Racecourse Road upgrade busts traffic congestion Motorists in Pakenham will be spending less time in traffic after a $70 million congestion-busting package was announced in March by the Morrison Government. The commitment will fully fund Pakenham’s Racecourse Road upgrade between the Princes Freeway and Henry Street. The upgrade will put traffic signals at the Bald Hill Road intersection, upgrade the freeway overpass and duplicate the interconnecting road. Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the project would be a gamechanger for local drivers. “This will solve the congestion headache problem for the more than 20,000 motorists who use this route every day,” Mr Morrison said. “This is about getting people home sooner and safer, spending more time with their families rather than stuck in traffic.” Minister for Cities, Urban Infrastructure and Population Alan Tudge said the upgrade would improve access to the Pakenham town centre and support the growing residential areas in the north and east. “It will be welcome news for

At the moment traffic congestion from the intersection makes it hard for customers to negotiate,” Mr Tudge said. “It will mean faster, safer and more reliable access between the Princes Freeway and Princes Highway, as well as into the Pakenham town centre.” La Trobe MP Jason Wood said taking action now was crucial to ensuring the area was equipped to allow for the strong residential

growth in the area. “The Morrison Government understands the importance of easing local congestion issues, particularly in areas such as Pakenham that are experiencing strong population growth,” Mr Wood said. “Traffic queuing from the intersection of Racecourse Road and Bald Hill Road, often extending back onto the freeway, is a well-known bottleneck and a safety issue. It is something we

are committed to fixing through the funding injection.” This funding builds on the Government’s additional $261.3 million investment announced recently for Melbourne under the nationwide Urban Congestion Package, as well as major congestion-busting investments such as the North East Link, Monash Freeway Widening, M80 Ring Road Upgrade, and the $5 billion commitment to deliver the Melbourne Airport Rail Link.

Wood wins $150,000 for 4Cs People in the Cardinia area experiencing financial crisis will continue to receive vital emergency support with $150,000 in funding for the 4Cs Crisis Relief Centre. La Trobe MP Jason Wood made the announcement in February. “I’m delighted to announce that my lobbying for transitional funding for 4Cs has been heard by the Federal Government,” Mr Wood said. “4Cs has been helping the community for more than 20 years with emergency finance, food relief, emergency accommodation, clothing, bedding, budgeting and financial advice, debt liaison, crisis and long term counselling. “4Cs has been helping someone in the Cardinia area every day since 1997. Last year alone they provided assistance to 1,453 clients.” Mr Wood said the Government would provide $150,000 over 12 months. “We can deliver this funding because we have a strong and growing economy and we are committed to supporting vulnerable Australians.” The Government committed more than $1.3 million per year

Labor can’t manage money, which means they end up coming after yours. Bill Shorten now wants to increase taxes by billions – on retirees, housing, incomes, investments, family businesses, superannuation and electricity.

4,135 La Trobe residents would be hit by Labor’s Retiree Tax (abolishing tax refunds for share dividends). This changes the goal posts and punishes those who have worked hard and saved for retirement. It would increase reliance on the Age Pension. 11,908 La Trobe residents invest in a rental house or lat using negative gearing. Labor would abolish negative gearing as we know it and increase capital gains tax by 50%.

Labor’s Housing Tax would reduce property values, push up rents and damage our economy. With the housing market softening, now is the worst time to do this. 4,331 La Trobe residents receive a net capital gain on investments – Labor are increasing capital gains tax by 50%, giving Australia one of the highest rates in the world. This would not only afect housing, but shares and other assets.

LABOR’S TAX AGENDA Labor would cut our legislated income tax relief in half, increasing taxes on workers by $70 billion over a decade. As incomes rise, more people will be pushed into higher tax brackets. 1,569 La Trobe residents would also be hit by Labor reintroducing the 2% Budget Repair Levy – despite the fact we will be delivering a surplus. This would increase the top tax rate to 49%. Under Labor, 1 million Australians would be paying the top tax rate within 6 years. 2,030 La Trobe residents have a small business (turnover under $10 million) structured through a trust. They do this for asset protection, estate planning or to manage cash low. They would be hit by Labor’s Family Business Tax – a minimum 30% tax rate (with no tax free threshold – this is the same rate as multinationals). Labor wants to cut carbon emissions by 45% and replicate South Australian Labor’s 50% renewables target. This would mean higher power prices and a less reliable system.

