What Are Your New Year’s Resolutions?

For many of us, a new year means new goals. If that sounds like you, look no further than your St. Charles Parish Library.

Spend More Time with Family - We have events designed for families throughout the year. This month we have Family Game Time, Movie Night, and Construction Time that are perfect for families to attend together!

Save Money - Have we mentioned that everything you check out from the library and all of our events are free? And you don’t have to worry about overdue fines if you use our online services like hoopla, Flipster, and OverDrive.

Learn Something New - We offer activities for all ages. Come to one of our events to see if you like it! If you’d rather take a class, check out Universal Class to learn something new (www.myscpl.org, click Research, then click Online Learning).

Flying Needles This knitting and crocheting group is open to new and experienced crafters. Come to learn a new craft or share your talents!

Cookbook Book Club Enjoy the camaraderie and cuisine. Everyone chooses a different recipe from a selected cookbook and prepares it for the following meeting. This month’s cooking theme is recipes from church cookbooks.

Painting Twists R Painting Twists is for adults who have a crafty side. This month we will be following along with Bob Ross for a paint-along to complete one of his classic paintings.

Lifestyle All Levels Vinyasa Yoga In this class, you will perform movements with breath, focus, and mindful meditation. You must be able to get up off the floor. Bring a yoga mat.

Cooking at the Library Visit the library if you feel like broadening your cooking knowledge, learning a new technique, trying a new diet, or just learning more about food and cooking.

Take a trip to the cooking section when you visit the library—it’s in the nonfiction area, around call number 640. We also have cooking DVDs, including multiple seasons of America’s Test Kitchen.

Our online eBook services, hoopla and OverDrive, can help you find a cookbook anytime, anywhere.

Flipster is our online magazine service. Read your favorite magazines through Flipster and stop paying for subscriptions! We have magazines on many topics, and our food and cooking magazines include Bon Appetit, Clean Eating, Gluten-Free Living, Food and Wine, and many more.

We host two Cookbook Clubs monthly; everyone chooses a different recipe from a selected cookbook and prepares it for the following meeting, discussing the recipes as they share their dishes.

The Paradis Cookbook Book Club meets on a Friday morning and the East Regional Cookbook Club meets on a Monday evening.

Wireless Printing with PrinterOn Using our wireless printing service, PrinterOn, you can send documents, photos, and more to library printers from your personal computer or mobile device from inside or outside the library.

You can send your documents to be printed from the “Print, Copy, Scan” page of our website or by using the PrinterOn app, available for Apple and Android devices.

Once you send your document to print, visit the circulation desk and let us know that you need to pick up what you sent to the printer. We’ll verify your information and you’ll be on your way.

The service is available during the library’s open hours. Black and white copies are 10¢ and color copies are 25¢.

Legends of the Night Sky: Orion tells the ancient story of Orion, the Hunter, as an animated tale.

Learn about Pluto, see actual images taken by the New Horizons spacecraft, and explore the craft’s next target, Ultima Thule.

Learn how Orion fell in love with the goddess of the Moon, Diana, and see his epic battle with Scorpius, the Scorpion.

Join Coyote, a confused but witty character adapted from American Indian oral traditions, in Earth, Moon & Sun.
