Decision on gardens is finally made After receiving “comprehensive feedback” from the public, Southern Downs Regional Council has decided a $47 million Botanical Gardens in Stanthorpe is no longer a priority. Councillor Stephen Tancred said that while he would love to see the facility approved, funded and built in the future, the project is simply not feasible at this time. Story - page 4
Campaign for music zones a hit

A group of passionate local performers and music enthusiasts is continuing with their campaign for the Southern Downs Regional Council to create a designated ‘entertainment zone’ in the Stanthorpe CBD. Following the success of the recent National Busking Championships the Granite Belt Music Council remains firmly of the belief that live entertainment in the streets will only add to Stanthorpe’s ambience - not to mention the social and health benefits we all get from music.
