The choir covers a wide range of different musical styles/genres! These weekly sessions will allow you to receive practical support on correct vocal techniques as you rehearse songs/prepare for performances!

These Open Mic Lunchtimes will allow students who study music, or students who have a passion for music outside of college to all showcase themselves!

Open Mic Lunches!

Whether you have prepared a cover or want to present original material, it is a safe place to receive feedback and encouragement from peers who have the same passion for music as you do!

You will make friendships, collaborate with new people and you will build your confidence/ ability to perform!

Music/Performance National Theatre Connections Contact: Keran Brady, keb@stbrn.ac.uk The group encourages students to participate in performing, directing, and learning about the technical aspects of performances. Open to all college students! You will gain confidence and build real friendships as you work in such a close-knit team with a real sense of community!

There are many upcoming projects, performances and films to be a part of!

World Development Sustainable Futures (Eco-Tastic)

Contact: Matt Warren mwa@stbrn.ac.uk When: Monday lunchtimes 12:10-1 Where: D104 If you are passionate about climate change, the environment and solutions to the climate crisis, this is the group for you!

Various projects will take place, from tree planting, to raising awareness, to planning projects to improve St Brendan's ability to be "zero carbon", to upcycling pallets into garden furniture and creating "bee friendly" gardens, the activities are endless! A great way to make friends and help the planet!

World Development CAFOD Young Leaders Contact: Ann Morgan amg@stbrn.ac.uk When: Monday at 1 pm or Wednesday at 12:10 pm Come along to whichever suits you!

Where: C103 This group focuses on international development - they look at issues such as third world debt, human rights issues, climate change, and its effects on developing nations. The Group looks at ways to raise awareness and funds for CAFOD. (Catholic Agency For Overseas Development).

There will be a trip to CAFOD HQ and training sessions from them on public speaking/project management. Great experience to boost university applications/CV's!

Bristol is a City of Sanctuary which means that it is welcoming to refugees and our College is the same. The group explores the issues behind what it means to be a refugee, and what we can do to help them!

College of Sanctuary

The course is supported by Bristol City Council and in the past has involved trips to City Hall for additional training. The group will improve your knowledge of Refugee issues, develop your public speaking skills, debating, planning and overall confidence!

Creative College Magazine - "The Pulse"!

Contact: Alice Bigge Student-run but supported by staff! Students are producing a multimedia/'online' magazine.

The project will provide you with excellent experience to talk about in interviews/uni applications. Especially if you wish to go into PR, Politics, Media, Journalism, the list is endless as you can tailor your writing to so many topics!

Develop your communication skills, build friendships and create a sense of community within the college. Through your writing, raise awareness of topical issues, promote events in the college, or divulge into any topic that you are passionate about. There is so much to write about!

Creative Portfolio Making

When: Wednesdays at 2:30 pm

A weekly supportive 'drop-in' session where students

can receive feedback/guidance/support from Jo whilst they produce creative portfolios. This will allow them to boost their CVs or prepare their university applications. Portfolios can cover a variety of creative courses/jobs whether that be Architecture, Game Design, Fine Art, Animation, Fashion Design,

many more areas!

Photography, Product Design, Graphic Design or

Creative Film Club Contact: Alice Bigge Students in the Film Club will be given access to free resources, allowing them to watch films and then engage in stimulating discussions as they review them! It is a great way to make friends, especially those who will have similar interests to you!

It will encourage your love of film, develop your oracy/debating skills and improve your understanding of how the film industry works!

Creative Writing and Reading

Helen and Colin run 4 weekly Creative Writing sessions to ensure that as many students as possible can attend!

These sessions run on Tuesday in B14 at 10:40, Tues in B18 at 1 pm, Thursdays at 10:40 in B17, and Fridays at 10:40 in B14.

Come along to whichever sessions suits you + get

The sessions will allow you to develop your passion

for creative writing in all its forms!

Students are encouraged to produce their own pieces of writing, they will build a personal portfolio, and can enter national competitions!

They may even get to talk to St Brendan's alumni who have experienced these top universities!

Help with UCAS applications, including possible events like The University of Bristol's Personal Statement Session Mock interview practice with staff in College and guest interviewers from industry and universities Support with admissions tests from subject specialists Masterclasses on specialist subjects - excellent content for personal statements etc!

We will arrange visits, trips and we will invite speakers into college! These events will be

exciting, informative and may open your eyes to specific careers you may have never thought of before! You will be given the opportunity to speak to people who may be doing your dream job! You will be able to put these activities on your personal statement, making you more employable and "interesting" in interviews in the

future!

Self Development Bristol Education Partnership Contact: Hetty Brown hbr@stbrn.ac.uk St Brendan's students have the incredible opportunity to get involved with the BEP! With a huge range of schools being given the chance to feel connected, there are loads of reasons to get involved: you will make new friends, increase your employability and improve your university application!

The BEP offers tonnes of opportunities including working on climate change events/projects, representing our college on the student board, and mentoring younger students in schools.

Budgeting for University Contact: Megan Bridge

students with four masterclasses on After Christmas, Megan will continue to provide budgeting! These will also be recorded and put onto the upcoming MS Teams Enrichment

page for your viewing.

These sessions will cover a range of topics such as understanding the student finance system, student loans, money-saving tips, managing debt, and how to use a credit card or

manage an overdraft!

These are such useful skills when navigating your finances for the first time (whether that be at university or not)! Importantly, these sessions are incredibly encouraging and reassuring!!

The DofE award is split into 5 sections at Gold level: volunteering, physical/skills, the expedition, and the residential section!

If you did not do Silver, you must undertake a further 6 months in either the volunteering or physical/skills sections.

Off The Record are a local mental health organisation. They run amazing groups for young adults/teens which focus on promoting positive mental wellbeing. Some of these groups include: social activist groups, book clubs, 1 to 1 mental health support, creative outlets, cultural support groups, the list is endless! Self Development Student Ambassador Programme Contact: marketing@stbrn.ac.uk St Brendan's Student Ambassadors are a team of students who assist at college events by offering support, encouragement, and advice to prospective students and their parents/carers! Events include college open days, school visits, Year 10 Discovery Days and Freshers Fest!

Events occur throughout the year, Ambassadors can help out at as many or as few as they like! It looks great on future uni/job applications and is an amazing way to make new friends!

This will improve communicative competence, oracy skills, confidence and fosters collaboration/teamwork amongst French learners!

This is a weekly group dedicated to exploring all faiths! It provides a supportive space to discuss all values, beliefs, thought systems, etc.

Members ask the BIG questions whilst they engage in respectful and enlightening discussions!

A great way to meet people of the same faith or make friends with those of different

faiths/learn more about all religions!
