New chapter for the CWA
The Australian National Busking Championships returned to Stanthorpe’s Main Street over the weekend, and the talent was phenomenal. A record number of music makers from across the state and beyond competed for a share of $6500 in prize money. The big winners of the day were Brisbanebased father and son duo Levi-X & Dad, who came away with first place in the Open Category and nearly $2000 in prize money. Full story page 12
New CWA Sub-Branch, the Granite Belt Weekenders, hosted their first morning tea and garage sale event for International Women’s Day. The fledgling group began in November 2020 and is working on becoming a Branch. Border Division President Jacki Harvey said the 14-member Sub-Branch has brought plenty of new ideas to the table and represents a new chapter for CWA. Story page 8

Three months have passed since Southern Downs Regional Council (SDRC) decided to invest in Emu Swamp Dam, but questions about what that means for the future of water security in the region remain largely unanswered.