Ambitious build A 520-seat auditorium and cafe planned for Officer township could rival the Cardinia Cultural Centre as a venue for large group gatherings. Cardinia Council approved ambitious plans for the Tivendale Road development at Monday night’s town planning meeting. Proposed by the Follow Baptist Church, the venue would be used principally as a church,

but would be available to schools, community groups and other organisations for use. The church group also planned to base some of its community projects - such as the Bless Collective food van that operates at Bourke Park - at the venue. The build would include 157 car parking spaces, and a later, second stage, would include further meeting rooms and storage, if approved.

In welcoming the plans, Cr Brett Owen said the church was being treated like any other developer and would be required to also build its section of a shared footpath and make a $500,000 developer’s contribution. He said this would be hard for the church, but they hadn’t shirked. Councillors also applauded the group’s de-

cision to build in the township - with the additional costs of being in the Urban Growth Boundary - and being part of the community, rather than seeking land in the surrounding green wedge areas. In backing the plan, Cr Leticia Wilmot also noted the venue would have a greater seating capacity than the Shire’s own 356-seat Cultural Centre.

Green light for Aldi German retail giant Aldi has finally received the go-ahead for a supermarket on Pakenham’s Henry Street, it’s second in the rapidly developing suburb. Refused a planning permit in February this year, Aldi took the Cardinia Council to VCAT claiming the application had not been dealt with in the required 60-day time limit. Subsequent negotiations have resulted in a win, of sorts, for both parties. The item was noted in the agenda at Monday night’s Cardinia Council town planning meeting and passed without comment. The earlier refusal was due in part to concerns from council’s planners that the supermarket’s blank loading bay wall would front the Henry Street site. Henry Street is now the key access point from Racecourse Road through to the CBD and is lined with newly built townhouses. It was feared the supermarket’s loading bay would not fit in with this attractive new face of Pakenham central. As part of the resolution, Aldi will now place offices and a more visually appealing glass facade along the Henry Street frontage. Cardinia Council’s infrastructure and environment acting general manager Andrew Barr indicated this week that the process - stretching back to July 2018 - had been drawn out but had come to a satisfactory conclusion.

Cardinia town planners were concerned that a new Aldi supermarket's back end - its loading bay would be the front face of a store planned for Henry Street, Pakenham. “The submitted plans proposed a truck loading bay as the dominant feature facing Henry Street” Mr Barr said. “This was not supported by the council as it did not provide an attractive and activated frontage, which was reiterated by council officers at a VCAT Compulsory Conference on 15 February 2019. As a resolution was unable to be made at this point in time, and a two-day VCAT hearing was set for early April. “Following the Compulsory Conference, amended plans were circulated and agreed upon by all parties, which saw the offices (with

extensive window glazing) fronting Henry Street, in place of the blank loading bay wall. “In light of this, a consent order was prepared and lodged with the Tribunal, who consented to issuing an Order to grant a planning permit. “A planning permit was issued 4 April 2019, which permits the construction of a building and associated works; construction and display of advertising signs, and sale of packaged liquor for the purposes of an Aldi supermarket.”

Finding furever homes for wayward pets By Mitchell Clarke The humans behind a group of animal rescues came together to protect some of the most vulnerable furry friends. Meow Rescue, SAVE the Pets, Australian Animal Rescue Inc and FurKids Rescue collaborated on Sunday 5 May to try and find forever homes for the animals in most need. Louise Rezel from FurKids Rescue said the event raised much needed funds for each rescue group through a garage sale, barbecue, bake sale and face painting. "It was a day of smiles and laughter as some of us met for the first time," Ms Rezel said.

"Definitely a moment to be proud as we were all working as one. "To have support, encouragement and networking with each other means we can run our rescues more efficiently and know we are not alone." The friends all share the same passion to making the world a better place for animals. "Rescue is a tough gig but we all do it because we care and believe we can all make a positive difference to save the innocent lives that have been neglected by other humans," Ms Rezel said. "All animals deserve to be respected, loved, safe and warm."

