As I reflect on the past 25 years, I realize that some of those years went by fast, and others slow. There have been many changes along the way, and many things have stayed the same. The most visible change is in our facility and bull development area. Our first sale was held private treaty at the old hip roof barn, standing outside behind a board windbreak. It was cold as can be and we were hoping someone, anyone, would drive in! Bulls were not clipped, and no pictures or videos were taken.
After a couple years of doing that, we took our bulls to the Britton Sale Barn. Those were a couple of rough years, to say the least. On a positive note, several customers from our first sales are still buying bulls today!
We then took our bulls to the Aberdeen West Sale Barn with Kevin Larson. What started as 25 bulls selling in a Saturday bred cow sale eventually graduated to its own day with up to 65 bulls.
If you were around during this time, you will remember the herd sires that established our program and breeding philosophy.
• Stav Bullflex 509R was born in 2005 and his first sons sold on the 2007 sale.
• STAV Ironman 915W sons were in the 2011 sale.
• STAV Apollo 920W had sons in our 2011 sale.
• STAV Hitchpin 601S had his first calves on the 2012 sale.
• STAV King of Clubs 106Y sons were on the 2013 sale.
• GW Red Oak 295B sons were in 2016 sale.
• TJ Crossfit 570C and WINC Hoss 592C sons were in the 2017 sale.
• STAV Pipeline 4E, WS Certified E151 and Kinn Mega Wide 3316E started in 2019.
• WLB Prodigy 493H sons in 2022.
• CLRS Buddha 406J sons in 2023.
All aforementioned sires have created the performance-driven, commercial bulls or feminine, long-lasting females that are embedded in our pedigrees. Over these 25 years, we found the type of cattle that work in real world, commercial settings.
Other changes have occurred over time. For starters, we decided to no longer creep feed our calves about 10 years ago. Our development on feed is much slower today. We’re shooting for consistent, acceptable daily gains, rather than extremes. Our feed changes are a result of our observations, and our ultimate goal of trying to get one more year of usefulness out of our genetics for our customers, cutting feed and replacement costs at the same time. We truly believe over-conditioned bulls cost both you, the purchaser, and us, the seller, too much money.
Another big change occurred in 2020 when we began providing genomically enhanced EPDs and tests for homo black, homo polled and parentage on all sale bulls. Every year, we have a couple bulls that calve to their AI date but end up being out of a cleanup sire or a chute side mistake. Whichever it is, parent verification is important to us and our integrity as breeders.
Lastly, you’ll notice our red bull numbers are down. This is a result of listening to you telling us you want more black bulls. It is very difficult for us to completely get away from the reds. The cows we have left are very good, so we elected to incorporate their proven pedigrees into our
Commercial cattlemen’s source for functional, honest, and problem-free cattle.
black program. As a result, there are a few bulls that are hetero black and this is why. I believe an injection of outcross pedigrees in our black program is a positive thing and keeps our base broad. Eventually, we will make them homo black. We are not discontinuing the reds; they will still be a part of our future, just limited at this time.
Some things haven’t changed though. Every cow in the herd is registered, and data is turned into the ASA. We have been diligently testing for Johnes for 20 years. While I don’t believe anyone can ever say they are truly Johnes free, we have been so disciplined that if it does show up, the entire cow family is culled.
Another core belief that remains constant is the value of heterosis. We are fully aware most of our bulls go on Black or Red Angus based cows. Using a high percentage or PB Simmental bull is the maximum way to replicate heterosis allowing you, the cattleman, to get a 1/2 - 3/4 blood calf. We believe by providing YOU with a high percentage or PB bull, YOU will reap the rewards of Heterosis, not us. Just a note, all EPDs are not the same. When comparing bulls of different percentages average breed EPDs are different. This year, our bulls are 76% PB, 20% 3/4, and 4% 5/8 blood.
Lastly, we represent the cattle as they are. Our labor consists of myself, Owen and Liv, when she has time, along with a couple good dogs and some very good friends that lend a hand. Our cows are run as you would run yours. We use our own genetics and retain our own females. We do not use unproven genetics on unproven females to stack our EPDs. We take all our weights as close as possible to birth and adjustment days such as 205-day and 365-day Yearling Weight. Be careful when looking at adjusted weights; if WW and YWT are taken too early or too young, the adjustment extrapolates a fictitious weight. Owen clips all the bulls in November, and we take a few pictures in December. Pictures and videos are not photoshopped. Because of the limited time and labor, we do not run bulls in and re-clip and clean for videos, they are as they will be when you come and look. We are confident that you will like the animal more every day you own him and not be surprised by what he looks like when you come to walk bulls, or when we deliver him.
Stavick Simmental is committed to progress, and so inevitably, there will be changes in the next 25 years. We aim to produce sound, functional problem-free animals, but we all know things happen. If you have ideas, suggestions or complaints, please give us a shout.
The one thing that has not, and will not change, is the value of youour customers. Without your support we wouldn’t be able to continue this dream. We look forward to another 25 years working with you!
Thank you,
Mike,
PS: You will find a couple King of Clubs and Bullflex sons in this offering created just for this occasion! If you miss out now, you will have to wait for the 50th Anniversary Sale!

