WELCOME to our annual spring bull and female sale! Thank you for taking time and looking through the offering. You will see some changes to the sale this year that we are very excited about. The main one being, it has moved to the farm, our main priority is less stress on the bulls and heifers, we feel this will help.

Next, NEW to this year will also be the selling format, we are going to be doing a bid board style sale. Bid board style makes it easier on both you and us, we can take bids on cattle before the sale when you stop by to look at them or on the 21st. We will be more than happy to help explain over the phone or on sale day how this process will work.

Mother nature has taken her toll on us, and doesn’t look to be giving us a break anytime soon. We have run out of time to picture more bulls and females, seems the weather was not in our favor this year! If we get a nice day before March 21st, you are more than welcome to stop out and take a look at this years offering, the door is always open. We’d love the opportunity to go through the cattle with you on a personal basis, so if you have questions we can answer them, plus this gives us an opportunity to learn more about your operation and what you are looking for when selecting bulls to turn out. As with any year there are things that happen to make it a year to remember. 2018 & 2019 have blessed us with some exciting opportunities. Certified Angus Beef (CAB) began to celebrate 40 years of the brand by selecting 40 barns across the U.S. to paint the iconic CAB logo on. We were selected as #24 of the 40 barns to be painted. We want to thank CAB for this opportunity, as we sure enjoyed being part of the celebration. At the start of 2019, my parents Rod & Mary were selected as honorees for the 2019 Watertown Winter Farm Show. We appreciate the Chamber and Ag Committee for selecting them to dedicate the 2019 show to.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

All cattle sell according to the standard terms and conditions of the American Angus Association and the American Simmental Association.

VOLUME DISCOUNTS

We will offer a 5% discount on the purchase of 2-5 bulls, with the purchase of 6 or more the discount increases one percent.

BREEDING GUARANTEE

Our bulls are guaranteed to be fertile, reproductive and sound in accordance with the rules of the American Angus Assoc. & the American Simmental Assoc.

All bulls selling for $3,000 or more are guaranteed against breeding injury for the first breeding season. A breeding season is defined by a 90 day period from turn out. If a replacement bull is available, he will be provided, or if buyer prefers, credit toward one bull will be given in the following sale, less salvage value of injured bull. A veterinarian must diagnose all injured bulls. Please notify us as soon as possible should injury occur and prior to the injured bull being sold for salvage. ALL CLAIMS MUST BE MADE BY OCTOBER 15TH, 2019.

Any death or injury after the animal is sold is at the buyer’s risk.

LIABILITY

All persons attending this sale do so at their own risk, legal or otherwise for their safety or the behavior of the animals. The owners, auction service, and sale staff assume no liability for property loss or any accidents that may occur.

• If their are multiple bids on cattle, you will have the opportunity to increase your bid. If you are the only bid on the bull/female at the end of the sale, they are yours. Bids will increase by $250.

• If you are bumped out on a certain animal and want to move to a different one, you are more than welcome to do so.

• These bulls are grown not fattened, we feel that to insure longevity of your herd bull purchase, we grow the bulls to help keep their shape when you go back to pull bulls after they have been breeding cows all summer. By growing them, their feet should be good for a longer period of time, as well as less maintenance, means more money in your pocket.

EPD REFERENCE Calving ease direct (CED), is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf heifers. It predicts the average difference in ease with which a sire’s calves will be born when he is bred to first-calf heifers.

Birth weight EPD (BW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit birth weight to his progeny compared to that of other sires.

Weaning weight EPD (WW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit weaning growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires.

Yearling weight EPD (YW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit yearling growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires.

All-Purpose Index (API): Evaluates sires for use on the entire cow herd (bred to both Angus first-calf heifers and mature cows) with the portion of their daughters required to maintain herd size retained and the remaining heifers and steers put on feed and sold grade and yield.

Terminal Index (TI): Evaluates sire for use on mature Angus cows with all offspring put on feed and sold grade and yield. $Values are multi-trait selection indexes expressed in dollars per head, to assist commercial beef producers by adding simplicity to genetic selection decisions.

A $Value has meaning only when used in comparison to the $Value of another animal. For example, just as with EPDs, variation in $Values between animals indicates average expected differences in the relative value of progeny if random mating is assumed and the calves are exposed to the same environment.

Beef Value ($B): an index expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for post-weaning and carcass value compared to progeny of other sires. The $B value combines the contributions of $F and $G.
