Exclusion zone A lack of footpaths and public transport has left Pakenham's Bald Hill Road inaccessible to people with a disability, a local father argues. John Copeland, who himself is wheelchair bound, highlighted the challenges posed by people with a disability at Cardinia Shire Council's 19 February meeting, telling councillors that despite its goal to become an inclusive community, areas such as Bald Hill Road were quite the opposite. Mr Copeland said the lack of footpaths left people with a disability and parents with prams unable to access the industrial estate's

family entertainment and employment services. Not everyone had a second car, he said. "It has been impossible to walk to any of the children play centres in Pakenham as there is no connecting footpath for approximately 200 metres along Bald Hill Road between the Racecourse Road roundabout and the factory complex at 100 Bald Hill Road," Mr Copeland said. Demonstrating an understanding that developers were required to construct footpaths as part of building plans, Mr Copeland questioned what the council's requirements were for existing developments. "The area's already developed. Does that

mean we're never going to get the footpaths connected?" Mr Copeland said. "If so where does that leave people who can't drive, who can't walk? There's no bus service up Bald Hill Road. Does that then make the whole inclusion thing a real joke?" Cardinia Shire Council general manager of assets and services Michael Ellis said trying to get adequate pedestrian links not only in the centre of town but on the outskirts was "always somewhat of a challenge". "And I guess it is more challenging due to the nature of development of Bald Hill Road as it is industrial development," Mr Ellis said. "We have on our rating system a priority of

about eight or nine for a link through there- so that's quite high in terms of connectivity and understanding the need for a footpath. "The issue is there are a number of establishments already in place. We can target where new developments occur but it's those missing links in between." The general manager said council tried to address through a special charge scheme, but that proved challenging. "Once again it's trying to get those linkages through," Mr Ellis said. He acknowledged Mr Copeland's situation highlighted "a need for us to advocate for better public transport links".

City of Casey Project Manager- Bunjil Place Close Out Projects, Mark Dibsdale said very strong winds last Thursday, 15 February caused a number of small roof cladding panels on the southern side of Bunjil Place to become dislodged and pushed back onto the roof. "The cause of the issue was a panel fixing, which has only been used on this particular section of the structure, which failed to hold in the gusty conditions," Mr Dibsdale said. "The roof has been made safe, engineers are investigating, and rectification works will be undertaken soon."

Blaze engulfs home A fire has gutted a single-storey house in Warneet on Tuesday, 6 February but luckily no one was injured. Emergency services were called to the Warneet Road address about 9am and found the house well-alight. Thirteen firefighters from Warneet, Tooradin and Cranbourne fire brigades fought the blaze and stopped its spread to surrounding homes. No one was home at the time and it's believed the fire started from the kitchen. Warneet Blind Bight fire brigade captain Hans Dekracker said the fire was contained by 11am but caused extensive damage to most rooms. "More than half the house is well and truly gone and the rest is water and smoke damaged," he said. "It got very hot in all the bedrooms paint

blistered off the walls." He said there were reports of an explosion being heard before the windows "blew out and then it really fired up" "Well done to the local firies to keep it from spreading" he said.

Graffiti crew leaves a mess A traffic collision between two vehicles including a graffiti removal truck resulted in the spillage of chemicals on a busy highway in Lynbrook on Friday, 9 February. Ten firefighters from Hallam and Hampton Park fire brigades responded to the incident on the South Gippsland Highway at about 11am. A Hazardous Materials Unit also attended to handle the chemical containment and cleanup. It's believed a drum carrying cleaning chemicals had split on the truck's load. The incident forced the closure of all northbound lanes on South Gippsland Highway near Evans Road. All lanes didn't reopen until about 1.50pm. Hallam Senior Station Officer Stephen Keating said in addition to the split chemical drum they had found another leak coming from the back of the truck. "After testing we were able to confirm that there was the water tank in the vehicle that had split as well." "We had at least one chemical drum that had split and two others lost their lids," he said. He said part of the highway was closed so firefighters could safely contain the chemicals. "It's an inconvenience to all the road users but better to be safe than sorry." No one was injured in the collision, he said.

