who helped her out during this tough stretch.

From family, friends, workers at the Warburton bakery who raised money through tin collections, to Wesburn Primary School, whose students created a picture book for their mentor Kevin, they are just a few that make up the long list of those who lent their hand.

"Kevin got to see what the community thought of him before he passed. It's usually what the family would hear at the funeral service."

Ms Love shared the news that her husband's cornea donation upon his death had helped give sight to someone in need.

She said it was the right call to make considering Kevin's life had been extended 19 years as a result of a heart transplant.

Ms Love recalled the fire that claimed her home. Local CFA crews attended the scene and were faced with Kevin's oxygen cylinders that had exploded, accelerating the fire on a gusty July night.

"I must have been in a light sleep because I thought I heard my name. I honestly believe now that it was god, but at the time I thought Kevin was calling me," Ms Love said.

"He was sound asleep but I could see a glare. I got up, looked in the lounge room and fire was just raging through.

"I yelled out to Kevin, he got out and I tried to grab his medication but the house was totalled in 10 or 15 minutes ... Everything just happened so fast."

Ms Love is still yet to be informed as to the cause of the blaze that destroyed her home and spread to two neighbouring houses.

On 21 July, Kevin and Elizabeth Love lost everything they owned when their Millgrove home of 35 years went up in a wild blaze.

Thirty-five days later, Elizabeth lost her husband as Kevin passed away from a kidney haemorrhage after suffering from a range of health problems on 24 August.

After the fire, the Millgrove and surrounding Yarra Valley community rallied around the Love's to raise $17,450 to help get them back on their feet.

And now Ms Love wants to thank those who supported her throughout such a difficult time.

Ms Love has been staying with her close friend Dawn in Millgrove as she prepares to move into her new Yarra Junction unit.

"Dawn's been it and a bit ... She's just an extra member of the family now," Ms Love said.

She said the money raised from the GoFundMe page went a long way in helping her furnish her new home.

"The support that we have received has just been fantastic. From people that we don't even know to the organisations that we have been involved with in the SES, the CFA and our local church.

"It's a fantastic feeling, you don't go out to be involved to get anything back ... You couldn't ask for a better community to live in.

"One of the sad things is that I won't be living in Millgrove anymore ... It's a special little place, Millgrove."

Dear Editor, I wish to thank the many community members who attended the recent public forum regarding the Black Spur road. The issues discussed continue to have a significant impact on local residents and visitors to the region, and have been raised with me by your local council and a number of residents since my election in November 2018.

On 18 June 2019, I raised these issues with the Government during Question Time.

In response, the Government announced $2.286m of improvements to the road including signage, guideposts, line markings and barriers. The Government has confirmed this work will go to tender in November for the improvements to be completed in the New Year.

I again raised the Black Spur on 17 October 2019 with the Minister for Roads, including the community's need for information signage at Buxton, attention to the small size and lack

of advance notification of pullover areas, and consideration for an alternate route.

In responding to my question, the Minister apologised to the community for neglecting to have variable messaging at Buxton at the time of the emergency closure on 8 October and committed to a sign at Buxton for upcoming planned closures. The Minister also confirmed the Department of Transport will review and provide additional signs for the pullover areas.

The Minister did not rule out the Government potentially funding a feasibility study in the future and I will continue this advocacy.

I'm pleased our collective voice is working to put the Black Spur back on the map, not only in getting some immediate improvements but also continuing the discussion with Government.

Road sealing rolls Works are underway to seal the first roads in the federal government funded 10 year roads program, with sealing works on Rue De Gare and Prospect Roads in Wandin North to be completed in coming months.

Earlier this year, the federal government pledged $150 million each to Yarra Ranges and Cardinia Council to seal roads in and around the Dandenong Ranges over the next 10 years.

Yarra Ranges Mayor, Tony Stevenson, said he was excited to see the first works begin on the road program.

"I'm proud to say that works are underway on the first road to be sealed under this federal government-funded program, here in Wandin North," Cr Stevenson said.

"This road is particularly significant, because council had begun the Special Charge Scheme process earlier in the year, while we were still putting together our priority list.

"This road aligned well with that in timing and need, and the federal government subsidy on the construction means residents will be saving a significant amount on these works.

"Landowner contributions are an important part of this road program - with the federal government funding and contributions from our community members, we'll be able to seal an estimated 186 kilometres of roads between now and the 2027-28 financial year."

