We are open and ready to see you . . . The events of 2020 took us all by surprise; however, our amazing library team adapted to unexpected and changing situations and are ready to welcome everyone back to the library in 2021. All St. Charles Parish Library locations are open full hours. Meeting rooms and study rooms are available. Computers and Wi-Fi are open to everyone. We are also bringing back in-person events this summer! There are crafts and activities for children, teens, and adults, including outdoor storytimes twice a week. Check our online event calendar at www.myscpl.org, and keep reading this event guide to learn more. Registration is required for most events, and masks must be worn for indoor events. You can also visit us online for Programs To Go and Zoom events. Visit www.myscpl.org/summer for more information about connecting online. Your library card also works online. We have downloadable books, magazines, audiobooks, music, comics, movies, and more – all free with your library card! We are now fine free! We want everyone to feel welcome to visit the library to explore, learn, create, and connect. So please bring back your overdue items – no matter how long you’ve had them – no questions asked. R Event Registration Unless noted, all in-person and live Zoom events require registration. Registration opens 14 days prior to the event date. Register through our event calendar at www.myscpl.org. You can also call or visit any library location for help.

Wait list and no-shows Add your name to the wait list if an event is full! If you can’t make it, call us or cancel online so those on the wait list can be called. Registered spots will be held for 10 minutes after the event start time. Wait list registrants will then be admitted, space permitting.

Summer Reading Programs for adults, teens, and children begin Tuesday, June 1. SIGN UP online to track your reading at myscpl.beanstack.com or at any library location beginning May 17. Keep track of what you READ over the summer by logging minutes online or on our paper reading log. Read 360 minutes by July 31st to finish the program, receive your completion prize, and become eligible to WIN one of the grand prizes. Prizes will be available between June 14th and August 31st.

The St. Charles Parish Library is one of only a handful of libraries with a planetarium. Since its opening in 1977, our planetarium has entertained and educated thousands of people about the wonders of our universe. Planetarium seating is limited and registration is required. Register through our event calendar at www.myscpl.org. Call or visit any library location for assistance. Masks are required during planetarium shows.

Drive-Thru Kick-Off Drive on over to all of our library locations the first week of June for a brand-new way to kick-off our Summer Reading Program: a Drive-Thru Kick-Off! We’ll have everything you need to start your summer safari with us in a convenient drive-thru format. There will be special prizes and activities that you can collect at each branch, including a limited number of brag tags customized for each location.

End of Summer Celebration! Family Concert and Snowballs Help us celebrate the end of a successful summer with a family concert featuring Staci Gray! She’ll have your whole family singing and dancing along. Don’t be surprised if things get silly! Bring your blankets and chairs! Outside food and drink is allowed.
