Students, parents, and educators are invited to two Back to School Fairs in September that will showcase easy-to-use tech resources designed to make homework and school projects easier for busy parents and students.

West Regional Library Saturday, September 8 from 10 am to noon

Attendees will enjoy refreshments, activities, and giveaways while browsing information tables about these resources as well as learning about afterschool activities for children and teenagers.

An American Marriage

Many library resources can be used when the library is closed and from the comfort of your home! Library staff will be on hand to provide hands-on demonstrations of these resources and how they can benefit busy parents and students.

The library also provides many afterschool activities and events for adults, teens, and children. Learn more about these as well as the types of things you can check out from the library for homework help or just for fun!

F C Cookbook Book Club Enjoy the camaraderie and cuisine. Everyone chooses a different recipe from a selected cookbook and prepares it for the following meeting.

Participants will share information about their recipe. This month's theme is contemporary mystery writers.

All Levels Vinyasa Yoga Vinyasa yoga is defined as movement with breath. In this one-hour class, you will perform a series of invigorating movements aligning the posturing with breath, focus, and mindful meditation. You must be able to get up and down off the floor. Please bring a yoga mat.

I " I David and Marieanne Arata collect early pressing irons and trivets—these ordinary, everyday objects have a fascinating history!

Mr. Arata will share this history during a presentation at the East Regional Library Monday, August 27 at 6 pm.

He will show a PowerPoint presentation of the collection while explaining the purpose and timeframe of select pieces.

There will also be some of the irons on display.

Are you a fan of jigsaw puzzles?

Join us at the East Regional Library Saturday, September 8 at 9 am for our first Jigsaw Puzzle Competition!

Competitors will compete against others—and the clock—to assemble a 300-piece jigsaw puzzle.

Hahnville Branch Tuesday, August 7 â–Ş 10 am

For the second year, the Friends of the St. Charles Library sponsored the grand prizes for the library’s annual summer reading program.

The grand prizes for the children’s, teen, and adult reading programs are a library prize pack, which includes an Amazon Fire Tablet.

Congratulations to everyone who completed the reading program, and thank you to the Friends of the Library for your continued support.

Summer Stargazing highlights the stars and constellations of summer.

One World, One Sky: Big Bird’s Adventure introduces young children to the wonders of stargazing with Big Bird and Elmo.

In Earth, Moon & Sun, you will join Coyote, a confused but witty character adapted from American Indian oral traditions.

They will join Elmo and his friend from China, Hu Hu Zhu, on an imaginary trip to the Moon and learn how it differs from Earth.

Coyote explores common misconceptions about the Earth, Moon, and Sun.

You will also learn to find your way around the summer night sky using the stars as your guide and that there are more than just stars in the evening sky.

Doors open 15 minutes before the scheduled showtime. Due to the unusual lighting conditions in the planetarium, no one is allowed to enter once the show has started. Please come early.
