LONG-TERM LOCALS MAKE THEIR MARK AS children in the 1980s Alex Rigby and Rob McCready pursued epic adventures around what is now the Noosa Springs resort.

Today the childhood mates are local developers and fellow directors of the Altum Property Group, the name behind the hugely popular Parkridge Noosa development.

“Both Rob and I have lived around Noosa since we were young children,” Alex said.

“We used to play within what is now the Parkridge site as kids so we have developed a real affinity with the area as well as an understanding of what is required to ensure it is in keeping with the local environment.”

With sweeping, 180-degree water views, and surrounded by protected bushland, it’s easy to see why the pair are so passionate about ensuring Parkridge Noosa fulfils its obligation as a high-quality sustainable development.

Rob is a licensed builder with over 21 years of experience in design, construction management and sustainable building and Alex has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Property Economics and 20 years of history in property development.

The pair came together a decade ago to create Altum Property Group.

“We first started working out of a three-bedroom house and one of the first projects we did was to build a new office complex,” Rob said.

“We chose Peregian to base ourselves because we saw a gap for a quality local builder with the same values as the people who live there, that means a strong focus on community, family and sustainability.”

Over the years Altum has won dozens of industry awards for sustainability as well as quality workmanship, and Rob believes these are two key factors that separate Altum from the crowd.

ACCOLADES FOR HIGH ACHIEVERS

BY TESSA MAPSTONE THE past 12 months have been a busy, yet rewarding year for Rachel Sellman, Sales Executive for Century 21 Conolly Hay Group, with her dedication and hard work earning her a state-wide recognition amongst the industry.

Mrs Sellman has been named Century 21’s Top Salesperson of the year for Queensland, and she stood alongside a host of her outstanding colleagues as she accepted her award during the Century 21 QLD Annual Awards held in Brisbane last week.

Runner up for the Top Salesperson of the year went to her Century 21 Conolly Hay Group colleague Gavin Ryan from the group’s Peregian Beach office.

THE latest land valuations for properties in Noosa, the Sunshine Coast, and 20 other local government areas in the state, have just been released.

It will come as no surprise to locals that land values in Noosa have jumped by 11.3 per cent since the last valuation in 2016, the largest increase among coastal council areas assessed.

Sunshine Coast land values have increased by 10.4 per cent, well above the state-wide average of 8.8 per cent.

The newly-released 2018 Property Market Movement Report reveals infrastructure construction, strong tourism activity and continued demand for coastal living have driven the local growth in value.

The greatest demand centred around mid-priced coastal properties and those in smaller towns along the North Coast rail line, like Yandina, Nambour and Landsborough, which offer a more affordable option for buyers.

Queensland’s Valuer-General Neil Bray said increased values were a trend that continued over much of the state.

“These increases are owed to a robust tourism industry and increased migration in several coastal centres as well as our strong agricultural industry - particularly in the cattle and sheep grazing regions across Central Queensland,” he said.

“Overall, rural land values have increased throughout the state - a great indicator of market confidence in Queensland’s rural and regional areas.”

The median value for residential land in Noosa is now $270,000, up 13.7 per cent from 2016, and $202,500 for rural residential land, up by 8 per cent.

Queensland’s Valuer-General is tasked with issuing land valuations used to determine council rates, state land tax and rental pricing for leasehold land.

New land valuations were made available on 7 March. ●