Due to the significant cost of constructing sealed roads and a lack of funding available to deliver the works, Special Charge Schemes in the past have required landowner contributions of up to $15,500 per standard residential

In September, council passed a motion to cap landowner contributions at $7000 per development unit for the life of the program, using the federal government funding to subsidise the remaining cost of the works.

Cr Stevenson said that unsealed roads included in the priority list were selected through a number of factors, such as sharing a boundary with schools, preschools and community facilities; whether the roads are in an urban or township areas and the number of residents and road users who will benefit from the works.

"Design is well underway for sealing roads abutting schools, preschools and community facilities, and we hope to get construction underway on several of these projects in the new year," he said.

"Those sections of unsealed roads that share a boundary with schools, preschools and community facilities will be sealed using only federal government funding, so we're able to deliver sealed roads to these areas quickly while we get the ball rolling on the next projects."

"Our teams will be contacting residents whose roads are scheduled for works in coming years, starting the consultation process so they can discuss with staff, share their feedback with us and let us know if they'd like their roads included.

"We know this is going to be a long project, and there will be disappointment from people whose roads aren't on our priority list or who want their road to be sealed sooner, but we'll be working hard to deliver these roads and we know the community will benefit in the longrun, whether you live on these roads or travel through them."

Casey MP, Tony Smith said he was glad the federal funding would subsidise the cost of road sealing for residents, such as those on Rue De Gare and Prospect Roads.

"It's great to see the start of works on the first sealing of dirt roads project in Wandin North," Mr Smith said.

"Sealing dirt roads ends the days of dust, potholes and mud for local residents."

Mad about mushrooms - and awards too

Teelixir's Mushroom Cacao Latte starring Reishe and Rose is in the running to be awarded Certified Organic Non-Alcohol Product of the Year and the Best New Organic Certified Product.

Teelixir co-owner Julze Serendipity said, "We're just super excited to get organics out into the world. It's just amazing to be nominated and recognised for all the things we're doing.

"We've got a set of four lattes but we could only put one forward for the award.

"The reishi rose cacao latte is my personal favourite. It's calming and it's basically got three herbs that are centred around the heart ... It's a yummy way to calm your stresses down."

Mr Serendipity started out as a sole trader selling superfood products at markets.

"I sold pretty much everything, cacao, lucuma, bee pollen. Any sort of superfood I was into, but I started to increase a focus on medicinal mushrooms," he said.

"I wasn't really selling very much because people didn't really know about it. I guess I was one of the first people to bring it forth into

people's awareness.

"What seems to have happened now is that a mushroom consciousness has expanded globally and we're one of the biggest, if not the biggest in Australia in terms of the mushroom community.

"We're very proud to be part of the organic movement, obviously that's very important to us."

The business' distribution has been located in Woori Yallock for three years after Teelixir moved out from the old Yarra Junction police station.

Teelixir's mushrooms are grown naturally from northern China and Siberia in what is called 'Di Tao', which means authentically sourced.

"The one that I think stands head and shoulders over for us is the reishi mushroom," Mr Serendipity said.

"So many people are so stressed and are need of alleviating that stress and calming themselves down, and reishi does that.

"So many people go, 'oh it's another fad', and then they take it and are amazed.

"Reishi calms the heart and the liver, it builds the immune system. It works on the brain and you can use it as a meditative or sleep aid.

Operation Furlong At about 9:15PM, Highway Patrol members performing speed detection duties in the Croydon area as part of operation Maston identified a Ford utility travelling at 138 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Maroondah Hwy. The vehicle was observed failing to stop at a red traffic light at Maroondah Highway and Kent Avenue.

Shortly prior to being intercepted, the vehicle was again detected speeding at 105 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on Kent Ave. The 20-year-old male probationary driver returned a positive Preliminary Breath Test and accompanied the members to a police station where he returned an Evidentiary Breath Test result of 0.115.

The man's licence was immediately suspended, and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $825.

The man will face Court at a future date charged with speeding, drink-driving, speed dangerous, using defective motor vehicle and other traffic offences.

Maroondah Highway Patrol OIC Sergeant Aston said the incident was extremely concerning.

"It is extremely concerning that inexperienced drivers believe that they can behave in such a dangerous manner without any consideration for other road users or with the belief that they will escape detection by police."

"On this occasion, thankfully, catastrophic and potentially tragic consequences have been avoided through the excellent and dedicated work of Highway Patrol members".

Road closures With the weather warming up, the seasonal road closures period is now over and from now Forest and Wildlife Officers will be actively patrolling State Forest and Reserves within the Yarra District.

