8th Grade Graduation

As 8th grade graduation nears, it is a time filled with both reflection and anticipation. It is a time to recall where we have been and to hope for where we dream to go. This is the culmination of dedication and it is their time to shine; to light the way with their courage, fortitude, spiritual and academic achievements that they have been committed to for the past years.

Many of the 19 students embarking on this new chapter in life, have been with us since early elementary school St Columba has been as much a place to grow academically and spiritually, as it has just been a place to grow up. For these students and teachers alike it has become a family and like many families, they have learned that although they may have individual strengths and talents together their sum can serve a greater good. These students have grown together to become a cohesive unit, learning to accommodate one another’s talents and to lift each other up to overcome challenges. Teachers and staff have planted seeds and the students have learned how to cultivate many of their gifts and to combine them into a beautiful garden, rich with variety and sweet with the fruit of the spirit.

With about half of the class of the graduating class of 2024 heading on to Covenant Christian Academy and the remaining students to DHS and Animas High Schools respectively, they will undoubtedly bring their excellence to wherever they go. Many of our students have already been named to leadership roles for freshman class. And as history has proven, many will be leaders academically, socially and athletically as they journey through high school always building on the foundation they received and built together at St. Columba.

Though they may be heading in different directions, they will all leave from the same starting point of excellence and our prayer is for every one of them to continue to model the philosophy of integrity, truth, honor, kindness, and compassion that we as school family have so diligently worked to install. The graduating class of 2024 exemplifies the very philosophy of St. Columba. These students have excelled spiritually, academically, independently, and together as a committed team. The 19 young gentlemen and ladies moving on will undoubtedly blaze a trail of moral and academic aptitude.

To the Graduates as you set forth to meet new challenges, new people and to learn new things about yourselves, always remember that the foundation you have received at St. Columba is one of stone and you have an incredible opportunity to build upon that and become pillars in our community and in the world, setting examples for others.

Just as St. Columba has left its mark upon each student, so have they left their marks upon our School. It is with much pride and excitement that we say congratulations to the graduating class of 2024. May the compass of the Cross placed in your hearts continue to guide you on the path of Christ throughout your journey in life.

END OF THE YEAR ASSEMBLY

Please join us at 8:15 this Tuesday, May 21st, for our end of year assembly. We will be recognizing those receiving St. Columba Awards, saying a blessing over our graduating 8th graders, and more.