DOCILITY SCORES: We have been around these bulls a lot - from birth to Sale Day - and we represent them as best we can. Of course, there are always exceptions or situations that cause a bull to become restless or nervous, but we do our best to identify any individuals and have culled aggressively. IF docility is your number 1 criteria, please contact Mike or Owen to confirm or help guide you.
1-Very calm, not nervous.
2-Calm for the most part, stands when walking by but will walk away when you pressure him.
3-Calm when in the group, may become nervous when pressured by himself or when isolated. We recommend these bulls to operations running many bulls and cows as they tend to blend in the best and are comfortable in a group.
HERD HEALTH: Bulls were scrotal measured and had final weight taken by Dr. Holly Roe-Johnson, DVM, Hosmer Vet Clinic on 12/27/24. Bulls will be semen checked and given their first shot of foot rot vaccine prior to delivery, which will start

March 20. All cattle are on a modified live vaccine regiment along with Mycoplasma throughout the year. We have been actively testing for Johnes and BVD for 20 years.
DNA TESTING: Bulls have all been genomic tested, coat color, polled and parent verified.
TERMS & CONDITIONS: Cash or check day of sale with proper ID. Payment for bulls purchased via DVAuction must be made in full within 7 days of sale or finance charges will apply. Bulls become the property and therefore risk of the purchaser after it is sold. We guarantee the animal to be healthy and will have been inspected by Dr. Holly Roe-Johnson, DVM and Dr. Nate Iliff, DVM prior to the sale. Any death or injury after the animal is sold is at the buyer’s expense and buyer may choose to purchase livestock insurance on any animal after the sale. All animals will be sold in accordance with the suggested guidelines of the American Simmental Association. Any information announced sale day takes precedence over the sale catalog.
GUARANTEE: We guarantee all bulls to be breeders and reserve the right to test any bull in question as a non-breeder for a reasonable
amount of time before making an adjustment. And, if the bull is declared a sound breeder by a competent veterinarian, he will be returned to the buyer. In case an adjustment is required, it will be made with a replacement of equal value to animal in question or credit on purchase of another single animal. Credit must be used on following bull sale. Guarantee is not an insurance or mortality policy but a guarantee on functional fertility. The buyer assumes all risks for injuries due to running bulls together and management decisions out of genetic control.
DELIVERY: We will keep bulls until March 20 and deliver bull purchased in the Dakotas to your farm or a centralized drop-off when available. With the price of fuel and time, it really helps if we can meet several customers at an agreed upon location. For delivery or trucking questions, contact Mike or Owen.
STAVICK SIMMENTAL WILL BE RETAINING 1/3 SEMEN INTEREST IN ALL BULLS. BUYER WILL HAVE FULL POSSESSION AND SALVAGE VALUE.
Expected Progeny Differences (EPD): EPD are the most accurate and effective tool available for comparing genetic levels. In using EPD, the difference between two sires’ EPD represents the unit difference expected in the performance of their progeny. For example, if sires A and B have EPD of +10 and –5, a 15-unit difference would be expected in their progeny (moving from -5 to +10 yields 15 units). Key to using EPD is knowing what units they are expressed in. For example, if the above case referred to weaning weight EPD, A would be expected to sire 15-pounds more weaning weight than B. If calving ease were the trait, A would be expected to sire 15-percent more unassisted births in first-calf heifers; in other words, if B sired 30 assists in a group of 100 heifers, we’d expect A to require 15 assists. A percentile-ranking chart is required to determine where a bull’s EPD rank him relative to other bulls in the breed. For percentile rankings or more detailed information about EPD and $ indexes visit www. simmental.org. Listed below are the units ASA EPD are expressed in:
All-Purpose Index (API): Dollars per cow exposed under an all-purpose-sire scenario. (See below for more details.)
Back Fat (BF): Inches of backfat.
Birth Weight (BW): Pounds of birth weight.
Calving Ease (CE): Percent of unassisted births when used on heifers.
Carcass Weight (CW): Pounds of carcass weight.
Maternal Calving Ease (MCE): Percent of unassisted births in first-calving daughters.
Milk (MLK): Pounds of weaning weight due to milk.
Marbling (MRB): Marbling score.
Maternal Weaning Weight (MWW): Pounds of weaning weight due to milk and growth.
Ribeye Area (REA): Square inches of ribeye.
Warner-Bratzler Shear Force (WBSF): Pounds of force required to shear a steak.
Stayability (STAY): Percent of daughters remaining in the cowherd at 6 years of age.
Terminal Index (TI): Dollars per cow exposed under a terminal-sire scenario. (See below for more details.)
Weaning Weight (WW): Pounds of weaning weight.
Yearling Weight (YW): Pounds of yearling weight.
Yield Grade (YG): Yield grade score.
$ Indexes: Though EPD allow for the comparison of genetic levels for many economically important traits, they only provide a piece of the economic puzzle. That’s where $ indexes come in. Through wellconceived, rigorous mathematical computation, $ indexes blend EPD and economics to estimate an animal’s overall impact on your bottom line. The same technology that led to the dramatic progress in swine, poultry and dairy genetics over the last several decades was used to develop the following $ indexes:
All-Purpose Index (API): Evaluates sires for use on the entire cow herd (bred to both Angus first-calf heifers and mature cows) with the portion of their daughters required to maintain herd size retained and the remaining heifers and steers put on feed and sold grade and yield.
Terminal Index (TI): Evaluates sire for use on mature Angus cows with all offspring put on feed and sold grade and yield.
Using API and TI: First, determine which index to use; if you’re keeping replacements use API, if not, TI. Then, just as with EPD, zero in on the unit difference between bulls. (As described above, index units are in dollars per cow exposed.) The difference can be used to determine how much a bull is worth compared to another. Or, put another way, how much you can pay for one bull compared to another. For example, when buying an all-purpose-type sire, you can quickly figure a bull scoring +100 for API is worth an extra $6,000 over a +50 bull if both are exposed to 30 cows over 4 years ($50 diff. x 30 hd. x 4 yr. = $6,000). A percentile-ranking chart is required to determine where a bull’s index value ranks him relative to other bulls in the breed.
For percentile rankings or more detailed information about EPD and $ indexes visit www.simmental.org.
Genomically Enhanced Expected Progeny Differences (GE-EPD) are a game-changer for commercial, seedstock, and all beef producers in between.
The difference between GE-EPD and standard EPD is mostly seen in the form of increased prediction accuracy. Animals that have GE-EPD have significantly improved accuracy for all EPDs as young animals. The way this improvement in prediction accuracy can be measured is by reflecting any improvement in a progeny equivalent. A progeny equivalent is the amount of progeny an animal would have to have born, measured for a trait, and reported to the ASA to receive the same increase in accuracy from a genomic panel. In the case of most of the growth traits, it would take ~25 progeny before a non-genotyped animal would receive the same prediction accuracy as a genotyped animal.
The following tables illustrate approximate progeny equivalents for various traits after a genomic test.
All Stavick Simmental bulls have been genomic tested. We take great pride in the additional validity the data collection process provides to our herd’s EPDs.

