Second Hand Uniforms The availability of second-hand uniforms provides an opportunity for the School community to buy, donate, or sell on commission, a range of pre-owned items. Please note the supply of secondhand items varies considerably and a full size range cannot be guaranteed. When purchasing second-hand items, it is essential they are tried on, as there is no refund or exchange on second-hand goods.
The PFA Second Hand Uniform Shop is located behind the Dorothy Pizzey Centre and is accessible through the Wintergarden or through the pedestrian gate after Gate 3 on Heyington Place. It is open Wednesdays 1.00pm – 4.30pm during School terms. Uniform Care Please follow these instructions to ensure maximum performance of garments. Pullovers Hand wash or gentle/wool machine cycle in warm water with mild enzyme free detergent. Dry flat in shade. Drying may be finished in tumble dryer on low heat. Blazers Clean marks and crest embroidery with mild detergent using a soft toothbrush. A paste of cornflour and water left on overnight often removes greasy stains. May be dry cleaned. Dresses Warm hand wash or gentle machine cycle in mild, enzyme-free detergent, reduced spin. Gently pull into shape and hang in shade. Warm iron. Do not tumble dry. Skirts and Pinafores Hand wash in warm water using approved wool detergent. Do not soak or tumble dry. Clean spots with mild detergent using a soft toothbrush. A paste of cornflour and water left on overnight often removes greasy stains. Avoid frequent washing. Hang in shade to dry. Cool iron with steam. Skivvies Warm hand wash in mild, enzyme-free detergent. Do not bleach, wring or tumble dry as this will cause crest to crack. Warm iron, avoiding crest.
Bathers Rinse thoroughly in cold water as soon as possible after use to remove chlorine. Hand wash in cold or luke warm water using mild, bleach-free detergent. Do not soak. Gently squeeze out excess moisture and hang in shade. Do not roll up or store when wet. School Polo Top Cold machine wash in mild, enzymefree detergent. Do not soak. Dry inside out in shade. Do not tumble dry. Warm iron, avoiding crest. Crested Leggings/ Senior Rowing Zoot Suits Cold gentle machine wash, inside out with like colours in mild, enzyme-free detergent. Dry in shade. Do not use fabric softener, allow garment to lie on itself when wet, tumble dry or iron. Spray Jackets Fasten zipper and wash on cold cycle. Do not soak, wring, tumble dry, iron or dry clean. Hang to dry. Gymnastic leotards Hand wash in cold or luke warm water using mild, bleach-free detergent. A laundry bag is recommended in washing machines as lycra is subject to abrasive damage by other garments with Velcro or undone zipper fasteners. Hang in shade. Do not use tumble dryer or iron. Do not roll up or store when wet. Sun, hot water and strong detergent may fade lycra.
