Interested in global issues, diplomacy, foreign policy, and their relationships with local contexts? The world is becoming more and more connected, and those with the ability to move, speak, and work confidently in this complex environment are well positioned for the future.
The Major We take an interdisciplinary approach to the study of global issues. International studies majors gain an understanding of political and economic structures in the various cultures of the world and in different historical periods. Students study these structures from a variety of perspectives: historical, political, and economic.
The Classes Courses are designed to help students master the complexities of the contemporary, global world. Your foundation in historical and conceptual knowledge will grow through courses like “Modern Europe,” “Economics of Social Issues,” and “Intro to Comparative Politics.” Once you choose a theme of study, you’ll take specialized courses like “Modern Middle East,” “Nationalism and Ethnic Conflict,” “Revolution!,” and “Discrimination: Economics and Politics of Race and Gender.”