Too much space in our newspapers is filled with crime - and too much of that crime involves the theft of someone's livelihood. Surely, after preying on the underprivileged or disabled, the next lowest crime is to effectively steal someone's job. Because if you're the kind of low-life who steals a tradie's tools, for example, then that's exactly what you're doing. And it's not just the tradies. Often a family is hurt, too, as a partner at home and the kids are also deprived of an income. Then comes the impact on business itself, and on the other companies the victim deals with. When a business is put out of commission through vandalism or the like, the results are the same. And we hasten to point out that these offenders are not starving, they're not seeking food - just items of value they can transform into cash. If someone has decided on a life of crime, it seems a forlorn hope that they might have some regards and consideration for their victims. Nevertheless, stopping this rash of crime against business might be a good first step to slightly easing the pressure on everyone at a difficult time. And here's a challenge to the not so heroic buglars and thieves - build something, rather than destroy it. Put your lives on the line, and try to start your own small business. - Jason Beck

Bail for accused burglar By Cam Lucadou-Wells A Hampton Park alleged ice addict has been charged with burglaries and handling more than $250,000 of stolen goods including a Christmas display reindeer at a Clyde shopping centre. Jovan Culibrk, 21, was bailed on strict conditions at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 19 February after spending 48 days ‘detoxing’ in remand custody. He will face a filing hearing on 1 March for the 53 charges to be heard at a higher court. Culibrk was on bail and a community corrections order when he allegedly grabbed the Christmas reindeer from outside Coles and drove away with it in the back of a ute on 11 December. After CCTV footage of the incident was posted on Facebook, the reindeer was found in parts wrapped in a blanket outside a Cranbourne retirement village, informant Sergeant

Chris Marlowe told the court. The alleged theft occurred three days after Culibrk’s residence was raided by police on 8 December, police alleged. Stolen property was allegedly seized by police from the residence and another property in Cranbourne North - both owned by older brother and co-accused Dejan Culibrk, the court was told. The items were sourced from numerous burglaries from homes and building sites, including a $63,300 burglary at Lyndhurst between 5-7 December. After the raid, Culibrk was arrested and bailed at Cranbourne police station on 8 December. While on bail, he allegedly took part in further burglaries and handled stolen goods totalling more than $60,000 including two stolen vehicles and the Christmas reindeer. One of the stolen cars was recovered burnt

out in Cemetery Road, Cranbourne on 2 January. Culibrk and his brother were arrested and charged with arson and property offences that day after being chased on foot in a Braeside industrial estate. “The accused has shown a complete disregard for the bail that he entered with police,” Sgt Marlowe told the court. Culibrk was believed to be a drug addict, using about 1 gram of ice a day, according to a police summary. A defence lawyer argued that Culibrk - being one of four co-accused - may have several charges dropped. If released on CREDIT bail, Culibrk would receive “some very good supports” for his drug and gambling issues from the CISP program, the lawyer said. “He does have a need for rehabilitation and he is willing to engage in that.”

Magistrate Pauline Spencer was satisfied that cause for bail was shown and Culibrk was not an unacceptable risk of reoffending. Ms Spencer noted Culibrk’s young age, his limited criminal history, likely trial delays and that he hadn’t previously been in custody. She was concerned Culibrk had not engaged in drug treatment while on a CCO. “Now you’ve detoxed, I’m confident you now have a clearer head.” Culibrk’s bail conditions include residing at a “stable” Frankston address, reporting to police twice a week and sticking to a night curfew. He was also ordered not to attend gambling venues, use illicit drugs or associate with his brother - who was in custody. “If you don’t follow these (bail conditions) to the letter, you will be back in custody,” Ms Spencer told him. Culibrk appears at a filing hearing at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 1 March.

Casey's only SES unit is in desperate need of more willing to put on the orange uniform. During wild 100km/h storms on 14 February, there were just five volunteers from Narre Warren SES free during the day to answer 50 calls for help across the municipality. Unit controller Clinton Brown said by evening, 10 members were available. But it still took until 11pm to clear the long call-out list for property damage and fallen trees. It was a "pretty crazy" day for the dedicated crew, underlining the need for more members. With a second SES unit for Casey still years away, the unit is seeking to double its 20-volunteer membership. The unit serves most of the City of Casey area - 250,000-plus residents over an enormous 400 square-kilometre area. It attends about 700 requests for help each year. Mr Brown became an SES volunteer nine years ago. It was one of the best decisions he made, he said. "I have learned so much, met some amazing people. "Being able to support and help the community in their time of need is such a good feeling." Mr Brown said volunteers received comprehensive training. No past experience or skills were required, just commitment and dedication, he said. The only requirements were attending weekly Wednesday night training, being 18 and over, being fit and healthy and having a drivers' licence and their own transport. Another key part of the job was going to community events, spreading word on how residents should prepare for storm emergencies. With so many new arrivals in Casey, Mr Brown said many still didn't know about the SES. The unit is holding an information at its headquarters at Vesper Drive, Narre Warren on Thursday, 8 March. What six guests, dead or alive, would you invite to a dinner party? Barack Obama, Robbie Williams, Maya Angelou, Cate Blanchett, Justin Trudeau, and of course - my husband!