Officers will be chatting to visitors about responsible forest use, such as firewood collection, campfires, off-road vehicle use, trail bikes and litter.

Officers encourage everyone to be respectful and responsible while in the bush.

Yarra Range Highway Patrol were called to the scene in Yarra Glen at 7.45am.

Yes, this article is going to shine a little light on the nether regions!

Research into male pelvic health has about 20 years to catch up to that of females. And while a female pelvis garners much attention what do we know about the male?

Pelvic floor muscles are vital to maintain support and control of bladder and bowel and play a huge role in sexual function.

We know that prostatic enlargement can cause bladder dysfunctions such as frequency, urgency, slow or interrupted urine flow and even bladder obstruction.

Surgery for prostate cancer inevitably results in urinary incontinence and many men struggle to get out of bed without leaking let alone see themselves mowing the lawn or playing a round of golf.

To make things more devastating neural trauma after prostate surgery leads to Erectile Dysfunction (ED) with nerve regeneration painfully slow, if at all.

And ED is not just reserved for the postprostatectomy patient as up to 40 per cent of over 40-year-olds have some dysfunction which escalates to around 70 per cent of 70 year-olds.

We also know that Chronic Pelvic Pain syndrome, or Chronic Prostatitis, is the most common urological diagnosis in men under 40 years.

Physiotherapist, Dandenong Ranges Physio, Olinda It may affect 2-14 per cent of the population and that tight or overactive pelvic floor muscles are often a contributor to symptoms.

Enough of the bleak picture. What can be done to assist men with leakage, pelvic pain or ED? There is strong evidence that specific pelvic floor muscle training with a physiotherapist before and after prostate surgery can significantly reduce the severity and duration of incontinence.

A study in the UK found that pelvic exercises helped 70 per cent of men with ED regain normal or significantly improved erectile function.

And that bladder training together with pelvic floor down-training or 'reverse kegels' can help manage painful symptoms of bladder pain syndrome and prostatitis.

By Jed Lanyon Yarra Ranges Council announced the winners of the Not the Archies portrait competition at an awards night at The Memo on Wednesday 30 October.

Mount Evelyn resident Ashlee Lambton was awarded the Not the Archies Open Category Award.

"It was honestly amazing, I was completely dumbfounded by it," she said.

"I've got a unique painting style and I'm still quite new to it. I have been doing oils for maybe two years now and there were just some gorgeous paintings there too.

"I wasn't sure if my painting style was everyone's cup of tea.

"The week before, my family walked the streets of Yarra Glen and Healesville and we saw some amazing and beautiful portraits ...

They were incredible."

Ms Lambton painted a portrait of her mother Alyson May, a local artist who has dedicated her time to teach at Woori Yallock Primary School and Chirnside Community Hub. She entered her portrait into the competition just days before the official deadline.

"She's a pillar of the art community. She's taught everyone, from beginners to profes-

"She's painted so many faces but i realised that not many paintings of her exist.

"I thought she deserved to have her face up there for once."

Yarra Ranges Mayor Tony Stevenson congratulated all the winners and thanked the 235 community member who submitted a painting for Not the Archies.

"There's not a strict requirement of materials or subject matter, and some people's entries to Not the Archies over the years may have been their first attempt to pick up a brush

and create an image.

"That effort, of having a go and seeing your work presented publicly, can spark a love of creating art and could set someone on the track of forging an artistic career.

"Putting yourself and your art out there can be difficult, but so rewarding for yourselves and others. Congratulations to all of our entrants, finalists and winners on taking that step."

All Not the Archies entrants have been hung in shopfronts through Yarra Glen and Healesville as part of the Not the Archies Street Gallery.

Cr Stevenson said that voting remains open for the Audience Choice award - where members of the public can vote for a specific artwork, using a four-digit code that accompanies each painting.

"If any of these artworks caught your eye, I encourage you to visit the Not the Archies website and cast your vote for the Audience Choice award," he said.

The Street Gallery will remain up until 15 November, when voting closes.

Mount Dandenong Preschool has seen improvements to its outdoor space and curriculum with the recent addition of a chicken coop.

The project was finished in September after six years of planning and extensive fundraising.

A group of chickens were then introduced to the coop this month.

The preschool's Parent Advisory Group President, Hayley Lourey, said the project has been important for the children's learning and development.

"They've been writing their little stories about each of the chickens and doing their arts and crafts around the chickens," she said.

"They can actually visually see it and touch it.

"Children learn through visualisation, touch and feel and actually experiencing it.

