Some whales can have very thick blubber, like the bowhead whale. Their blubber layer can be 19 inches thick.
Blubber is under our skin – a nice, thick layer of fat.
Blubber helps me bump, jump, thump, and pump through the ocean!

When I was born, my blubber was thin.
After drinking my mom ’ s thick, creamy milk my blubber got thicker!
Lots of my ocean friends have blubber.
Seals, manatees, whales, and dolphins all have a special layer of blubber.
But some ocean mammals have no blubber!
They have another way to stay warm.
Otters have thick waterproof fur that keeps them warm.
Fish are cold blooded We don’t need blubber to stay warm.