When Neloo Kreltszheim was introduced to the pencil at an art course, she fell in love with it instantly. Now, the Casey artist has launched her first book 'The Humble Pencil' with the hope other artists will consider the "value of pencil art." It was launched at the opening of her retrospective of pencil works at the SECAN Gallery at Akoonah Park in Berwick on Saturday 4 May. Her book contains her humble creations of portraiture, wild life, flora, fauna and landscapes in graphite pencil, colour pencil and pastel pencil produced across almost 30 years of work. She said, sadly, pencil art had been "neglected" in favour of other traditional materials including water colour and oils. "I am amazed to see the standard of pencil drawings and the beauty it creates," she said. Born in Sri Lanka, Neloo qualified as an architect after immigrating to Melbourne in 1973. While her children were at school she decided to take a step back from architecture and returned to tertiary study art - her first love. She then worked as a graphic artist for the Leader Newspaper Group before starting her own private art classes for children and adults in Dandenong in 1990. The 'Palette and Paintbrush School of Art' was one of the first art schools established in the South East, and following its success, she expanded her classes to the Casey, Knox and Monash municipalities. History was on display at the historic Fisherman's Cottage in Tooradin last Saturday. The Cottage played host to the National Trust's Heritage Festival, held in conjunction with the City of Casey. A number of historical societies from around the Cranbourne region attended, including the Cranbourne Shire Historical Society and the Dandenong High School Ex-Students Association. The Narre Warren Family History Group helped visitors delve into their family tree. The museum at the Fisherman's Cottage was open all day, showcasing life in the 19th and 20th centuries. Visitors explored the old one-teacher school, and a shed which houses historical fishing gear. The afternoon was capped off by a boat tour of Western Port Bay, during which marine expert Greg Hunt explained the importance of the bay's biodiversity. Barry Freeman, a committee member of the Cranbourne Shire Historical Society, said around 100 people ventured out to the cottage. "It was a big day and we're happy with the response - people who came really enjoyed it, and those who hadn't been before were surprised at what we had there," he said. He said there was a strong feeling of nostalgia, as people re-discovered old artefacts and reminisced on seeing their parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles use them in years gone by. The Fisherman's Cottage itself is a historical monument in its own right, Mr Freeman added.

OPINION Casey at a ‘crossroads’ Casey council's endorsement for Cr Rosalie Crestani as Deputy Mayor should be withdrawn in view of the fact that Cr Crestani is a member of Danny Nalliah's "Rise Up Australia Party" (RUAP). This is a party that strongly opposes multiculturalism and is, furthermore, in denial about climate change - notwithstanding overwhelming scientific evidence showing global warming is a serious threat to the natural environment and our quality of life. The ratepayers and residents of Four Oaks Ward deserve better and Cr Crestani's connection with the RUAP seriously compromises Casey Council's capacity to deal with some of the biggest issues now impacting on the future of Casey, including high population growth and global warming. Cr Crestani and the RUAP do not accept the validity of scientific methods or evidence as the basis for public policy and decision making. Casey is now a city at the crossroads. The old conservative model of leadership which demonizes multiculturalism and science needs to be rejected in favour of a leadership model more focused on our future and the issues impacting on our health and quality of life, such as inequality, transparency in government, waste and rubbish recycling and climate change. Instead of thinking about junkets to China, Israel, and the United States, for example, Casey council and Cr Rosalie Crestani should be planning and showing leadership and plans for dealing with Casey's waste and recycling crisis. While waste and rubbish is being dumped on the Doveton nature trail and in the Kidds Road Underpass, Casey's Deputy Mayor has been focused on getting elected to the senate! I call on Casey council to withdraw Cr Rosalie Crestani's Deputy Mayor role and appoint someone interested in local community issues,recycling, climate change, and transparency in government. Josh brings home gold By Brendan Rees Josh Sullivan, 12, has reached new heights in Little Athletics, taking out gold and silver medals in the Hobart championships. The Cranbourne Little Athletics member, who began participating at age five, was recently selected for the national team and invited to the Australian Little Athletics Championships held in Tasmania 27-28 April. There, Josh won gold in the triple jump, and silver in the four by 100 metre relay events in the under 13 boys. It was the first time Josh has competed in a national competition where he also competed in high jump, and selected to be a team leader during the championships. Josh said his goal was to train hard to one day win gold: "I have competed at many regional and state level competitions, but never for nationals. It felt amazing to achieve gold for an event (triple Jump) that I love the most," he said. "I can't wait for the new season to begin next year." Proud father Mark Sullivan said Josh competed at Cranbourne Little Athletics Centre at Casey Fields every Saturday morning during summer. "In the lead up to Tasmania, Joshua had various training days with Victoria's best coaches who also included the experience of a camp to help encourage a team environment," he said. "As a father of Joshua I feel very proud of him. Proud of the way he set himself a goal and how he achieved it was outstanding and proves what a remarkable young man he is.