"They also learn that there are different behaviours. Each chicken has its own little personality and you don't get that from just pictures and books."

The main source of funds for the project was the preschool's Chestnut Festival, a parent-organised event which attracts thousands of visitors to Kalorama Reserve on the first Sunday of every May. The festival started about 30 years ago as just a few parents selling chestnuts and has now grown into a popular event for the community.

Once enough funds were raised, the coop was constructed by Richard Bellemo landscapes through recyclable materials, with the idea of creating a sustainable design that blended in with the natural environment.

Ms Lourey said the natural-looking chicken coop adds to the aesthetic appeal of the entire preschool.

"We're pretty fortunate in what we offer because of the environment," she said.

"Not many kinder's you can go to and have such a massive play area outside and also inside.

"We can have 20 kids out there and it doesn't look like a traditional kinder, it still looks like a nice welcoming environment."

Mount Dandenong Preschool is situated in the Dandenong Ranges and surrounded by cool temperate rainforest.

It has been in operation since 1964.

Healesville Sanctuary hosted Hop Fest on the weekend of 2-3 November highlighting the Yarra Valley's best craft beer brewers and all that the sanctuary has to offer.

Visitors had the opportunity to meet the makers and sample their brews, in a celebration of the Yarra Valley's rich brewing history.

As a special treat, Watts River Brewing created three new beers especially for the event, taking inspiration from some of Healesville Sanctuary's residents - the blue-tongue Lizard, helmeted honeyeater, smokey mouse and, of course, the brush-tail rock-wallaby.

Watts River co-owner and brewer Aaron Malmborg said, "We've brewed for beers for this event and we've based them on native species.

"All three of them are endangered species and one of them is the blue-tongue lizard, which we have a lot of at the brewery.

"For the bush-tail wallaby we did a hoppy wheat beer based on their diet and what the keepers told s they feed on.

"For the blue-tongue, we've done a beer sour ale, i'm told they really like their berries.

"We did a smoky lager for the smokey mouse and also a big 12 percent farmhouse wheat wine for the helmeted honeyeater."

The wildlife inspired beverages were brewed exclusively for Hop Fest.

"Today has been really good, it's been pretty steady. There were heaps of people here even though it's really wet. Good on them," Mr Malmborg said.

As well as a great day out, Hop Fest was for a good cause too, with event tickets contributing to the recovery of the brush-tailed rock wallaby.

Changes to habitat and the impact of feral cats, foxes and goats has led to the isolation of the few remaining populations of the brushtailed rock-wallaby.

U3A to hit the big stage

By Jed Lanyon Healesville U3A's production will return to The Memo for two shows on Sunday 24 November and Saturday 30 November.

This year marks the sixth annual edition of the production, which has grown enormously each year, to now feature high quality lighting and sound as well as stage effects to go along with their two shows, Town Fair and Adventure Island.

Healesville U3A vice-president John Pascoe said there are about 25 to 30 people involved over the two productions.

"It's good to be in a position to entertain and have fun," he said.

"The thing I enjoy most is that there are people in the retirement stage who are getting up dancing around and enjoying themselves.

"I hope the audience can take away a sense of fun and enjoyment and a sense that they had a really good, fun afternoon.

"There are members who have been involved with musicals or choirs or theatre shows, and this is just providing another avenue for them in a slightly more light-hearted kind of way but never the less serious.

"There is an awful lot of talent in Healesville and a lot of people who are retired, who are looking to do more.

"They are energetic, they like to sing, dance and laugh. There's a wonderful camaraderie about it."

Writer and director Lois Thwaites said that rehearsals had been very busy so far.

"Town Fair is a musical based on a small town, probably like Healesville, who are holding a big state fair ... There are a lot of real oneliners in there, it's a real comedy," she said.

Adventure Island is a continuation from last year's production where travellers are shipwrecked on an island featuring witches, mermaids and pirates.

The U3A cast assembled for a full dress rehearsal. 199409 Ms Thwaites said that Adventure Island features many Disney show tunes to keep children entertained.

She shared how the production had grown in its sixth year.

"The very first one was a performance and afternoon tea in the Yarra Glen Hall ... Maybe about 60 people were there.

Now the U3A group will play in front of 250 people in The Memo Hall, twice.

"I gave them all a heart attack by saying that

we really needed to do a third performance."

As the production date draws closer, the group will begin rehearsing three times a week.

But despite this, Ms Thwaites said she is already busy writing next year's production and hopes the event will continue to grow bigger and better.

