Porcelain is a 100% natural material made from clay, sand, and feldspar that contains a high percentage of a mineral known as kaolinite and other mineral oxides, which are responsible for the strength and durability of porcelain.

This mixture is put into a kiln and fired at high temperatures up to 2000°F. The result is an incredibly dense material that is nearly impervious to stains, heat, UV rays, and scratching.

Porcelain colors come in numerous shades. Advanced digital imaging techniques allow vivid graphics that mimic the most beautiful marble, other natural stones, wood, metal, or any desired pattern to be applied directly to the porcelain slabs by the manufacturer.

Come to one of our Moderno showrooms to view our full 5’x10’ slabs, or let us bring samples to your project site to select the porcelain color.

Our specialists perform an in-home consultation to determine the project scope.

ENGINEERING We take precise measurements with 3D laser measuring technology to produce a CAD file that provides a project plan to set accurate expectations. Once approved, this ensures a seamless fabrication and installation process.

FABRICATION Our craftsmen use Moderno’s innovative fabrication technology to cut the porcelain slabs to exact specifications of the project plan. Our proprietary assembly method distinguishes Moderno and allows for flawless results.

INSTALLATION Every project is custom and has been checked to the project plan. Our project specialists provide quality assurance with on-site coordination. We ensure every project installation is America National Standards Institute (ANSI) compliant.

What porcelain finishes does Moderno offer?

A

Polished and matte. Polished porcelain has a gloss that opens the space creating a lighter and brighter feel. A matte finish conceals the light reflection efficiently for a clean, refined look.

Does Moderno offer multiple edges selections?

A

We use mitered edges on all our porcelain applications. The two porcelain slabs come together at a 45-degree angle to create a seamless edge.

What is the thickness of porcelain?

A

We work with 6mm or 12mm porcelain depending on the application.

Will my countertops be 6mm thick?

A

Moderno’s proprietary assembly method, combined with NASA developed honeycomb substrate of fiberglass and aluminum, makes Moderno countertops and vanities the strongest in the market. The standard sizes are between 1.25 to 2 inches or any desired thickness.

Does Moderno operate in commercial spaces?

A

Yes, we work with developers, general contractors, architects, and interior designers to provide large-format porcelain in commercial areas.

Does Moderno offer sinks?

A

Yes, we fabricate integrated sinks made of porcelain. We also offer two stainless sink selections in various sizes. The Top Zero sink is attached flush to the countertop surface for a sleek, vanishing-edge appearance. The Kraus faceted sink is stainless steel and top mount designed for convenience, offering easy installation.

Does Moderno offer Invisacook induction cooktops?

Yes, Moderno installs Invisacook beneath your 12mm porcelain countertop. Using advanced electromagnetic energy, Invisacook heats pots and pans through the porcelain and creates a safer, cleaner cooking space. You can keep your kitchen looking aesthetically appealing without sacrificing flavor!

How is porcelain eco-friendly?

A

Porcelain is created with zero-waste manufacturing. It’s a man-made material created from responsibly sourced natural raw materials like clay, sand, and feldspar, the three most abundant minerals on earth. During production, no waste or byproducts are created, nor the use of plastics. Porcelain also can be recycled through basic grinding and used as clean fill for more porcelain.