Mauriceâ€™s fight for cure By Brendan Rees A Clyde North man who lost his wife and son to Huntington's disease is determined in his fight to find a cure. The rare genetic condition that affects the brain, and worsens over time, has meant Maurice Browne's family has been diagnosed with the disease. This gene is passed on from parent to child, but the condition isn't obvious at birth. The symptoms usually, but not always, first appear when the person is approaching middle age. Unfortunately there is no cure or effective treatment for this disease and therefore Huntington's disease remains fatal. Maurice, who lives at Selandra Rise Retirement Village, says his daughter Sharon, 50, was diagnosed with Huntington's disease four years ago and requires help with household jobs such as cleaning dishes. "She can (clean around the house) but it's best not to, accidents might happen," Maurice says. His wife Mary was diagnosed with Huntington's diseasein her early forties and lost her battle 11 years ago. His oldest son also died from the disease, age 49. Today, Maurice's grandsons Mitchell, 27, and Philip, 30, have been diagnosed with the disease. "Mitchell's already got the symptoms; it came on early, we don't know why. He's already receiving the disability pension already," Maurice explained. "It's supposed to follow family history but sometimes it doesn't because it's so random." Symptoms include changes to a person's thinking, feeling, and lack of coordination, speech and swallowing difficulties. Being a genetic disease, each child of a parent with Huntington's disease has a 50 per cent chance of inheriting the defective Huntingtin gene. Maurice says he's trying to stay positive

How long have you been involved with Cranbourne U3A? About four years ago I approached U3A Cranbourne with the idea of starting a cycling group for seniors. That has led to me starting a table tennis group and becoming involved on the committee. What activities do members love most with the U3A? Our art and crafty classes are always popular. The new line dancing class continues to grow and as always friendships develop within all classes. At school I.... I disliked history but enjoyed geography and playing hockey as a sport. My most memorable moment in recent times is the sheer beauty and drama of the 100 metre rock face and lighthouse buildings atop, when rounding Wilson's Promontory at daybreak in my partner's 40 foot yacht. What is it you love about the City of Casey? I love the libraries and network of public spaces and cycling paths. Where is your favourite holiday spot in Australia? Northern Queensland, Mission Beach. Best music concert you have been to see? Not into music but a couple of years ago we saw the Twelve Tenors in Melbourne.

Cardinia families are encouraged to register for 2020 kindergarten places by 5pm, Friday 28 June 2019, for first round offers. Kindergarten is a play-based learning program that builds children's confidence, enhances their social and language skills, expands their physical abilities and prepares them for schooling. In Cardinia, council provides a central registration service for both three-year-old and four-year-old community kindergarten programs offered in its facilities. The four-year-old kindergarten program is partially funded by the Victorian Government for up to 15-hours per week for eligible children who are four years-old on or before 30 April in the year they attend kindergarten. Additionally, other subsidies may be available depending on different criteria. The three-year-old kindergarten program is not currently government funded and usually only includes sessions up to six hours per week.

To register in a three-year-old program the child needs to have turned three years old by the time they will start the program. Council's acting general manager liveable communities, Tracey Parker said the application process is all online using council's central registration portal, providing an easy, stepby-step process for parents. First round offers for four-year-old kindergarten will be emailed to parents from Monday 8 July 2019. Any registrations received after 5pm on Friday 28 June 2019 will be processed in later rounds and throughout the year as places become available or as required. Cardinia Council will email first round offers for families for the 2020 three-year-old kindergarten places from Monday 5 August 2019. Chinese exhibition: Experience the City of Casey's first Chinese exhibition as Bunjil Place is transformed into a time capsule showcasing the lifestyle of the Han Dynasty through an authentic and replicas of findings from the royal tomb, a short film about Marquis Haihun, a virtual tour of historic royal buildings, traditional Chinese lacquer artwork and how this 2,000-year-old technique is being used by modern artists to crate beautiful artwork, 3D digital representations of relics found in the royal tomb. Friday 7 - Monday 10 June from 10am- 5pm at Bunjil Place Studio. Free entry.

