It is the mission of the Park & Recreation Department to plan, develop, maintain, preserve and provide quality programs, services and facilities to meet the needs of residents for a safe and clean park environment within resources available.

Non-Resident Fees

City of St. Cloud property tax payers subsidize the cost of operating facilities and programs as well as the maintenance of City Parks. Participants and organizations who live outside the city limits of the City of St. Cloud are asked to contribute these to costs through Non-Resident Fees. Non-Resident Fees equal 20% of the fee, prior to sales tax.

Financial Aid Grants

We want everyone to be able to come out and play! Financial Aid Grants are available to assist those who may have difficulty paying for Recreation programs. Aid is granted on a sliding scale determined by family size and family income (income must be verified by last year’s income tax form). Please submit the financial assistance form, along with your tax form and a registration form for your selected activities. Volunteer Opportunities/Adopt a Park Program

Looking for opportunities for you, your family, or your organization to give back to the community?

The Park & Recreation Department needs you! One-time volunteer opportunities abound year-round in our 98 park and recreation facilities throughout the city. Projects may include special events staffing, park clean ups, painting projects, weeding/raking, planting projects, and more! This software is designed to be intuitive to navigate and easy for residents to use. In addition, it is mobile friendly, allowing users to search for community activities and events, register, and remit payment even from a smartphone or tablet.

What You Need to Know Before Setting Up Your New Account Parents First When creating a new account, it is extremely important to enter the parent's/adult's information first. The first person on the account created will be the default payer/head of household and must be an adult (18+). The primary email address entered into the parent's/adult's account will be your username going forward.

Text and Email Opt-In The Department will be sharing information about class cancellations and facility closures via text message and/or email. Please enter your cell phone number and select your mobile carrier to receive important updates instantly. Your information will never be sold and will only be used to send you alerts about the topics you select.

Username Your username will always be your email address. You have the option of adding additional email addresses where you wish to receive important updates.

Password Passwords need to be at least 8 characters in length and include at least 3 of the following: capital letter, lower case letter, number, special character. If you have forgotten your password, please select "forgot password" to reset it at any time.

Emergency Contact You are required to add at least one emergency contact to your profile. Be prepared to enter the emergency contact's first and last name, relationship to the person, phone number, and email address.

How to Create a New Account: 1. Select Login/Create Account in the upper left corner, then select Create Your Own. Fill out the required information.

To receive text alerts (i.e., class cancellations, facility closing), indicate your mobile carrier next to your cell number. a. On mobile devices, select Account in the upper right corner and click Sign Up. 2. To receive important notifications, opt-in to receive all communication types (courtesy notifications, critical announcements, upcoming events).

3. Additional household members (spouse, children, etc.) may be added at any time in your Account Settings. Keep your entire household on one account!

4. When you've found an activity, make sure to select the correct account member before adding it to your account.

5. Browse our catalog for our facility rentals for your upcoming events and make a reservation online!

Special Events Skiing/Sledding/Snowshoeing Sundays The Riverside Park Shelter will be open for public use on select Sundays with the fireplace roaring to warm up between your activity sessions this winter! No registration is required. Snowshoes may be checked out for free use during this time. Supply is limited and first come, first served; a valid driver’s license will be required for check-out.

No registration is required.

Discover the fundamentals of snowshoeing with expert guidance from Fitzharris Ski, Bike & Outdoor instructors, then set off to explore the park and fine-tune your technique! After your snowy adventure, warm up with a cozy cup of hot chocolate by the fireplace in the shelter!

Pre-registration is required; maximum 20 participants.

Snowshoes will be available for use to participants at no additional cost.

Lake George Warming Shelter The Lake George Warming Shelter will be open for public use during the times listed below. The shelter will close for adverse weather or poor ice conditions; please tune into WJON or check our Facebook page for weather-related or ice condition closures. The starting date is dependent on weather and ice conditions and will be announced on social media.

Don’t have skates? Thanks to businesses, community groups, and resident donations, we have lots of skates available for free use during warming shelter hours! We cannot guarantee all sizes available.

Sledding Hills & Ski Trails Grab your friends, family and sleds and head over to Riverside Park or Calvary Hill for some winter fun on our sledding hills! Riverside Park also offers a 2.5k loop ski trail with both flat and rolling hill terrain, groomed for skating and classical skiing. There is access to parking and restrooms; the warming house facility at Riverside is also available for rent.

Ice Skate/Sled Donations Have a pair of skates you aren’t using anymore? Sleds in the garage with no one sliding? Share with your community! We would love your donation of gently used skates and sleds to share with those looking for some winter fun! Skates can be dropped off in the Whitney Recreation Center lobby, or at the Lake George Warming Shelter (donation box available once the warming shelter opens). Sleds can be placed in the “Sled Shed” at Riverside’s sledding hill.

Park Shelter Rentals Thinking about renting a space for a family reunion, birthday party, reception, or other group gathering this summer – or next? St. Cloud Park and Recreation has a park shelter perfect for your group, large or small. We have 3 park shelters available for rent and are currently taking reservations for 2024; 2025 reservations open January 2nd, 2024. Facilities and their dates available for rent are listed below. KinderGym (Ages 0-6) Available for toddlers through preschoolers, KinderGym is a great way for your child to burn off some energy while interacting with other children. We provide a wide variety of play equipment, including a small bounce house, hula hoops, tunnels, hopper balls, and more. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Spring Youth Volleyball (Ages 6-12) Bump, Set, Pass! Coaches will be teaching the fundamental skills and basics of match play. Whitney Sports Complex, Dog Parks, & Gardens Spanning 142 acres along the scenic Sauk River, Whitney Park is the sports headquarters of the St. Cloud Area.

Whitney Sports Complex can host a wide variety of sporting events, including soccer, softball, baseball, lacrosse, and ultimate frisbee. The complex consists of 8 slow-pitch softball fields, 2 fast-pitch softball fields, 2 baseball fields, 8 soccer fields, a tennis court, and a dog park. Whitney also offers a 1.5 mile paved trail that encircles the park.

All organized sports or walk/runs are required to have a permit. For more information on setting up a walk/run or to reserve field space for practices, games, tournaments, or special events, please call or visit us online. *Virtual tour, scheduling, and pricing available online.

Off-Leash Dog Parks Looking for a place to play with your four-legged friend?

Purchase a permit tag at City Hall for one of our three Off-Leash Pet Exercise Areas (Dog Parks) in St. Cloud!

Yearly permits are valid June 1st through May 31st and can be used at any of the City’s Dog Parks. Purchase an annual permit or try a daily pass at the entrance to each Off-Leash Area for $2. Dogs must also be licensed by the city where you live and/or be up to date on rabies vaccinations. Please help us keep our parks clean; you must pick up after your dog.

Munsinger and Clemens Gardens Weddings & Photography Looking for an outdoor venue for your wedding or photo session? Check out the Munsinger Gardens Special Events Area, which holds up to 50 participants and also offers a wonderful backdrop for your wedding, engagement, family, and senior portraits.

Ceremonies at the Special Events Area, as well as photography permits for both Gardens, are scheduled between late-May and mid-October between 4pm-7pm on weekdays; between 10am and 7pm on Saturdays; and at 10am on Sundays. Reservations are still available for 2024, 2025 reservations begin on January 2nd, 2024.