Feeding high-energy diets to young bulls right up to the point of breeding season can have a negative effect on breeding ability, semen quality and embryo development.
Sire overconditioning is a prevalent issue in the beef industry. Because pre- and post-weaning growth are important in the cattle business, we often place considerable emphasis on identifying bulls with superior genetics for weaning and yearling weights. To help us identify these superior bulls, high-energy diets are often utilized to allow young bulls to express their genetic potential. Nevertheless, bulls are often not only fed high-energy diets to express their genetic potential at the time of yearling weight collection, but also until the time of sale, resulting in overconditioned bulls. While “fat sells” when it comes to selling bulls, research has shown that excessive conditioning can negatively affect semen quality.
An observational study evaluating over 1,600 breeding soundness exam records revealed that only 45% of extremely overconditioned bulls (with a body condition score [BCS] of at least 4 on a scale of 1 to 5) passed the breeding soundness exam, compared to 81% of bulls with an adequate BCS of 3. Moreover, when an experimentally controlled study compared the impact of feeding young bulls a moderate-gain diet primarily based on forage (control) to a high-energy diet comprising 80% concentrate and 20% forage (highgain) for approximately 160 days, similar results were observed. Bulls fed the high-gain diet were heavier and had greater backfat thickness. However, they exhibited a greater percentage of secondary sperm defects and reduced sperm motility compared with the control bulls. Additionally, high-gain bulls had greater scrotal circumference and suboptimal regulation of scrotum surface temperature, which may be linked to increased fat deposition in the neck region of the scrotum, potentially explaining the decrease in semen quality.
In summary, while high-energy diets should be used to enable young bulls to express their genetic potential for post-weaning growth, it’s crucial to avoid overfeeding them to an extent that fertility is compromised. This can be accomplished by closely evaluating body condition scores while developing bulls. Bulls should be managed to have a body condition score of 6 on a 1-to-9 scale before the beginning of the breeding season. This ensures they have sufficient energy
reserves to handle a busy breeding season while minimizing the risk of reduced fertility associated with overconditioning. Additionally, it is important to keep in mind that bulls can lose over 100 pounds during the breeding season. Adapting young bulls that were developed in a predominantly concentrated diet to a forage-based diet before turning them out to breed cows can help mitigate these losses and optimize bull performance during the breeding season.
"Last Friday, Dec 27, 2024, I drove over to Stavick Simmental Ranch to scrotal measure bulls. Mike had told me that they had just gone back to the basics of feeding and used a very simple ration this fall. They let the bulls grow on their own, so to speak. Wow, was I impressed. The bulls are in great shape. They aren’t carrying a lot of flesh, and you can see how muscled up they are. These bulls did it themselves without being pushed with a high mega-cal ration. Scrotals were great. They ranged from 32cm to 40.5cm. There was very little fat in the scrotum, and testicles felt good.
Stavicks have had a very aggressive protocol for getting rid of Johnes in the herd. It’s one of the most aggressive methods I have ever seen. It doesn’t matter if the cow raised the high seller, she’s gone, as well as her off-spring. I do not know of another herd that is willing to go back down the list of descendants and cull aggressively.
Stavicks work for their customer base, and the bulls work for Stavicks. If the bull or the cow or the heifer can’t pull their weight or cause any issue, any issue, they are gone! Mike has always been a stickler about conformation. He is the pickiest person I know. He can find an imperfection in every critter. I’ve known Mike since 1997. He knows what he wants in his cows and bulls and is constantly looking towards the future. As his veterinarian, it’s great to work with a cattleman at his level. As his bull client, I’m sure glad that Mike is Mike! We can buy with confidence every time! Owen and Liv are just as good as Mike. Just don’t tell Mike that, he still thinks he has the upper hand…ha!
Congratulations on your 25th bull sale! I can’t wait to see what the next 25 years bring!"

“While each individual seedstock operation defines their own goals for bull development, it is a process that takes years to refine. Stavick Simmental judiciously looks back each year to refine their process. They are very specific that bulls should be developed in a manner that maximizes their fertility and provide higher reliability of their durability. This year’s bulls have been the lowest input group of bulls assembled to date. Even with that, they have posted some impressive average daily gains and shown their genetic potential for growth. While we all know that anything can happen with these animals, they have been developed to be ready to work for their new owners!”

