Election Day is behind us - now what? Maryann Tyrer will lead a discussion about being a person of faith in the aftermath of a contentious election, dealing with uncertainty and changes, and hopefully keeping holiday visits from becoming political shouting matches (6:30 PM in the Parish Center)

Interfaith Thanksgiving Service
This year, we have the privilege of hosting this annual gathering of people of many different faiths and traditions, all coming together to give thanks to God. Join us for this service of prayer, reflection, and song A reception will follow so that we may get to know our neighbors. (7:00 PM in the Church)
Advent Evening Prayer and Reflection
Join us for one or all of these prayerful evenings of song, psalms, and prayers, focusing on the Advent themes of Hope, Joy, and Justice. A light reception will follow each evening. (6:30 PM in the Church)
Parish Council Minutes

The Parish Council met on October 30, 2024, and discussed the following:
Feast Day/ International Food Festival recap – it was very well attended and successful!
More than 80 people attended the History of Yorkville; people enjoyed the presentation.
This year ’ s Parish Theme Banner arrived and will be hung on the front of the church at the beginning of Advent: “All Are Welcome in This Place Welcome Home”
Jennifer DeSpirito gave a year-end financial update We are planning for two big projects next year: 1) repair/replace the church roof (top and both side roofs) and 2) renovate the Parish Hall and include an elevator It will be necessary to have a capital campaign
Liz’s Pantry opened on Sat 10/26. While not many people came to collect food, those who did were grateful and it made a difference Community outreach is underway, and the pantry’s next monthly distribution is 11/23.
The Green Team is planning for next year ’ s celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Season of CreationLaudato Si’ They are connecting with other parishes
A bake sale to raise money for the various ministries in our parish will be held on Sunday 11/24 after the 10 AM and 12 PM masses, and prior to the 3PM concert
The first monthly French Mass will be celebrated at 6:30 on Sunday 11/10

Children’s Liturgy of the Word:
Children’s Liturgy of the Word will take place during the 10 AM mass on November 10, 17, 24, and December 8, and 15.
K-8 Religious Education and Preparation:
• Religious Education for Grades 1-8 is 10-11:55 AM in the Parish Center (406 East 80th). If you still need to register, you must come early to do so – no children can be dropped off if not registered!
Adult Sacraments of Initiation (RCIA):
• Have you ever considered becoming Catholic? Or are you a baptized Catholic who has not yet celebrated First Communion or Confirmation? You and your questions are warmly welcomed! Come and share the journey with others. Please contact Maryann Tyrer to discuss the process! We meet weekly, 1:15-3 PM in the Parish Center (406 East 80th).
Adult Faith Formation Opportunities:
• Group of Guys Men’s Faith Sharing group meets every Tuesday at 12noon in the Parish Center, and all men are welcome to join.
• Adult Faith Formation resumed on October 6 after the noon mass, and Theology Thursday resumed on October 3. Visit our website for more information!
• Theology Thursday - Join us on November 14 at 6:30pm in the Parish Center (406 East 80th St.) for a non-partisan discussion of Faith and Politics After a Contentious Election, led by Maryann Tyrer.

Prayer After an Election God of all nations, Father of the human family, we give you thanks for the freedom we exercise and the many blessings of democracy we enjoy in these United States of America. We ask for your protection and guidance for all who devote themselves to the common good, working for justice and peace at home and around the world. We lift up all our duly elected leaders and public servants, those who will serve us as president, as legislators and judges, those in the military and law enforcement. Heal us from our differences and unite us, O Lord, with a common purpose, dedication, and commitment to achieve liberty and justice in the years ahead for all people, and especially those who are most vulnerable in our midst. Regaining the use of the parish hall would be such a blessing for the parish. It would also be the last item to be completed from “the Plan” that our former Parish Manager, Michael Ward and I developed in 2015. These last nine years have been that the work will be done by 2029. Why is that year so important? It is the 150 celebra on will be able to take place in a new parish hall, so that aPer so many years, our parish and school communi5es can grow into and use the new and renovated facili5es we have so pa5ently waited for.