What has been your most embarrassing moment? Unfortunately, I can be a little clumsy, so my most embarrassing moments have been falling over in public!

At school I ... was a goody two-shoes! What was your first or best concert? Best concert - Robbie Williams - always! (And yes - I'm seeing him again in March!)

Federation Uni's O-Week kicked off in style at its Berwick campus on 19 February, with yoga, barefoot bowling, a St Kilda beach day and climbing wall activities to round off the festivities. The campus also planned a multicultural welcome dinner and a market stall in the

opening days. Campus director Greg Jakob said 2018 was the university's first year of full control of the campus since the exit of Monash University. He said more than 800 students had enrolled this year - up from 350 last year. OPINION Front page news I've just read in our local paper (Star Journal) an article that completely blew me away. The article on the front page of the paper (22 January) concerns a problem that I have as well as Mr J. Sarweh, Mr P. Romari and other local residents. Yes it's with our Casey (haven't got the money, or it would cost too much) Council. If you're a resident of Casey, trying to get something done is Mission Impossible. I've sent letters and petitions signed by every resident in Fugosia Street to have speed humps erected because drivers use it as a way to dodge the traffic lights at the intersection of Box and Paperbark streets in the early mornings and evenings, from 3.30 to 6pm. Yes, another rat-run is in the too-hard bas-

Are the ratepayers going to have their rates increased to help pay for that 'Taj Mahal"? Surely while the Casey Council had their chequebook out to pay for Bunjil Place, they could have added $20,000 for speed humps in my street, and also for Mr J. Double trouble Dual citizenship has caused the resignation of many of the leading politicians.

The essence of Australian citizenship is the fact that over five million Australians are dual citizens. A very large percentage of these dual citizens have a right to vote and did exercise that right to vote. By extension the election of all the parliamentarians is illegal because they have been voted in by dual citizens. The government has two choices. One: To ban dual citizens from voting even though they may be Australian citizens. Two: To change the constitution by plebiscite allowing dual citizens to remain in Parliament and have the right to be elected to Parliament. The law cannot be right and wrong. Casey's controversial local law on drones may be unenforceable and should be put on hold, according to a council officer's report. The report published on 20 February recommends exempting people from the law until 30 June while the council decides whether to retain the law. The law prohibits people launching or landing drones on or from private property except with a council permit. The council's aim was to address inappropriate drone flying, safety and privacy issues. The rule came into effect on 1 January, attracting a swarm of criticism from drone flyers and their associations. Melbourne Drone Flyers group, which represented 1700 Facebook members, presented its concerns to the council this month. It highlighted that the Civil Aviation Safety Authority already regulated the issue and that it increased red-tape on drone-selling businesses. Since the law was enacted, Casey has not issued any drone-related infringements, received any complaints nor had any permit applications. "Officers have adopted an educative approach to the many changes within the local law since its commencement to support the community to comply with these provisions," its report stated. Casey Council says it is business as usual for its recycling service.

Bins still in By Cam Lucadou-Wells Casey Council says its recycling regime will be unaffected by a Chinese ban on the importing of certain waste materials. Casey's waste and landfill manager Michael Jansen said the council's contractor SKM Recycling - which collects from home recyclebins - already produced recyclable product to China's new, higher standard. SKM was developing additional processing facilities with the latest sorting technology, Mr Jansen said. "The recent changes in China's recycling policies has not affected Council operations and we ask residents to continue recycling as normal. "Collection services also remain the same" Recently, the Municipal Association of Victoria had warned China's ban could lead to all Victorians facing steep rate rises. "While rural councils have been the most

directly affected to date, it has become clear that the impacts will be statewide with significant cost implications likely for all councils and ratepayers," chief executive Rob Spence said. The MAV was trying to broker a resolution between councils, recyclers, collectors and the State Government to avoid significant cost to ratepayers, he said. Mr Spence urged households to continue recycling in the meantime. "Follow your Council's instructions about what goes into your recycling bin. "Also be mindful of your consumption choices, and buy products with recycled content to help close the recycling loop." China is reportedly the largest importer of recyclable materials in the world. Its ban on 24 categories of solid waste this year is believed to affect an annual average of 619,000 tonnes of material in Australia.