• A true performance bull that sired calves with extra length of spine. He is best used on Angus based cows and will add weaning weight and rate of gain to any mating.
• He may be the only proven power bull whose stayability continues to improve as his daughters never leave, breeding back every year and on time. Clubs is in the top 25% for proven growth and in the top 5% for stayability.
• Birth weights are 90-105 lbs. with frame scores 6-7.
• We brought him back out of the tank specifically for our 25th Anniversary Sale and the 2 bulls on the sale are exceptional duplicates of Clubs himself.
• There are only 5 Clubs straws left in the tank! Mike plans to still be around but told Owen to put in 5 cows for our 50th Anniversary Sale. If you don’t get one this year, you can wait!
SIRE:
• We picked out his STAV Pipeline dam specifically to breed to King of Clubs for her perfect type, feminine attributes and proven predictable cow family. She traces back to a cow we bought from Dikoffs many years ago, U848. She had 13 calves while here and has left numerous daughters and granddaughters. Every bull she produced sold to top producers including Curt Penfield, 41 Ranch, Tracy Burgod, Derek Peterson, David Gienger, Scott Braun and Randy Ostby.
• Normally we wouldn’t sell this calf and would choose to retain him to carry on Clubs’ legacy, but we wanted to offer something special. Well, here he is. We are retaining 1/3 semen interest and would very much like to AI to him this spring with the possibility of working out a future pasture usage agreement if buyer is willing.
• Virtually identical to the footnotes on Lot 1. His dam is also a STAV Pipeline and her cow family traces back to 832U, another Dikoff cow that has sold bulls to Scott Braun (2 bulls), Blue Sky Ranch, Andy Sweet, Craig Malsom, Keith Jung, Hammond Farms, Andy Daly and Dave Mogren and a donor to Fred Mansfield.
• It will be tough to decide what brother you want. Make it easy and take them both home!
• Clemson is a new sire we sampled. We have been very pleased with his consistent performance, structure and eye appeal. He stamps his calves with a Simmental look that put the breed where it’s at today - a nice shaped and large foot with great bone and length of spine.
• All his sons have developed extremely well with above average growth. We have retained every female in our replacement pen and look forward to their contribution.
• We believe his calves will be highly sought this spring with not many producers offering as limited semen packages were sold. Come take a look, we think you’ll like the group.
• Truly a standout bull able to benefit seedstock and commercial operations alike. Tracing back to the great Barbie cow family whose influence on our herd is too long to list.
• A real beast of a calf with an 829 actual WW, he has not slowed down. You will like his mass and dimension. His Pipeline dam did an amazing job with him.
• When you look at this set of Clemson calves one thing is certain, foot quality and testicle development is near the top! As a bonus he gained 4.89 lbs per day on test and was our number one bull for rate of gain showing his true ability.
• With his upheaded, level design, he will sure to be a favorite on sale day.
• This is his dam’s third calf. Her first two bulls sold to Casey Hystad and Bill Johnson, and she landed a top bull again this year.
“I have found over the years that calves sired by Stavick Simmental
• Starting with a 90 lb. BW and weaning over 800 lbs., he is extremely long and thick over his top and is the epitome of Simmental.
• He carries himself like a herd bull already. Put him on your Angus cows and watch what his calves do.
• A massive calf that will be pushing the scale down with his
• His dam is a consistent producer of bulls, ratios of 105 for weaning and 106 for yearling weights proves she brings home the pounds. Sons working at Blue Sky ranch, Curt Penfield and Greg Bohnenstingl.
• Take a look at his growth EPDs. Add that to what your eyes are telling you, he should be the slam dunk to make thick feeder cattle with length and thickness. One thing is for sure, with today’s market, quality brings a premium. This Clemson calf will produce the ones the buyers want.
picky on structural soundness here at the ranch and put it above every other measurable trait and EPD. Period. If they can’t travel, they won’t last. This bull can travel and will surely catch your eye.
• Footnotes are duplicate
He can get nervous if isolated by himself but has given zero indications of being aggressive, just likes to be with other cattle.
•
• One of the best calves we’ve ever produced! We thought he was a Bobby son when he was born, but by doing parent verification we found out he was actually a Clemson. His dam is sired by Red Oak and out of the 74Z cow. Remember, she is the dam of STAV Red Wave, CDI Downtown and CDI Abundance - all AI sires.
• Now let’s get into the nuts and bolts. His 205-day weight is 868 lbs., ratios number 1 in our herd! Look at WW and YWT EPDs, in the top 1% of all Simmental. He has as much depth and thickness as you can put on a 6.5

• Looking for an easy calving heifer bull that is homo black and homo polled? Look no further. Not only will his calves be born quickly, but if you keep the females, they should be some of the best cows. Maternal calving ease in the top 2%. The Pipeline x Global combination really worked.
frame bull. Throw in his MARB EPD of .34 and a 4.22 lb. per day of gain and he is moving into an elite group. He walks on huge feet and has great depth of heal. If you’re looking for the unicorn, here’s a hint – it might be Lot 11!
STAVICK SIMMENTAL WILL BE RETAINING 1/3 SEMEN INTEREST IN ALL BULLS. BUYER WILL HAVE FULL POSSESSION AND SALVAGE VALUE.
•
• We thought so highly of this calf that we contemplated keeping him ourselves up to a week ago. After much discussion, we wanted to offer you our best and here is one of them. His maternal grand dam is Mega Wide 023H; she is the dam of our up-and-coming herd sire Amplified.
• Lot 14 is a definite herd bull candidate. A heifer bull with performance and an outstanding presence and phenotype, this thick bull will not disappoint.
• He might be my favorite Global son. He comes with a bit more size and scale. Out of a Pipeline female and tracing back to the immortal Barbie cow family who is a direct daughter of King of Clubs, he is a stud. He weaned an actual 800 lbs. with no creep and has kept it going. While his docility EPD puts him in the top 20% of the breed, he can get nervous when alone and we scored as a 3 because of it.
• If you need to add a bit of bone and power, 86M out of Kappes Sadie B101 might be the one. She is sired by Wheatland High Octane and is a massive
interval on 9 calves and ratios 105 for both WW and YWT.
SIRE:
• A tremendous herd sire that creates genetic improvement on every mating.
• Calving ease with well above average growth.
• All his calves are super calm with big testicles.
• We believe Epic will go down as one of the top 15 Simmental bulls of all time. That’s a hard list to get on, but from what we’ve seen in his calves, everyone should have a little in their herd.
• Frame scores are 5.5-6.5 and birth weights are 65-85 lbs.
• He is the only Epic in this year’s offering and a great one he is! A black strip face, this dude is cool. Sound structured that moves like a cat. His dam is a highly maternal bred female being a Bobby X Boise. The Epic females we are calving are moderate in size with unbelievable udders and type. All have been outstanding first time females and we would highly recommend keeping all 18M’s daughters.