Conductor wanted The conductor of The Fenix Chorale Inc. is looking at retirement in the not so distant future and is seeking a deputy to start to assist at the moment and eventually take over.The choir sings four part works; anything from light opera to modern songs. The 30 members are senior citizens and practices are held at Woodlands Retirement Village, 72 Kangan Drive, Berwick in the auditorium, on the first, second and third Wednesday afternoons of the month from 2.30 - 3.45pm. Several concerts are held during the year at villages and churches in the local area. Warriors pick up key wins By Mark Paxton The Pakenham Warriors came away from the Big V basketball weekend with four wins and two losses. The Division 2 men had the first of two double-headers over the weekend on Saturday night against Southern Peninsula in what was an intense game from the first tip. Josh Dow (26 points on 50 per cent shooting) was big for the Warriors, but it was not enough as 24 turnovers cost the Pakenham side, which went down by seven points, 90-83. The team looked to turn it around for Sunday's game against Maccabi, but a slow start had the Warriors down 12 after just three minutes of play. After chipping away at its deficit, Pakenham took the lead and claimed a tight 76-70 win on the road. Josh Dow and Daniel Steen combined for 40 points in a dominant showing. Head coach Brent Russell spoke after Sunday's win and was pleased to get the victory after a slow start. "Being down 12 three minutes in, we made a few slight adjustments and we slowly chipped away," Russell said. "We weren't ready for a zone and haven't faced a lot of it. It will be a big week on the training court to prep for our next game at home next week." The Division 2 women sit a game clear on top of the ladder after another convincing performance on Saturday. The Warriors took care of Blackburn, 7951, with import Daphnee Frieson scoring 15 points and pulling down 15 rebounds, while young star Ellie Coutts recorded 11 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists, 6 steals and 3 blocks in just 25 minutes of game time. When asked why he didn't allow Coutts to go for a quadruple double, head coach Simo Pajdic responded simply.

With the form that Coutts is in, there will undoubtedly be many more chances in the future. The Youth League 2 men entered Saturday's game undefeated and on top of the ladder. They knew this was going to be no easy feat, with Chelsea having key additions coming home from the US college system. It proved pivotal with Chelsea out-running Pakenham and handing the Warriors their only loss so far this season, 75-71. Matt Berkec (17 points and 14 rebounds) and Ned Weideman (14 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists) were impressive in the loss. A double-header saw Pakenham have a second chance on the weekend and faced the

Maccabi Warriors. Two more big performances from Matt Berkec (17 points) and Ned Weideman (16 points) helped Pakenham to a seven point win, 75-68, to remain on top of the ladder. Head coach Braden Venning was happy with the win. "The boys came out fired up and used a big third quarter to gain the lead and get the W," he said. "Trent Andre was huge off the bench connecting on 5/9 three-point attempts and finishing the game with 17 points in the win." The Youth League 2 women finally found some form with a big win over Coburg on the road, defeating the Giants by 42 points, 83-41. The Warriors came out strong; trapping the ball and causing an array of turnovers. The big lead meant the Warriors could rest some starters and get the bench a good run with develop-

This was Arnason's fifth double-double in just eight games; an exceptional run for the young big. Head coach Matthew Innes was pleased with his team after the game. "To our girls' credit, we were locked in and ready for the fight," he said. "Jasmine Ralls and Alahna Arnason were huge for us each scoring double figures. "The girls have been working super hard on the training court and are now receiving rewards." The Youth League 2 women now move up to sixth on the ladder and could enter the finals race again with a win next week.

By Hayley Wildes "The board put it towards the clubs to get some feedback on what they thought about the potential of having six clubs come in and basically they were all pretty unanimous in saying no." Operations manager of the Ellinbank & District Football League (EDFL) Ken Moore put it simply when asked why the league recently rejected the application of all six Alberton Football Netball League (AFNL) clubs to join the EDFL in 2020. "There were a number of varied reasons, but the main reason was that we've had something like five changes to the structure of the league in about seven years and the clubs are just getting frustrated with how unsettling that's been," Moore continued. "Furthermore, geographically we don't believe that a lot of those teams are compatible with our league - they're more compatible with Mid Gippsland. "A lot of our clubs expressed their dissatisfaction with the extra travel that would be required and they felt their ability to attract players would be diminished because players aren't going to want to travel." Moore also highlighted a number of issues that would arise in the junior competitions as another reason for their decision, as well as the administration and competition standard issues with having a 16-team league. The impending disbanding of the AFNL has left Fish Creek, Foster, Meeniyan Dumbalk United, Stony Creek, Tarwin and Toora without a league for the 2020 season and while Moore expressed sadness in seeing a storied league such the AFNL unable to stay afloat, he was adamant that accepting all six clubs wouldn't be a positive for the EDFL. "There's just more negatives than positives from a club perspective - when you look at the reasons why, it's pretty overwhelming," he said. "We gave [EDFL] clubs the chance to put their two bobs in and if it was five-all or a few of the clubs wanted change, the board would've considered the application, but the mere fact is that they've unanimously said we