A man has been spared conviction after pleading guilty to trafficking cocaine in Fountain Gate shopping centre's car park. The man, through his lawyer, told Dandenong Magistrates' Court he was dealing drugs partly to fund hip surgery and partly to manage his chronic pain. A police patrol noticed the 22-year-old's ute driving slowly and with switched-on parking lights about 3.30am on 30 October. As police drove into the car park, the man drove out, U-turned across a concrete media strip and travelled north on Narre Warren North Road. Police intercepted him while he was stationary at green lights at the Magid Drive intersection. He initially told police he'd just dropped off his girlfriend to work at Casey Hospital. He had been looking for a fast-food outlet to buy a coffee. The man was lightly clothed without shoes despite the night's cold temperature. His mobile phone contained text messages offering to buy cocaine for various sums. Police seized a large amount of cash and more than $6000 worth of cocaine from his vehicle, as well as paraphernalia such as deal bags, ice pipe, digital scales and needles. The defence lawyer told the court on 19 February that the man had been born with a hip disease requiring several operations. "He's spent half of his life in and out of a wheelchair."

The man's expensive, upcoming hip-replacement surgery was not covered by private insurance. It was deemed by insurers as a preexisting injury, the lawyer said. The man worked hard in labouring jobs which had degenerated his hip condition. "He knows trafficking is very serious," the lawyer said. "He's gone about it the wrong way." The man's family, now aware of his predicament, will help fund his surgery. The man is no longer taking drugs and there was no reason to return to them postsurgery, the lawyer said. "His chances of rehabilitation are quite high. It's his first mistake." Magistrate Pauline Spencer said it was lucky for the man he was caught before his dealing escalated. Any trafficking was harmful, causing misery to other people, their families and the broader community, she said. She noted the extenuating circumstances, the man's remorse, his absence of priors as well as his strong and loving family. He had shown resilience to become dux of his trade school and nominated as an apprentice-of-the-year, she noted. "It shows how drug use can affect anyone in the community." The man was fined $4000 - with a year's stay allowing for the impending surgery's cost.

Reaching out for the stars As an exciting new addition to sports programs in Pakenham, Reach Gymnastics is now running classes for all ages in a brand-new facility. Gymnastics is a sport that everyone can participate in, from toddlers and school-aged children to teens and adults. And as owner of Reach Gymnastics Rebecca Tilley explained, Reach Gymnastics aims to help kids reach their full potential in life through fun, fitness, friendships and fundamentals. "Gymnastics provides a foundation in movement for life and it is so much fun!" Rebecca said. Adopt a pet RSPCA Victoria is expecting to "Clear the Shelter" this weekend with a $29 adoption fee for all animals for three days. Sports scientist James Raftery from ‘Your Body Hub’ attended the camp, putting the Storm netballers through their paces, ranging in age groups from junior development, 13, 15, 17 and under through to open squads. Raftery focused on the right sort of diet, exercise and hydration, stretching procedures both before and after each game. Anna Klaric from Inspire Physiotherapy addressed the players on Saturday evening, going through preventative measures to prevent serious injuries and the recovery procedures. Anna also explained the importance of the use of the different therapy rollers to condition the body to aid in the healing process. Cindy Armstrong, president of the Gippsland Storm, explained the importance of having physiotherapists and sports scientists involved with the club on a weekly basis. “It gives our netballers a step up in knowledge and understanding of their bodies, so if they want to take it to the next level with our sister club Monash Storm in the VNL, they are already well ahead of the game,” she said. The Storm is now looking forward to another successful Autumn season at the Waverley Netball Centre, matching it against some of the best netball tournament squads in the state.