•
• With the huge success we’ve had with Epic, we knew we had to create one with a bit more frame and performance. Epic works great on heifers, but we wanted a son to put on cows. Drone Strike fit the order!
• His dam is a Certified X Crossfit female that carries all the traits we want in a dam of a herdsire. Udder quality is perfect, and foot and legs are perfect with a calm disposition.
• He transmits his fluid movement, smooth attractive front third blending into a massive top and hip. We will challenge you to find a better structured bull of any breed.
• Birth weights run from 75-95 lbs. and frame scores are 5.5-6.7.

the pen. Very calm and easy to handle, you can’t go wrong with 41M.
•
• He is his father’s clone; a level top and extreme hip will put him on your short list. Add in a tight sheath and underline with huge testicles as a bonus. Again, the Drone Strikes as a group are probably the most attractive in the sale. It doesn’t matter if you’re selling bulls, females or feeder cattle, first impressions and eye appeal are what draw buyers in and this calf will do that. Attractive cattle sell.

•
• Rapture was Eagle Pass Ranch’s high selling bull a couple years ago.
• This is Rapture’s first set of calves to sell. His ability to clean up front ends and make them attractive is second to none and docility is unbelievably calm.
• He also is one the highest growth bulls in the breed with a 113 WW and a 171 YWT, ADG in the top 4% and marbling and rib eye area in the top 10%.
• We have another nice set coming next year but unfortunately, due to a rear leg injury, we had to sell Rapture in December. We still have some semen, so you will see him for a few more years.
• 1M had a great year - first calf born and weaned an actual 885 lbs. He’s a great bull to start off the Rapture sire group. Weaning that heavy, he still gained 4.1 lbs. on a 90-day test.
• He is super calm as all the Rapture calves are and has big testicles, measuring 38 on 12.27.24. With his growth and performance in the extreme column, we think his best use would be as a terminal sire.
Stavick Simmental guarantee all bulls to be breeders and we reserve the right to test any bull in question as a non-breeder for at least 180 days before making an adjustment. If the bull is declared a sound breeder by a competent veterinarian, he will be returned to the buyer at the buyer’s expense. In the case an adjustment is required, it will be made with a replacement animal of equal value or credit on purchase of another single animal on the following sale.
• Man alive, what a calf! His dimension is unreal, naturally thick and not fat, this bull has as much muscle as you can slap on an animal. Again, out of an outcross pedigree, you won’t find another like him. Bulls like this are what is making Simmental so sought after. He’s not a fragile composite; this bull is designed to maximize your effort through heterosis and genetic ability.
• After losing Rapture, we’ve toyed with keeping this standout and named him Picasso. What a beast from tip to tip! His overall rib expansion is as massive as they come, and his depth of chest and extreme top and quarter are bonuses.
• What really gets us going is his impeccable structure though! Walk around this calf and from every angle, we can’t find a hole. He’s a homo black strip faced bull that has the wow factor. He will be in the front of the sale and we’d like to incorporate through AI or a possible pasture rental in the future.
• Another attractive cow bull. Stacking Rapture on Hoss, you can imagine the prowess this guy delivers. Solid
and typical of his sire. His

• A power bull to end the Rapture sire group. WW and YWT in the top 1% and ADG in the top 3% and ADG of 4.56 lbs. per day. He’s best suited for a terminal situation but what a set of feeders he will deliver! As with all Raptures, he’s very docile and easy to handle.
• For those who understand that top level performance combined with enviable type creates profit in the bull business, this is your bull!
• With a 99 WW EPD and a 172 YW EPD, he is in rare air and ratioed 115 and 119 respectively at Weaning and Yearling in the Gibbs herd.
• Maternal Weaning Weight at 78 with great STAY and Docility, he offers cow making improvement as proof of his promise for total performance.
• Physically clean, sound, attractive, deep and masculine, he was the dominant presence and a bull we bid on till we ran out of money. He ended up being the top seller at the Gibbs Farms fall 2020 sale.
• Want your cake and eat it too? This bull could be for you! Top end growth weaning at 773 lbs., born at 88 lbs. and EPDs to match. Top 15% for WW and YW, maternal calving ease in the top 40%, Milk and MWW in the top 10% and still will hang a profitable carcass as fats.
• His Stoughton outcross dam is sound, and she passes on her calm demeanor to her calves.
• Just walked bulls again today, as we get closer to sale day. 43M is peaking at the right time. He may be the best Essential son I’ve seen and his front 1/3 structure is impeccable.
• The last Essential in the sale out of a super cow sired by El Tigre. This Canadian bred cow has done a super job and has several daughters in our herd. Sometimes you gotta call BS on EPDs and we call it on this dam. The El Tigre cows are some of the easiest calving, best mothers we’ve ever had. Yes, most of their calves weigh around 100 at birth but when they decide to calve, it happens quickly and without effort.
“We’ve been purchasing bulls from Mike since his first sale in Britton over twenty years ago. His program checks all the boxes for us. The calves come easy, and they GROW. The bulls last a long time, at least 5 years or more, and we don’t have to worry about open cows. We also appreciate that Mike knows us and our program and can point us in the right direction come sale time. If we’ve ever had issues, he’s taken care of us – no questions asked. Who we’re buying from is as important as what bulls we’re buying. Casey’s son Caeden is the next generation to continue the tradition after purchasing his first bull from the Stavicks last year.”

