Park Activity Guide

Winter/Spring 2025: January-April

Words from the Parks Director

One of the things I am most excited about for 2025 is the slew of new amenities opening up at St. Charles County Kinetic Park. Over the past few years, we have tried to re-envision the park. These efforts include renaming and rebranding the park from the Youth Activity Park to Kinetic Park, and adding one of the largest pump tracks in North America and a bike skills course. The next development phase includes new concession areas, indoor climbers, special event rooms, a new playground and splash pad area, and indoor and outdoor pickleball courts—all very exciting things.

As with any project, sometimes you have a vision and an idea of what is going to happen, and it goes as planned. Sometimes, things occur to change your best-laid plans. One of these changes happened recently at Kinetic Park. The department was contacted by the family of St. Louis Skateboarder Brayden Hudnall, who first started skateboarding at the park years ago. Now Brayden is a competitive vert ramp rider and competes across the United States. The family asked if we would be willing to accept a donation to build a vert ramp at Kinetic Park. The answer, of course, was “YEAH, let’s do it!”

With the financial support of the Hudnall family and the assistance of the St. Charles County Parks Foundation, we were able to purchase one of the largest vert ramps in North America from a private owner in Houston,

About the Parks Department

The St. Charles County Parks & Recreation Department was created in 1997 after voters approved a local use tax with the sole purpose of park land acquisition, development, operations, and maintenance. The department’s mission is to preserve natural and historic features in areas throughout the county for the use of future generations. Today, the department has 22 parks, 19 of which are open with three in reserve, totaling 4,403 acres of acquired park land. From historic homesteads to a skate park; from camping, hiking, biking, and fishing to weddings and educational classrooms, there’s something for everyone in St. Charles County Parks. For more information and specifics about each park, amenities, trails, and more, visit stccparks.org.

Texas. The ramp is 13 ft. tall, 50 ft. wide, with 11 ft. transitions and 2 ft. of vert. It was disassembled and trucked up to our park. Throughout October and November, we have been putting it together to get it fully operational. It has been a big task, but a rewarding one as we have seen this amazing amenity grow. We hope to have it open soon and look forward to hosting several programs and events in the future.

The St. Charles County Parks Department is excited to bring vert ramp riding to the St. Charles County area and know that it will be a welcomed amenity for the skating community and bring people from all over the U.S. to Dardenne Prairie to ride.
