Grieving family and friends are raising money to support Eden Herbert-Allan's wife and four children. The Wandin North 33-year-old was killed when a tree fell during strong winds as he drove on the Warburton Highway in Lilydale about 11am on Friday 10 August. His older sister, Lozza Croxford, started a Go Fund Me page to support Eden's wife, Michelle, and their children. "Losing my little brother has by far been the most difficult day of my life to date, but raising four children under six years old without their dad is unimaginable," she wrote. "As much as we can, we will support the beautiful wife and four children he leaves behind. "Michelle will need more than we can give her, and myself and my family would like to ask you all for help. "Please share this cause and help my beautiful sister-in-law." In tributes on Facebook, friends described Eden, a cabinet maker, as "such a kind-hearted person" and "an amazing guy with the biggest heart, always with a smile on your face". Police at the scene said he was travelling west in his maroon-coloured Holden Commodore sedan when the tree came down across the road. Boronia Police Senior Sergeant Mal McKern said investigations were ongoing but it appeared the driver swerved to avoid the tree, and crashed into another tree on the opposite side of the highway. There were no other vehicles involved and Eden was alone in the car. He died at the scene. Earlier the same day, a driver and passenger had a near-miss on Don Road in Healesville. A falling branch smashed through their windscreen, causing minor injuries to the passenger. The entire tree followed just after the vehicle passed. Yarra Ranges Council had a grader at the Don Road incident and waited for fallen power lines to be cleared before removing the tree. The State Emergency Service reported trees down across the Yarra Ranges including at Powelltown, Olinda, Millgrove, Belgrave South, Healesville, Warburton and Menzies Creek. Police are calling for anyone who witnessed Lilydale crash, or who might have dash-cam footage, to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Visit www.gofundme.com/widowed-at-31 to support Eden's family.