• One of the hottest, most talked about bulls in the business that commanded the 2020 record selling price of $317,500.
• Huge ribbed and super smooth made, with an abundance of muscle.
• Calving his first daughters now and they are amazing. Perfect moderate sized with huge middles, all have calved unassisted to date with very nice udders. It appears he will add milk.
• Frame scores are 5.5-6.2 and birth weights run 90-105 lbs.
If we went into a list of bulls sold out of this family, it would take a page and that’s not counting the 15 retained females stemming back to this tree.
• This strip faced baldy is out of one of our oldest cows, 152Y and we thought, sired by Buddha. However, DNA did not come back to parentage for Buddha. This is the reason we test every animal. A mistake was either made in the records or chute side when thawing semen, but after testing 9 sires, we found his daddy!! Man O’ War.
• His dam has 12 natural calves with a 367-day calving interval and ratios 103 for WW and YWT on 12 calves. As you’ve noticed we are cutting our red bulls down, but we can’t justify selling our top cow just because of color, so we are going to breed our way black on all the red cows realizing the red infusion of genetics in our black program will be steadfast.
• Modeled after his sire Cowboy Logic, Buddha exemplifies superior structure needed in many pedigrees today.
• With a heavy hoof, added bone and proper heel inherited from his sire and profound dam, Buddha is as calm as they come, all without ever seeing a halter. He will improve docility and overall soundness, while enhancing marbling, indexes, growth and most importantly, maternal traits.
• He has quickly become our go-to bling bull, making those tremendous baldies and strip faced cattle everyone likes!
• Calving his first daughters and all I can say is WOW, they have perfect udders with great milk, when they decide to calve it doesn’t take them long.
• Born a twin and raised as a single, this soggy strip faced bull is a great example of Buddha calves. We get the performance we want, females to keep, and a bit of white on the face giving us that WOW without adding white on underline or udders. His dam has given us replacement females, ratios 105 and 106 for WW and YW, and also raised the 2024 high selling bull to Paul Friske.
•
and he will do just that. Females or feeders, utilize this outcross in your program. A true performance bull gaining 3.98 lbs. per day on test. Again, we are feeding for a low to mid 3 lbs. of gain, so he is well above average.
• Another PB bull out of Buddha. As you know, we aim to sell 3/4 and PB bulls to maximize your heterosis. This pen on bulls is consistent from top to bottom and bulls can help many different programs.
• Bulls are developed for 3.3-4 lbs. of gain per day; trying not to exceed this and hold them back can be difficult, but it is still enough to separate the wheat from the chaff and this bull gained 4.66 lbs. He is at the tip of the spear for gain.
“As new customers, we were very impressed by the first bulls we purchased from Stavick Simmental. We asked a lot out of two yearlings, and they did not disappoint. Not one open cow! We also appreciate that Mike isn’t a salesman looking to make another sale. He wants to make sure the bull you purchase is the right fit. We both have kids around, so for us, docility was important and the Stavick bulls are exceptionally calm. We’ll be back!”
• This strip faced bull needs to go to a producer who appreciates performance and big, high producing females. He is a large framed bull that is complete, getting his perfect structure from his dam 55C, who is a postcard cow. She had a top selling Essential last year to Paul Friske, a Crossfit two years ago to Zach Friske, and an El Dorado 3 years ago to Mark Zubke. These guys always buy the top bulls, and it will be interesting to see who takes this bull home. Very calm and easy to be around.
• Gaining 4.44lbs. per day, Lot 50 is a perfect example as to why we want to inject our black program with our red cows. His dam has sale topping red bulls sold to Brad Rau, Jim and Lisa Pernsteiner, Barbara Schlenker, Nevin Sorenson, Jordon Wyum, Emery Ranch, and Paul Martinson. She’s had 10 calves, 9 sold as bulls and we’ve retained 1 female. Lot 50 will find his way to the top of the pen as well. She calves every 369 days and ratios 107 for WW and 103 for YWT. Not many cows can put together a history like this. Yes, she is bred back again this year AI but she is looking old, so you better bid now. If she has a heifer, we will be keeping!
• A homo black, homo polled, strip face bull that is one of our favorites. A frame 6, he is masculine, thick over the top with a deep flank and rear quarter. He has an elite set of running gear as all the Buddhas are extremely sound.
• Very calm and easy going and gaining 4.11 lbs. on test. We believe if pushed, these high gaining bulls will put on in excess of 5 lbs. per day. We feel this is too fast and an unacceptable rate of gain for sound development of breeding cattle not only on feet and legs but puberty and testicular development. Our objective is to give you one more year of usefulness in our bulls.
• A testament to the Buddha line, he has as much volume and depth you can put on a bull with added thickness. His ability to gain is evident at 4 lbs. per day. He is also blessed with a large scrotal and high libido. He is calm to be around and can help a lot of programs. Half-brothers out of his Certified dam are working for Rick Herman, L and L Ranch and David Gienger.
When put on feed to sell as a mature bull he was a 8 frame, gained 8.1 lbs. per day and weighed 3890 when walked on the truck after shrinking out a day.
• Sweet Crude is a bull we retained as a replacement to Pipeline, the bonus is he’s a heifer bull with style.
• His dam is a Turnpike Kappes female originating from Windy Creek Simmental as an embryo.
• Exceptional, clean front, and fine bone structure, his calves have all come easy with above average nursing and survival ambition.
• They are as fancy as we can make them with a huge top and hind quarter. The type of calves that catch your eye when walking the pen. Wait until you see what his daughters will do!
• Heifer bull supreme, this calf has Principal on both sides. He started at 68 lbs. and weaned at 680 lbs., not too shabby out of this first calf heifer. And look at his ability to gain after weaning - 3.93 lbs. per day on a heifer bull!
• A Sweet Crude X Epic, about as new a genetic line as you
Hot off the press, this calf is in top 30% for growth and CE and BW. Add in his MCE of 11.7 and STAY at 18.3 and you should keep every heifer he produces. Epic females are perfect uddered, and we expect the Sweet Crudes to be the same as Pipeline’s are exceptional.
• He is a bull we scored a 3 on docility. He can get nervous if isolated by himself but has given zero indications of being aggressive, just likes to be with other cattle. Gaining 3.93 lbs. on test for a calving ease bull, Lot 55 is at the top of his class.
• Lot 55 and 56 are full sibs by blood, mothers are twins. Put this set together on heifers or young cows and reap the rewards. They also trace back to 848u, the granddam of Lot 1.
• Here is the third Sweet Crude out of an Epic female. Have you figured out our madness? The objective was to produce the superior female to continue making your power bulls. These are just spinoffs in reverse and this calf is a bona fide heifer bull as well. Serious producers are always keeping heifers, if you’re as optimistic about the future of the industry as we are, this is where you start. Keep females out of this bull, wean big fancy calves, rinse and repeat.
• Pipeline is a smooth-shouldered, attractive composite bull with a great hip. We retained Pipeline to breed both to heifers and cows. His calves are very complete and functional.
• Not the extreme growth of the other power bulls, but when mated to their daughters, complements them nicely. We believe this bull to be a fantastic cow maker.
• His birth weights on heifers are typically in the low 70s and bred to mature power cows can run in the 80-100 lb. range. Frame scores are 5.6-6.0.

