Mill Mercure and then catch a 10-minute train to the airport.” Mr Bainbridge said groundwork construction is complete and developers are finalising heritage and planning permissions to proceed. Brimbank director city development Kelvin Walsh said council officers regularly engage with the representatives of the owner of the

John Darling Flour Mill to discuss proposals for the site, however to date no formal applications have been lodged. “Under the Brimbank Planning Scheme provisions, a Development Plan (which is effectively a master plan) needs to be approved for the entire site before any planning permits can be issued. Additionally, as the site is on the

Victorian Heritage Register, approval is also required from Heritage Victoria for certain work,” he said. “Council’s Leading with Vision, Transforming Brimbank Future Priorities 2050 also recognises the importance of the restoration and sensitive reuse of the Darling Flour mills in activating and transforming the northern end of Sunshine CBD.” 12468826-SN45-20

All the historic character and artefacts will be retained to tell the story and add to the charm of this hotel.” Mr Bainbridge said plans included a 100-room hotel with significant food and beverage options downstairs and a large basement function and conference area. “It will have access to the Albion station, and with the plans for the rail link to Melbourne Airport … we see a lot of guests that could be coming from interstate and regional Victoria who will be able to stay at the historic Flour
