CHEMISTRY AND BIOCHEMISTRY Do you like to work with your hands and use science to solve problems? Are you interested in becoming a doctor or pharmacist? Does experimenting with state-of-the-art instruments and discovering new things sound exciting to you? Chemistry is a gateway to many different and rewarding careers! Our program will prepare you for graduate school and ultimately a career in medicine or pharmacy, or for job placement upon graduation in chemical industries, medical device companies, biopharmaceutical companies, and more. Choose a core chemistry, an American Chemical Society (ACS)-certified chemistry, or biochemistry concentration. You might also discover a passion for becoming an educator or advancing chemistry through research! In addition to robust knowledge in chemistry concepts, we focus on developing career-ready skills that employers and graduate programs look for, including effective communication, critical thinking and analysis, and what it means to be an ethical chemist.
YOU WILL LEARN TO: • Practice scientific methods through project-based experimentation, with an emphasis on using modern instrumentation, chemical literacy, and green chemistry practices • Develop effective written and oral communication skills with the ability to transmit complex technical information in a clear and concise manner • Engage in course-based and other undergraduate research opportunities
