Atlanta Academy believes in developing innovative thinkers and adaptive learners who are flexible and prepared for the global future. Our mission is to give every student the individual attention they need to succeed.

Many thanks to Kate T. Parker and Kerrieann Axt for their generous contribution of photography for our Annual Report.

This year begins my 19th year as Head of School at Atlanta Academy and, as I tell my students, I have the best job in the world. A student body of 345 beautiful children, an incredible faculty and staff and wonderfully supportive parents make the magic happen. Last year we focused on moving forward, growing as a community, and reaching new heights, and we indeed did! We saw a significant increase in enrollment and celebrated the highest reenrollment percentage in years. In the history of our school, we have never seen admissions numbers like this. Our students and faculty continued to do what they do best — learn together. Atlanta Academy students completed integrated projects that brought lower and middle school students together to experience learning across grade levels. Each grade continued to explore their world through enriched educational experiences which broadened the mind. Teachers continued their professional development through workshops such as Project Based Learning, 21st Century Learning, Apple Classroom, Orton Gillingham, and several national conferences. Many of our classrooms received an “extreme makeover” making them a 21st Century classroom for collaborative learning with flexible seating, and forward-thinking instruction and assessments. With greater emphasis on science, math, and technology through our expanded STEAM curriculum, we believe that we are preparing students today for what we know will be a profoundly different tomorrow. Our student life program got a boost as well, as we have expanded our afterschool programs and offered additional summer programs to provide a wide variety to our diverse population. To celebrate the momentum of our school, our students and our community, it is with pride that I present the 20172018 Annual Report, a snapshot of your support and its impact on Atlanta Academy. Each year, we dedicate this publication to our Gladiator Community for your continued support of Atlanta Academy goals, values, and mission. We continued to grow in our three major development efforts as well. The Gladiator Fund is the cornerstone of Atlanta Academy’s fundraising efforts. Last year we raised more than $160,000, enabling us to invest in resources and provide engaging learning opportunities for our students.  Apogee is a State Tax Credit Scholarship Program that offers a chance to donate a portion of income tax to financial aid for eligible Atlanta Academy students. Last year, the Gladiator community redirected more than $33,000 in state tax liability to Atlanta Academy need-based scholarships. Finally, in the Spring, we hosted our first ever Boosterthon Gladiator Run. I can honestly say that this was one of the best weeks of the year! The students laughed, danced and lip-synced their way to an unbelievable $40,260 profit, doubling our goal of $20,000. It truly was an amazing experience for the entire Gladiator Community, and we can’t wait for next year's run. Each development effort further confirmed that we can accomplish so much when we work together. These are exciting times at Atlanta Academy as we continue to grow and provide an excellent, well-rounded academic experience for your children.  We are counting on your enthusiasm and support to continue our dream. On behalf of our Board of Trustees, our faculty and staff and our students, thank you again for believing in us. Our achievements are a direct result of your commitment to your children’s education and future success.

Atlanta Academy participates in the Georgia Private School Tax Credit program through Apogee, a state-approved student scholarship organization. Georgia taxpayers can make a private donation and receive a dollar-for-dollar Georgia tax credit by redirecting your tax liability to support Atlanta Academy's Financial Aid program. Apogee believes that no child's educational opportunities should ever be limited by their financial situation. This year, more than $33,000 was donated by Atlanta Academy families benefiting our scholarship program.
