Movie in the park A residential community in Officer hosted their first ‘Movie in the Park’ event over the weekend, bringing residents together for some Christmas joy after years of lockdown-riddled holidays for an outdoor movie experience featuring some very special guests. The event, held at Hillstowe by AVID Property Group in Officer, hosted a total of 250 residents in their extensive greenspaces, to enjoy a very merry movie as well as a special visit from Santa and his elves. Mental health aid Each of the 16 one-bedroom self-contained homes includes a main bedroom, built-in wardrobe, bathroom, kitchen and eating area, European laundry, lounge room and outdoor courtyard or balcony. The new development - part of the Victorian Government’s $5.3 billion Big Housing Build – is one of three new Haven Foundation residences being built in regional Victoria.
Residents receive Supported Independent Living services for assistance with activities of daily living which are funded by their NDIS packages. This integrated social housing and support service is a partnership between Mind Australia and community housing provider The Haven Foundation – a subsidiary of Mind. Mind Australia chief executive Gill Callister
said The Haven Foundation residences have been shown to reduce hospitalisations and homelessness for people with mental health concerns, providing stability and security and recovery focused support. “These residences enable people with significant long-term mental health issues to lead successful and fulfilling lives in the community,” he said.
