Tourism tops at Mumbrella Tourism Noosa won the Mumbrella Award for Sustainable Practices at the 2022 Mumbrella Awards, Australia’s most prestigious media and marketing awards. With over 800 marketing professionals in attendance, the awards aim to recognise the must-know brands and campaigns with 30 awards handed out to the best talent and innovators across Australia and New Zealand’s marketing, advertising, media, production, PR and communication industries. Tourism Noosa chief executive officer Melanie Anderson said, “We are thrilled to win this award which is truly a showcase of the many environmental and sustainability programs, activities and principles that Tourism Noosa runs and abides by. “The awards are a great acknowledgement of our partnership and close collaboration with key stakeholders including Noosa Council, Noosa & District Landcare, the Department of Environment & Science, Queensland Parks & Wildlife, Noosa Biosphere Reserve Foundation, Noosa Integrated Catchment Association, Noosa Parks Association, Zero Emissions Noosa, the Noosa World Surfing Reserve and the incredible environmental leading tourism industry members that we have here in Noosa.” Continued page 7

In what has been a challenging year for the industry, Noosa builders came up trumps at this year’s Master Builders Sunshine Coast 2022 Housing & Construction Awards. More than 40 builders, projects, and individuals from Noosa to Pelican Waters were recognised at the glamorous event held at the Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort on Saturday 6 August. Chris Smith Construction scored a hat-trick, collecting the coveted BUSSQ Building Super President’s Award for their Tinbeerwah project, Australis, as well as the Langs Building Supplies trophy for Best Residential Bathroom and Best Residential Pool for Kareela in Little Cove.

The stunning design of Australis fits seamlessly within its surroundings, delivering incredible craftsmanship and impeccable fittings. Capturing waterfront views with an outdoor living feel, the Modern Thai House at epitomises the Sunshine Coast lifestyle, earning Braeden Constructions the prestigious Xact Accounting 2022 House of the Year award. The Noosa Heads project is a modern threelevel home with several timber highlights giving it a tropical atmosphere. The Modern Thai House was also named the best Individual Home over $2 million. Master Builders Sunshine Coast Queensland regional manager, Nicola Scott congratulated all 43 category winners.

“It was a year of unexpected challenges and hurdles, but our industry took it in their stride and has produced some truly outstanding work,’’ she said. “From this time last year to the present moment we have constantly faced a new set of problems, however, the Sunshine Coast has proved to be remarkably resilient. “This is a time to celebrate our wins. “From luxury beachside homes, educational facilities and health precincts to stunning renovations and even backpackers’ accommodation, this year’s entries were inspirational. “The quality of the winning entries is second to none and the style of entries showcased our incredible coastal lifestyle.” The Coolum Beach development by Mosaic

Construction won the Residential Building (high-rise over three storeys) up to $20 million category and claimed the sought-after Bathersby Legal 2022 Project of the Year Award. The Murphy Builders Qld team cemented their status as sustainable builders, picking up the awards for Excellence in Sustainable Living and Excellence in Energy Efficiency and Environmental Management for Azure Buderim Residence and Mooloolaba Foreshore Redevelopment projects respectively.
