We are proud to announce that Curtin University Dr Rachel Sheffield was one of the fifteen women inducted to the 2020 WA Women’s Hall of Fame on 8 March 2020 (Rachel is standing directly behind and to the right of the Governor Kim Beasley in the image above).

This special day, also marked the International Women’s Day, was officiated by the Governor Kim Beazley in recognition of the achievements of 198 women across a variety of sectors and regions with the inductees selected from eight categories: Community, Business, Health, Education, The Arts, Culture, Sport and STEM.

Congratulations to Rachel for her dedication and untiring contribution to the science education community in Western Australia since her work in secondary science education for over thirty years ago. As a founder STEMinist and an award-winning university teacher,

she provides leadership in WA, nationally and globally to promote STEMinist education which she founded in 2015 with colleagues from Curtin University. The goal of STEMinist is to increase the percentage of women in STEM professions by increasing the visibility of STEM women in the community and to empower students to engage in science and to develop STEM capacity in our new generation of female educators. Rachel’s initiatives and her contribution to university teaching and women’s science education will ensure lasting outcomes for her students and STEMinists.
