FROM THE DIRECTOR

Welcome to This Murder Was Staged! When choosing this production, I asked the girls to give me suggestions of plays they would like to produce. This was one of their suggestions that had me laughing out loud many times on the first read through. I knew instantly that the girls would like it, not only for its humor, but also because it was very different from other plays that have been produced at St. Cecilia Academy. This new play, written by Patrick Greene and Jason Pizzarello, tells the comical tale of a director who is not very well like by his production crew and designers. He goes to extreme lengths to figure out what his crew really thinks of him and on this journey, we see many “interesting” characters give their thoughts about Sinclair. I hope while you are watching you feel free to laugh out loud and really come to enjoy these characters as much as I have.

To our lone guest performer, Caleb, thank you so much for being a part of the SCA theater family. I cannot imagine any other person bringing Carl to life like you have. To my 13 senior actresses – Emma, Grace, Hannah, Porter, Taylor, Eleanor, Charlotte, Brooklyn, Maria, Daira, Ella, Olivia, and Ivy, and our 3 senior crew members – Kaitlyn, Saba, and Annabella – thank you for your love of the SCA theater family! My first encounter with all of you was 4 years ago when I helped as a backstage mom for Little Women which led to me being your costumer for 2 ½ years and finally having the privilege of being your director during your senior year. I feel so blessed to have gotten to see your theater journey through high school and I cannot even express how much our theater family will miss each of you next year. Your guidance and leadership have truly shaped this family to be one of love and respect for each other. That is the greatest gift you can leave us to start your next life journey.

Thank you to the faculty, staff, and sisters, especially our principal, Sister Josemaria, our vice principal of academics, Sister Elise, and our fine arts chair, Amie Pike. I also would like to thank Crystal Kurek, director of our Jr. High theater program, for your

friendship and support. Lastly, I am grateful to my daughter, Mary Cecilia, for letting me share this experience with her and for my husband, Eric, who was instrumental in the set construction for this play.

Finally, I dedicate this performance to our 16 seniors in this production. Thank you for sharing your talent and friendship. You will always be considered a part of the SCA theater family. Be sure to come back and visit often!

Blessings,