• When we got Center Mass a few years ago, we didn’t exactly know how we would use him except to clean up heifers. That has been his role. Our mistake was underutilizing him. His calves are born very easily but grow into fantastic replacements and bulls.
• He is a broad-spectrum sire; Calving Ease, ADG, MCE, Marb, in the top 30% while still being in the top 40% for YW.
• Calves are vigorous and aggressive at birth.
• Frame scores are 5.3-5.8 and birth weights 60-80 lbs.
•
• A complete stud and a curve bender too! He is clean fronted and attractive from all angles, and this is hard when he’s as heavily muscled as he is. He has hit puberty early with a crested neck and big testicles. That is a fertility indicator if you’re keeping females.
• Way above industry averages for CE, growth and maternal traits. Use this phenotypic standout to go any direction. For a 5.4 frame bull to gain 4.47 lbs. per day is exceptional!
• Bred and designed to be a fantastic heifer bull, 21M
His refined shoulder and small head make him an ideal candidate. Backed by two calving ease families - Pipeline and Certified - make him uniquely qualified.
• Very calm and easy to be around.

• This high-performance 7.2 framed bull weaned an actual 851 lbs. off the cow again with no creep feed, just a lot of great native grass, water and high fat leche! He has continued to gain 4.2 lbs. per day and has a 39 scrotal.
• I’m sure you get tired of me talking about structure but in my opinion, it is the most relevant trait we can breed for. Eye appeal and structural integrity are what pay the bills. The worst conversation we can ever have is someone telling us they have a problem with their feet and legs. Our core belief of getting one more year out of your sire makes you money by having your replacement cost delayed.
• Like most Prodigy sons are, he is a 6.5 frame bull. This the most consistent sire group for gain bulls. Where else can you get this many PB Simmental bulls, mid 6 frame that are homo black and polled? If you’re running straight Black Angus, Red Angus or Hereford, you’ve come to the right place. Buy these PBs, get your maximum heterosis, either keep the heifers or sell everything. The buyers are demanding this type of calf.
• When we think of Simmental, this is the bull we think
hair. Big feet with heel, correct hip and pin placement in a calm easy-going package. He’s an easy spot on sale day.
• This is one of Owen’s powerhouse bulls. We don’t know if he’s just lucky or he has skill, but it would seem he always has a couple of our top bulls. This is one of them. This bull can’t take a bad picture. Look at his topline and round quarter - perfection. This happens when shoulder placement and hook-pin placement is perfect. We could expect this bull to be culled at 8 or more years of age, it sure isn’t his structure going to take him out.
• A massive, hog bellied bull that is a mid-6 frame; this is harder than you think to produce. As you go for frame, generally bulls are flatter sided. Not in this case. A big part of this comes from his Red Oak background. Yes, he’s hetero black but homo good!
• This middle of March calf is picking up steam every day. He’s out of Bianca, who has produced 9 calves in a 367-day calving interval with WW and YW ratios of 102 and 108. He weaned a little lighter than normal as when these cows get to be over 11, their production does decrease. But if you need to investigate her production, she’s sold bulls to Duane Kolpack in Michigan, Tracy Burgod and Michael Anderson. We like this bull more every day he’s on feed and come July 1, he will stand with the big boys.
• Lot 75 has great bone, a very attractive front and tremendous length of spine. No surprise he goes back to a Bullflex X Ironman dam. She’s produced 10 natural calves in a 369-day calving interval. Ratios 109 for WW and 106 for YW. Bulls have been sold to Raymond Martinson and Pete Moe. Every female has been retained as a replacement. When you see these consistent families go back to bulls we’ve created and used ourselves, it solidifies our breeding decisions. As an added bonus his adjusted scrotal is a 36 and he’s a 6.8 frame.
• Pay attention here, his dam has had 11 natural calves in a 360-day calving interval and ratios 104. Two bulls have sold to Casey Sweet, a bull to Brian Nielson and she’s had our only set of triplets! She calved with triplets as a heifer on 4.27, bred back and calved the following year on 3.08. That’s the fertility factor.
Bulls become the property and therefore risk of the purchaser after the animal is declared sold. We guarantee the animal to be healthy and will have been inspected by Dr. Holly RoeJohnson, DVM, prior to the sale. Any death or injury after the animal is sold is at the buyer’s expense and we encourage livestock insurance to be taken on any animal after the sale.
• A high indexing bull with an adjusted 205-day weight of 806 lbs. Starting with just an 88 lb. BW, he’s destined for greatness. Put him on your Angus cows and watch the magic.
• He’s out of a King of Clubs dam; you’ve noticed the impact he’s had on our program, and they’re not done yet. “If it’s working, don’t fix it” and “we don’ t have to recreate the wheel every time” are two of my great go to phrases. Yes, genetic progress has happened, however, go back and look at lot 1 and 2. How much progress have we made? Is it the right progress? Look at these Prodigy bulls with APIs in the 100-120 range, we know better, and you do too. These are good cattle that should be used.
