FROM THE DIRECTOR
While this is my second production, this is my first musical to produce as the new theater director at St. Cecilia Academy. I was excited to choose Hello Dolly! since this was the musical that I was student musical director of my junior year as a student at SCA. I remember falling in love with the songs, especially Ribbons Down My Back, and singing them repeatedly as we produced the show. I am excited to be a part of this classic production and serve as the director this time.
This play takes place in both Yonker, New York and New York City. Dolly Levi, the matchmaker of the story is set to help young couples fall in love, but at the same time she
has set her sights on Horace Vandegelder, a wealthy man who throughout the story is stubborn in his ways. While he spends most of the story yelling or arguing with other characters, Dolly knows all along that Horace is the perfect match for her.
Thank you to our guest performers – Alec, Caleb, Hudson, Jake, and Parker – we are so lucky to have as part of the cast. You each bring the perfect personality to your characters. To our 13 senior actresses – Annabella, Brooklyn, Emma, Charlotte, Claire, Grace, Hannah, Ivy, Mackenzie, Olivia, Porter, Shannon, and Taylor and our 5 crew members – Daira, Ella, Kaitlyn, Maria, and Saba – thank you for your leadership and love of SCA theater. Your journey through this program has been rewarding for everyone you encounter. Many prayers and blessings on your next journey beyond SCA!
Thank you to the faculty, staff, and sisters, especially our principal, Sister Josemaria, our vice principal of academics, Sister Elise, and our fine arts chair, Amie Pike. Thank you also to our musical director, Kyle Hankins, and our choreographer, Jasmine Dillion. You truly are the “dream team” and I appreciate all your hard work helping to produce this musical. Thank you to all our guest musicians. You really helped bring this story to life through music. I also would like to thank Crystal Kurek, director of our Jr. High theater program, for your friendship and support. Lastly, I am grateful to my daughter, Mary Cecilia, for letting me share this experience with her and for my husband, Eric, who has now been officially adopted as a theater dad.
Finally, I dedicate this performance to the St. Cecilia girls who worked so hard to create this timeless story through characters, your singing, and the hours of dance rehearsals. Your dedication to theater and your support of each other
is truly inspiring and I feel so blessed to have been a part of this production with you.
Sincerely,
Diane Meier
