re breeding the cow to BFS LCCC AFLC Direct Deposit 2254, 2023 Cattleman’s Congress Reserve National Champion Shorthorn Bull. See him on page 22. Mark my words, Direct Deposit is just getting started – get on board with him now!

Now, let’s do some serious math. $30k for 2104. $33k for 2105. What will the Lot 16 Heifer Pregnancy sell for on April 15?

Add it up... you are buying a future show heifer , plus a future donor with much of the road ahead already paved, plus you get to name her with YOUR herd prefix!

It will be a BARGAIN to acquire the full sister to these two amazing, young Lady Crystal donors. As they say at Belle Point, bargains come in ALL price ranges!

Well, well, well...this is what I call a “NO BRAINER” lot! Do you like Lady Crystal 2104, the roan heifer purchased last year in the 2022 Springtime Revival by DeLisle Farms for $30,000? Or, do you like Lady Crystal 2105 , the white heifer purchased in the 2021 Fall Revival by Neil Christenson for $33,000?

They both have become exceptional producers with excellent calves at side – so it’s a draw!

BRED COW 22

AF VF CARRIE JANES GIRL 059 ET

Five-year-old Little Miss Jalane bought the first Carrie cow from the Naylor Family of Missouri, and she made the decision that “Carrie Jane” was a much better name for this cow family.

• Offered by Vaughn Farms, Maxwell, IA

• AI bred to Hill Haven Fire Storm 28C/female semen (4248466), due 9/21/23.

...and Carrie Janes produced our promotional bulls Fast Track, Fast Forward, and Final Destination. The cow family consistently produces big-ribbed cows with great udders. This cow is no exception!

Lot 22 comes directly from the heart of our herd. She is huge ribbed, impeccable at the ground, and ultra clean through her jaw.

We think the Hill Haven Fire Storm heifer she is carrying will be something special!

Fast forward 30 years and the Vaughns purchased from the Aldens the last Carrie Jane that Jalane had shown...

BRED HEIFER 23

DAISY’S EVE

Bred Heifer from the Millbrook Daisy family carrying a CONFIRMED HEIFER CALF by Worldwide

• Offered by B Rae Co Farm, Blairsburg, IA

• AI bred to Little Cedar Worldwide 1979 (4290865), due 6/6/23. Confirmed heifer calf by ultrasound.

• Retaining one flush at seller’s expense and buyer’s convenience.

We purchased the dam of Eve (and her twin Noelle) at the 2020 Fall Revival Sale. She is a maternal sister to Millbrook Fireball and has been an incredible addition to our growing herd. She did a wonderful job raising her twin daughters, and is doing the same good work with her current heifer calf. Eve has an incredible disposition; she is quiet, broke to lead and loves attention. She is thick-made, structurally correct and has a lot of width. Eve and her confirmed heifer by Worldwide would be a perfect female to start a herd for a youngster or family!

Mona Lisa 216 produced winning show females through the years and we decided it was time to promote her to “donor.” This is the second female from her mating and SULL Red Reward. We are super excited to see what the future will bring for this heifer and her siblings who descend from the classic line of K-Kim Mona Lisa 34L ET. We can’t leave out that WHR Poppin Girl 2R01 ET is her paternal granddam. Mona Lisa 2214 is a beautiful roan heifer that looks good coming or going. This striking heifer continuously catches my eye every time I look out over the pasture. Her allure goes back to the Ten Queens cow family that has been so successful within our program and for numerous other dedicated and well-respected breeders – Bill Rasor and Rick Hogue, specifically! Ten Queens females have consistently produced winners in the show ring by a multitude of sires. The maternal background of Charisma Queen is highlighted by the great MAV Charisma, with the genetics of the highly reliable DF Waco a little deeper. We believe the Boardwalk genetics on her topside are what make Lot 28 unique and sure to create longstanding favored status in a progressive breeding program.

That being said, this stout Long Look daughter is a deep-sided, flat-topped, square-made female with incredible muscle and power coming from all sides. Lot 40 comes to the Revival FULLY-LOADED with the genetic potential of GREAT COW FAMILIES: Picture Perfect, Mona Lisa & Sara Rose!

