Message from the HEAD OF SCHOOL

The 2016-2017 school year was a monumental year of reaching new heights for Atlanta Academy. In the 17 years since our school was established, we have focused on building a vibrant community of dedicated faculty, motivated students and involved parents. Since 2007—when we made the move from temporary facilities in Sandy Springs to our own nine-acre campus here in Roswell—we have devoted ourselves to creating state-of-the-art educational facilities where our students can grow and thrive. What an exciting moment in history! With your help, we completed the last two major projects of our visionary campus master plan: creating a new classroom wing and redesigning our performing arts spaces. These capital improvements maximized the use of our entire 90,000 sq. ft. facility, allowing us to modestly increase enrollment while maintaining our small classes and tightknit Gladiator Community. This past year, Atlanta Academy hosted several major development efforts, each impacting our school in a variety of ways. The Apogee Scholarship Fund provided need-based scholarships, allowing every student the chance to experience an Atlanta Academy education. The Parent Association hosted a successful Denim and Diamonds Gala and raised money for our music program. Our Spring Chair Campaign generated over $20,000 in donations and provided us the opportunity to purchase permanent seating for our auditorium. Finally, the Annual Fund, our most important and impactful ongoing development effort, saw overwhelming support from our Board of Trustees and faculty, as well as from our families. As if all of this was not enough of a blessing, our Innovation Center, funded by The Goizueta Foundation opened this year. The Annual Report is dedicated to you, our Gladiator Community, acknowledging your tremendous support of Atlanta Academy and our mission and values. Our achievements are a direct result of your commitment to your children’s education and future success. Thank you so much for each and every contribution this year. As we look ahead to the 2017-2018 school year, we encourage all levels of giving. Every single gift counts, no matter how big or small. Ever Upward COMMITMENT TO OUR FUTURE

Thanks to the generosity of Sally and Vince Burkett, Atlanta Academy's new creative space, The Burkett Family Performing Arts Wing, opened its doors this year. The wing includes a state of the art auditorium, complete with a sound booth, a Cast & Crew room, and enhanced music & movement classrooms. The new auditorium allows us to hold school-wide Morning Prayer assemblies, Parent Association functions and many other special activities. This addition has brought our entire Gladiator community together, provided opportunities to build student confidence, and discovered inner stars that were waiting to shine on the stage.

Atlanta Academy participates in the Georgia Private School Tax Credit program though Apogee, a state-approved student scholarship organization. Georgia taxpayers can make a private donation and receive a dollar-for-dollar Georgia tax credit by redirecting your tax liability to support Atlanta Academy's Financial Aid program. Apogee believes that no child's educational opportunities should ever be limited by their financial situation. This year, more than $20,000 was donated by Atlanta Academy families benefiting our scholarship program.

Chair Campaign

Thanks to our Gladiator Community of parents, grandparents and more, Atlanta Academy had a successful spring campaign to install permanent seating in our auditorium. Our six-week campaign culminated on the last day of school and together we raised over $20,000, enabling us to purchase our goal of 350 chairs for the auditorium.

Atlanta Academy Academic Achievements NATIONAL SPANISH EXAMINATIONS Congratulations to our students who took top place in the National Spanish Examination.
