Through Economics departmental connections, I was introduced to organizations and institutions like the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs and the Sadie Collective, where I attended their annual conference supporting Black women in economics. These experiences allowed me to expand my network and ultimately led to my continued work and employment with both.

ADVICE FOR STUDENTS The professors at St. Kate's are a wealth of information. Ask them questions as often as you can. They often have connections throughout the Twin Cities to help with placement for internships or job shadows. You can start to network and build valuable experience long before graduation comes around.
I use my background in liberal arts daily. Healthcare is often siloed into specialties, but my role as an RN case manager involves looking at every aspect of the patient, from access to care and food, to transportation, to social support, to housing and much more. The liberal arts teach you to analyze situations from a well-rounded lens, which in healthcare can help to close care gaps and improve outcomes for our patients. – ALEX