• HHS Bobby is a rare find. You will scour the country to find a bull with not only a balanced set of EPDs but with all EPDs at the top of the breed. He is in the top 25% for 15 traits.
• We’ve been pleased with his ability to create very docile calves while advancing carcass traits for both marbling and ribeye area. Carcass marbling is in the top 3% of the breed!
• Females are outstanding with perfect udders and mothering ability.
• Frame scores are 5.5-6.5 and birth weights are 80-100 lbs.
•
he checks every box and backed by actual performance of 4 lbs. per day of gain, your risk vs reward is minimal here.
• Just an April calf, this flashy bull is cranking and will be ready for your breeding season. Backed with above average calving ease and growth in the top 20%, he’s a no risk purchase.
“I’ve been buying bulls from Stavick Simmental for many years now and the cattle speak for themselves. The bulls are gentle, and they create the nice, fleshy calves that the market wants. Mike and Owen treat me well and conveniently, they’re just down the road!”
• A Bobby X King of Clubs dam, he has an incredible MCE of 10.8 and STAY of 18.2. His incredible carcass and calving ease make him a sure hit. Very close to a heifer bull with appropriate management and certainly a home run for some second calvers.
• He has gained right at 4 lbs. per day. Few calving ease bulls rise to this level. His dam has had 10 calves with a 368-day calving interval.
• A great example of us knowing our cattle. When you look him up, it would indicate that he could be a slam dunk heifer bull. Knowing his pedigree, we would caution against this until you’ve calved a few out of coming 2nd calvers. We believe he will throw 85 lb. calves, not 65 or 70. Just use with caution if used on heifers; we want to make sure there are no surprises for you. His WW is a bit lighter as he was a twin raised as a twin.
• Tremendous growth and highly maternal, he will keep you in business with his opportunity. Starting at just 82 lbs. he weaned over 800, out of the granddaughter of Bullflex! We don’t have many of these left and they lasted a lifetime…oh wait, there maybe be something special at the end of the catalog!
• Bobby gets bred to cows we are trying
put him to work on your Angus cows.
• We want to make sure you get the right bull and give you all the most current information we can. We scored him a 3 for docility. Again, this means he can get nervous if isolated and has not shown aggression towards us at any time. If you’re here to buy just one bull or have a handful of cows, just pass on these 3 docility bulls.
• Just the opposite to lot 85, we believe this bull would make a heifer bull. His dam 003H has had 3 calves all under 80 lbs. Her mature size runs at 1300 lbs. They are small featured and born easily. He will leave you some tremendous females, the right size with tremendous MCE and STAY.
• Another maternal bred bull not having the huge WW but still in the 750 lb., range. He’s an all-around great bull to retain females or sell feeders. The other fact, and those that already have a Bobby calf will attest to, is they always have superior fertility and tremendous libido!

• Bullflex was born in 2005 and is the first sire that kickstarted our program. He is a power bull that unexpectedly established himself as a female maker of kings. We only got a couple breeding seasons out of him but were lucky enough to have him collected and his daughters have stood the test of time.
• You will find Bullflex is the nuclear bull to a lot of our best lineages. In fact, this bull is so old that the pictures taken at the time were still with film and unsurprisingly, we can’t find an original. The photo you see here is a picture of a picture.
• We put the last 5 straws of semen in for this sale and got 3 bulls and one heifer. He is a hetero black and hetero polled bull, so we bred all red cows
• When we picked our list of cows to use with Bullflex, we chose cows that we thought would enhance him. The intent was to create as many females as we could. We really wish this had been a heifer! He weaned a bit lighter, but his dam is getting up on age. She’s had 8 calves in a 371-day calving interval having 6 of those as heifers we’ve retained. The two bulls sold to Lonnie Bender and Brian Lick so she will go down as having a huge impact on our herd.

He can be used to make unique purebreds as well as elite composites. Outcross to Imperial, Red Moon, Copperhead and All-Aboard bloodlines.

• A little different pedigree sired by Private Stock. This bull is very calm. If your main goal is disposition, he can fit the bill. He’ll give you great feeder cattle and be a joy to be around.
• 115M is a late addition to no fault of his own, we have been patiently waiting for DNA and it has come in the day the catalog is going to print. Liv nicknamed him Little Dipper due to his unique patch on his forehead. He’s also a bull that was on our short list for a keeper heifer bull.
• His sire was our pick at Clear Springs a couple years ago and unfortunately we only ever got this one calf out of him. Big time carcass and calving ease with a ton of maternal.
• Very, very calm and a no jump bull.
• A great bull to end the catalog on is WS
known for his calving ease, growth, MCE and Marbling. Numbers say he could be heifer bull but proceed with caution. He is another super calm bull that has no jump in him. His dam goes back to Executive Order. Weaning at 750 lbs., he will add performance to your program.