A purchase from the Fall Revival Sale was the start of the Sara Rose cow family for us and it was a good decision that has resulted in the creation of several excellent females through the years. This young Worldwide daughter is already forming many favorable traits including depth and width of body. She will only get better as she continues to develop. We foresee a bright future for her!

The ORIGINAL MATTIS is an own daughter of the ORIGINAL ROSE: Ka’Ba Rose T90!

• Pasture exposed to Studer’s Homegrown 36H (4313102) 11/1/22 to 2/15/23. See sale day update for confirmed breeding status.

If you’ve been in this business awhile, of course YOU know about Mattis and her sister Mirage. They were the hottest females going in the early years of the Revival Sales! Both are daughters of the original Ka’Ba Rose T90 and there are multiple “greatest cow families” built from their genetics. (Check your old Revival catalogs!)

Mattis 108 is a superb “new generation” of this line – a bona fide herd builder! Byland breeding on the topside, bred to our herd sire Studer’s Homegrown for her first calf. He has been used successfully on first calf heifers and his first calves look promising – easy doing, eye appealing, the front pasture type. As you may know, we are busily building our new place in Oklahoma and I suppose we should be keeping this bred heifer. But you’ve gotta sell the good ones to keep your program moving forward. Six generations of Leemon/Jordan Shorthorn breeding have taught me that lesson well! This beautiful female has been developed to go to work for you – now!

You may recall that the full sister to Lot 42 was the “cover girl” of the 2019 Revival Sale. She was purchased by Kolten Greenhorn to be a competitive show heifer and a foundation Red Reward x Missing Mirage female for his very competitive Junior breeding program.

Like Kolten’s heifer, Missing Red Mirage says, “LOOK AT ME!” This heifer has the eye appeal and presence to make a great show heifer, and she knows it! The Red Reward combination has produced numerous winners in the show ring and this fall born heifer has the same potential for success.

Lot 44 is a daughter of the great Easy Rider bull out of a Maternal Made daughter that Jay showed as a commercial Jackpot Heifer quite successfully. Her maternal granddam was 4th Overall at the always very competitive VCCP Show in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Lot 45 is a granddaughter of LCCC’s maternal genetics treasure, Little Cedar Weston Mary, created from the vintage semen of Weston Dynamo who was known as the “maternal powerhouse” in the 1970’s. She’s the cowman’s kind and has made a lasting impact on the breed!

Revival

REVIVAL BUYER/SELLER AGREEMENTS

For all lots in which future fulfillment is a factor (ie. retained rights and retained percentage ownership), the Revival provides a written agreement between seller and buyer. Prepared by an attorney, these agreements document the original sale terms in case of a dispute. The original, signed agreement is filed by the Revival Sale.

REVIVAL EMBRYO PACKAGE TERMS

All embryo lots are guaranteed to produce at least one pregnancy, or one replacement embryo will be provided. Replacement claim must be made within a calendar year from purchase date. Complete settlement must be made in order for embryos to be released. Shipping arrangements and costs are the responsibility of the buyer.

Contact the consignor directly within 30 days of the sale to make shipping arrangements for embryo purchases. Consignors cannot be expected to store embryos for you longer than 30 days unless you have personally made arrangements with them to do so.

HEIFER PREGNANCY INSURANCE

The Revival encourages buyers of pregnancy lots to invest in pregnancy insurance. The policy covers a live birth and the first 49 days of life at the cost of 13% of the purchase price. For heifer pregnancy insurance, contact Jeanne Conover, Conover Insurance Services, 515-491-1335 by April 24, 2023.

DNA GENOTYPING & GENETIC TESTING

A DNA genotype is utilized in establishing parentage and in determining the presence of a genetic condition. Animals do not have to be DNA genotyped or free of a genetic condition to be registered. However, if an animal becomes an A.I. sire or a donor dam all required genetic testing must be completed and a DNA record must be on file with ASA prior to registering any progeny.

Recognized genetic conditions that require DNA testing are explained on the ASA web site: www.shorthorn.org. Genetic conditions “free” (F) and “carrier” (C) that have been reported to the ASA are continually updated on the website. Buyers are urged to consult the ASA web site for the most up-to-date list of test results for all genetic conditions.

Genetic conditions of individuals and donors, as known at press time, are noted within the pedigrees of individual animals. If genetic testing of sale animals is in progress, test results will be reported on the sale update.