"They all love it, they come back year after year," she said.

Underage VHM event

By Jed Lanyon Young people in the Yarra Ranges are invited to meet up with friends, dance and hang out at a low-cost and inclusive event being held in Yarra Junction.

VHM Underage is an upcoming dance party for young people held in Yarra Junction, offering a safe space for 12-17 year olds in the area on Friday 22 November between 6-11pm.

The event features up-and-coming DJs, interactive games, chill-out areas, food and local services on offer.

The event is hosted by the Youth Action Group, a group made up of young people from across Yarra Ranges.

Youth Action Group member Avalon Waterfall, said YAG members know about the difficulties a young person in the Valley can face in accessing social events.

"The Youth Action Group recognises that a lack of youth activities and youth-focused spaces can contribute to feelings of isolation," Ms Waterfall said.

"The VHM Underage event is all about bringing a fun and enjoyable event to Yarra Junction.

"This will be a chance for young people to bust some moves, as well as providing a space to hang out with friends and interact with other young people. " The Youth Action Group has been working with Yarra Ranges Council to provide young people in the Valley with an enjoyable, safe

"VHM Underage focuses on preventing low self-esteem and mental health by creating an inclusive environment and increasing awareness of local youth services and support," Ms Waterfall said.

Terminator thrills crowds Terminator: Dark Fate Starring Natalia Reyes, Mackenzie Davis and Linda Hamilton Rated MA15+ Terminator: Dark Fate is a compelling, visceral thriller marred by severe unoriginality.

The plot has solid character development and balances internal and external conflict well: as Dani (Natalia Reyes) and her allies struggle against the deadly robot assassin hunting them, Dani grows more confident and accepts her destiny as resistance leader in the dire future ahead of them.

Mackenzie Davis is extremely versatile as Grace, Dani's cybernetically-augmented protector, conveying bravado, vulnerability and incredible prowess in the action sequences, and has fun adversarial chemistry with Linda Hamilton as veteran Terminator hunter Sarah Connor. Arnold Schwarzenegger provides deadpan levity and some touching moments as a Termi-

nator who grew a sense of compassion.

After several tame sequels, Dark Fate reinstates the bleak atmosphere and brutal intensity of the first two Terminator films, but retreads them extremely closely, down to individual plot beats and set-pieces.

Dark Fate attempts an intriguing metatextual layer, with Sarah and the Arnie Terminator coming to terms with the dark future they know while helping Dani and Grace prepare for a new apocalypse. However, little has changed in any practical sense, as a homicidal AI (Legion, instead of Skynet) is still sending robot assassins back in time; as such, the film's emphasis on passing on the torch for a changed future feels flimsy.

Terminator: Dark Fate has engaging performances and brutal thrills, but a very derivative plot structure and a hollow attempt to rework the Terminator mythos.

More medals for athletes

By Jamie Strudley Yarra Ranges Athletics athletes continued to excel at the Victorian All Schools Track and Field Championships over the weekend at Tom Kelly Athletics Track in Doncaster.

After the cold stormy conditions the week before, athletes only had to contend with wet but warmer weather this weekend.

YRA athletes earned six medals over the two days of competition.

Medals went to Grace Muller, Georgia Laven, Harrrison Van Duuren, Hayden Rooke, Kiara Flavel and Lily Peacock.

The club wishes to thank parents and club members who filled helper duties during the competition.

Helpers included Cathy Muller, Mike Willey, Erika Bedyn, Trish Flavel, Kathi Hewitson, Dave Laven, James Anderson, Andene Rooke, Jodi Wilkins, Jim Norman, Craig Wright, Larry Peacock, Lucas Taylor and Max Savill-Bentley.

The club also hosted its first twilight round of the season on Friday night at Morrison Reserve.

This saw a modified program with relays,

handicapped 100m races and an open 1000m handicap.

Athletes and spectators were full of excitement for the handicap races, while many little athletics athletes attempted the 100m multiple times.

Parents and little athletes also joined senior athletes in the open 1000m handicap.

Tickets are now availaible to the club's 50th Anniversary celebration evening at Easter Golf Club and the club's region relays are coming up in November.

Next weekend the club will return to a Saturday Morning program, warmups from 8.45am with the first event at 9am.

The club's seniors return to AVSL action with the relay round this weekend at Knox.

Registration are open for both Little Athletics (lavic.com.au) and the club's senior team via Athletics Victoria (athsvic.org.au).

The club welcomes and encourages all athletes of any age or ability.