What's known is that all six AFNL clubs have the right to appeal the EDFL's decision and must do so by the end of this week, with any appeals to be considered by the AFL Gippsland Commission within 21 days. "When the [AFNL clubs] likely appeal which is within their rights - the decision will be out of our hands; the decision will be back with AFL Vic to make a determination and we were told that the AFL Victoria Country handbook rules override our constitution." Moore said. Asked if he knows whether the EDFL has the right to appeal any decision made by AFL Victoria or AFL Gippsland, Moore was unsure. "I don't know," he said. Eagles stun hapless Dogs By Nick Creely OUTER EAST FOOTBALL PREMIER AND DIVISION 1 REVIEW ROUND 3 An extraordinary masterclass in the wet and windy conditions saw Beaconsfield secure their first victory of the AFL Outer East Premier season on Saturday in a drubbing of Wandin at Holm Park. Leigh McQuillen's side - after two narrow losses to begin life in the new competition stunned the Bulldogs in an incredible performance, running out 110-point winners and showcasing why they are one of the great attacking threats at their very best, 20.13 (133) to 3.5 (23). In their first trip down to the south-east to take on one of their new rivals, the Bulldogs were blown away early, with the home side absolutely clinical with their ball movement, scoring five unanswered majors to take a fivegoal lead into the first break. With Scott Meyer up and running and dominating proceedings - as well as the likes of the impressive Jamie Plumridge looking a menace in attack - the Bulldogs couldn't hit the scoreboard until the second term when young gun Patrick Bruzzese found a major, with the home side extending their lead to 59-points at halftime. From there, things didn't get easier for the Bulldogs, with the home side completely flattening the visitors in a scintillating third term, before slamming on a further four in the final term to extend the margin to beyond three figures. McQuillen told the News that this win was a bit of a statement from the club after a disappointing opening couple of rounds for his highly-touted side, and said that they went to work on the areas that have previously let them down. "We let ourselves down in Round 1 and made a marked improvement the week after against Narre Warren," he said. "It was a long fortnight after the Round 1 loss having had such a big pre-season winning all our practice games. "Taking nothing away from Cranbourne who are well coached, but we believe that we should've won that game especially after having 10 shots to two in the opening term. "Credit to them, they opened us up defensively and it's seen us spend 50 per cent of our time at training since then to defensively reset that. "We've seen in the past two weeks that we're a lot more defensively sound without ball in hand. So out of a negative there's a positive and you have to look at the positives. "We feel that our first quarters have been fantastic over all three games. We set ourselves the task to play each 30 minutes as a separate game and the whole team made this a focus. In essence we wanted four first quarters and that's what we produced against Wandin which was pleasing." Making the win all the more impressive was the bursts of rain sweeping across the ground throughout the day, with the Eagles enjoying 10 individual goal kickers, including Plumridge who slotted five and Matthew Johnson with four. Experienced heads Sean Dwyer and Jake Bowd were also instrumental in the win, while Bruzzese was the best on a dirty day for the Dogs. McQuillen said the Eagles were prepared for the wet and windy conditions, and had to adjust accordingly. "We watched the conditions all week and knew what was coming," he said. "We selected a forward line suited to the conditions and the pressure they provided was exceptional. "With the ball on the ground a lot more we had a lot of players up there with great closing speed and pressure which worked exceptionally well. "The ground was in good nick too which helped and we were clean from the outset. Our focus this year has been on being more attacking so it was pleasing to see that pay off." After the visitors took a narrow lead into quarter time, Olinda took control to kick six goals to four in the final three-quarters, but probably should have won by more after having 25 scoring shots. Woori Yallock also enjoyed a strong win against Cranbourne, with the Eagles venturing down to take on the Tigers for the very first time. The Tigers started slowly, and were unable to get their game moving as the Eagles settled quickly, spreading nicely and using razorsharp foot skills to cut the game apart.
