Helping the homeless Paradise 4 Kids is hitting the road in St Albans to help provide hot meals to the homeless and those in need. P4K director Jane Pallot said the aim was to provide people who are on the streets with a hot meal at least once a week. “In Victoria, job losses, rent rises, and benefit lags have severely impacted the vulnerable in the community,” she said. “There is a food insecurity crisis, people cannot put food on their tables. For this reason, P4Ks established a community kitchen, to go out into the streets of Brimbank and feed and nourish people in need. “Come rain, hail, or shine, we will head out and offer food relief, social connection, and referral pathways out of homelessness and poverty, to people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness and disadvantage.” The community kitchen is council approved and the group will work with other providers who are already helping those in need find support. The community kitchen will run on Tuesdays from 7.45pm from the St Albans Market carpark. To donate, sponsor or volunteer contact Jane at jane@pallot.tv.

COVID numbers give hope Victoria was holding its breath on Monday as the state waited for news of lockdown restrictions easing on Tuesday. On Monday, 11 new local cases were announced, all of which were linked to known outbreaks and were in quarantine throughout their infectious period. It is the second day in a row that all cases have been in quarantine while infectious, increasing hopes that restrictions will ease tonight. Victorians were plunged into lockdown on July 15, following a number of positive

cases across the state as a result of two virus incursions from Sydney. Premier Daniel Andrews said on Sunday that a downward trend in cases was a positive sign, but that he couldn’t announce what would happen with restrictions yet. “These numbers are the trend that we wanted to see, these numbers are more than promising, but we just have to wait and see what comes through tomorrow and Tuesday to be certain,” he said. “I will foreshadow, there will still be rules after midnight Tuesday, it’ll be important that we all follow them.” The health department has identified six