Yarra Valley’s female cricketing talent is on display

By Anthony Sequeira The Yarra Valley is lucky to have two clubs field a senior women's cricket side each week, the experienced Launching Place and the up and coming Gruyere District.

Both sides compete in the CV Women's Community Cricket East Competition where they are currently playing in the T20 leg of the season.

Gruyere is in its third year and proving a side with bucketloads of potential.

Featuring young talents such as Natasha Vassallo and Stacey Mercuri, Gruyere has a young group who have grown up surrounded by cricket.

Yet to register a win this season, Gruyere will look to push its opposition each week and apply pressure with the knowledge that anyone can win a game of cricket with a strong collective performance.

Stacey Mercuri leads Gruyeres batting so far with 54 runs at 18 followed by Lisa Hilton with 23 at 11.5 while rose Hopkinson leads the bowling with two wickets at 10.5.

Launching Place has begun the year flying, sitting undefeated after six rounds.

The side possesses both deep batting and bowling lineups.

Containing the right mix of experience in the likes of club stalwart Donna Moore and Amanda Morrison mixed with the youth of the Parker girls plus many more, Launching Place has a variety of players to fill any role.

Typically in the Yarra Valley those who hear of a Parker leading run-scoring immediately think of run machine Stuart Parker.

But this year his daughters Caitlyn, 156 hs 87*, and Georgia, 56 hs 54, have continued the family trend of making bulk runs, hitting three half-centuries between them.

Christine Egan and Amanda Morrison have also hit half-centuries to show Launching Places' batting depth.

Michelle Goldsmith leads the bowling for Launching Place with six wickets at less than four runs apiece, meanwhile, six other bowlers have taken two wickets to spread the load.

Many of these girls also play junior cricket with the boys.

So far, two rounds in, the girls are undefeated and have had a number of strong contributors.

while Ameilia Kuth has two wickets at five with ball in hand to lead the bowlers.

In representative cricket, junior country week trial matches have begun for under-12 and under-14 boys.

The under-12s won their game thanks to a strong team performance, including 30 runs to Thomas Handasyde and a hat trick to Nathan Darvell.

Under-16 boys and the junior girl's sides will play practice matches in their trial squads in the coming weeks.

A very eventful week for Warburton on the rinks

Nice guy claims it all

By Garry Lewis Warburton Bowls Club's Tuesday midweek team played Chirnside Park 1 at home in superb conditions but went down, 64 to 52.

Rink scores were as follows: P. Summers 11/ 26; R. McKail 18/ 22 and G. Walsh 23/ 16.

They next play Upwey-Tecoma 1 away on 12 November.

On Saturday, Warburton 1 played Pakenham 1 away and managed to escape most of the rain to record an 85 to 81 victory.

By Ron Hottes Every club has a Gerry Hadfield; very popular, easy-to-get-on-with, friendly and encouraging.

In other words, a good all-round nice guy and valuable club member.

But when someone like Gerry starts winning Warburton Golf Club's daily comp frequently - at the ripe old age of 95 - the patience starts to wear thin.

Gerry's +2 at the club's 30 October PAR was better than the rest of the field, most of whom were 20 plus years his junior.

His remarkable and consistent efforts continued to inspire those involved at the club.

The runner-up, on a countback with a +1, was Phil 'Senior' Garside.

Balls only extended to 'square'.

Nearest the pin winners were Happy Gilmore (3rd), Mr. Hibbert (9th), Junior Garside (11th), P.K. (12th) and Mark Gunther (15th).

Just as the club thought Gerry couldn't enjoy any more success, he came and easily conquered this week's twilight competition with 20 points.

Trish Eldridge took the runner-up prize, on a countback, with 18 solid points.

If players scored 16, or better, they could claim a ball.

Nearest the pins went to Adam Patrick (10th), Grant Handasyde (12th) and Jason 'Kenno' Kennedy (15th).

Steuart Hawke had an impressive eagle on the long Par 5 14th.

At the club's 2 November stableford the

weather gods intervened, making for soggy conditions the entire day.

Barry Maltman handled the difficult conditions best with 39 points. To put this in context, the next best score was 34.

Those 34 points earnt David Hatt the runner-up prize, in what was a gutsy effort.

In the small field of about 20, balls crept down to 32.

Nearest the pins were won by President Hall (3rd), Alan 'Old-Man-River' Johnston, (5th), Shane Campbell (9th), Secretary Barratt (12th) and Hatty (15th).

Warburton Gold Club's club championships commence next week and details will be included in next week's report.
