We would like to share an important update from Bishop Berg, along with a message of gratitude, hope, and trust that God's will is truly best in what lies ahead.

As many of you know, Fr. John is a missionary Priest here from Nigeria on a five year assignment. The visa process for religious purposes (R-1) is approved in 30 month sections. An application is then submitted for approval for the second 30 months. The Diocese has submitted the application for Fr John's next 30 months, but all applications from Nigeria (and other countries) are currently on hold. If this does not change, his ability to work will expire this June. The Bishop is personally making every effort to address this situation and we hope that Fr John's application will be processed and approved. While this is difficult news, we remain a people of faith. We continue to pray, to hope, and to trust that God is at work in this situation and in Fr. John’s journey.

In case Fr John's application is not processed in time, the Bishop has sent Fr. Iffiok Inyang, a member of the Missionary Society of St. Paul, to serve our parish. Fr Iffiok arrived last Friday and we ask you to extend to him the same kindness, openness, and support that define our St. Columba community, as he comes to help and minister to us in this unique time. We give heartfelt thanks for Fr. John and his extraordinary ministry at St. Columba. He is a true blessing to our parish, and his impact on this community is incredibly special. As we move forward together, may we remain united in prayer and confident that the Holy Spirit is guiding our parish every step of the way.

With gratitude and hope, St. Columba Parish