The Gippsland Storm Elite Development Netball Club recently held its annual fitness camp at Allambee Camp just south of Yarragon in the Strzelecki Ranges. Close to 100 people, including players, coaches and support staff, attended the camp in preparation for the 2018 netball season. Eight squads of netballers were challenged and put through their paces during the first weekend at the start of February. During interviews with both WIN News and 9 News Gippsland, head coach Simon O’Shanassy explained that the focus of the camp was to build teamwork, discipline and the opportunity for the netballers to challenge themselves both physically and mentally to push themselves to a higher level. O’Shanassy went on to say that it was also a great time for the players to bond and to get to know each other to prepare for the upcoming season at Waverley. Isabella O’Shanassy represented Netball Victoria in the 13-and-under age group during the national titles held in South Australia just before Christmas. Her squad earned silver medals as runners-up during the titles. Gippsland Storm wises her all the very best, hoping she will continue her state representation in the future.

History repeats for Lions PAKENHAM BOWLS SATURDAY After a draw with ladder-leader Croydon and three wins on the trot, Pakenham One (Div1) was riding on a wave of confidence when the side arrived at Ferntree Gully on Saturday. However the Gully has long been a graveyard for visiting teams and unfortunately for Pakenham, history was to repeat itself. Playing on unfamiliar woven carpet, the Lions were behind early in the game and by the halfway mark faced a deficit of 20 shots. From there on it was an even contest but Pakenham was unable to reduce Gully's lead and eventually went down 89-69 but, with two rinks up, was at least able to salvage four Pennant points. The best rink with a 24-16 scorecard was that of Neil Devlin (S), Des Leigh (3), Stephen Arms (2) and Stephen Bentley (L). The ones held onto fifth spot on the ladder, now only six points behind Ringwood in fourth and nine ahead of Berwick, and are not without a chance of playing in the finals. They are at home to Ashburton (ninth) next round. It is hoped that the predicted rain does not amount to anything as a washout in the first half of the season robbed the Lions of valuable points against that opponent - and a second washout would be disasterous. On the home front, Pakenham Two (Div2) snatched a close win from old enemy Berwick by just two shots, 77-75. They began slowly and at the halfway mark were down on three rinks and behind by eight shots overall. However as the business end of the game approached, the Lions pushed hard to get two rinks up and miss out by only one shot on a third for an overall win. The best rink, winning nine of the last 10 ends, was John Tarr (S), Brian Biasci (3), Sandra Wilde (2) and Roger Till (L) with a 26-14 scorecard. The twos moved one rung up the ladder to eighth, now 11 ahead of Cranbourne RSL and 12 behind Hampton Park. They play away at Clayton (fifth) in round 17. Pakenham Three (Div 4), second on the ladder, was down the road at Noble Park (seventh). Their game was evenly-balanced in the early stages and it was still close at the halfway mark, with the Lions ahead by just three shots. However from there on Pakenham dropped into top gear and surged home to win 98-64 with three rinks up. The best of those, with a score of 32-14, was Kevin Donald (S), Sam Granieri (3), John Siekman (2) and John Ewe (L). The threes remain in second spot, four points ahead of Cardinia Waters and 24 in front of Mulgrave Country Club. They will be at home to Hampton Park (seventh) next round. It is always hard to win at Mulgrave Country Club but thanks to a huge score on Ray Illing's rink and close finishes on the other three, Pakenham Four was victorious on Saturday. The Lions started well on three rinks but were well down on the fourth yet by the halfway mark they had established a 20-shot lead overall and the rink which had been trailing was ahead, albeit by a single shot. Given that Cranbourne are 50 points ahead of the field in top spot, the fives did well to hold them to a five-shot win, 36-31, and collect two Pennant points. The best rink with a score of 22-11 was John Coote (S), Norm Buckley (2) and Ray Wood (L). The fives are still in fourth spot, equal on points with Black Rock but ahead on percentage. They play Black Rock at home in Round 17. MIDWEEK Sitting in fourth place on the ladder, the women's-only Pakenham One played host to second-placed Mount Waverley last Tuesday for what was expected to be a close contest. Kerry Lewis' rink got the jump on its opponent, winning the first five ends and setting the foundation for a good win. By the halfway mark, Pakenham was up on one rink, level on the second and trailing by a manageable margin on the third and ahead overall by 10 shots. By the end of play they had doubled that margin to win overall by 68-48 with two rinks up and

the third losing by only a single shot. The best rink, with a very healthy 27-11 score, was that of Kerry Lewis (S), Ave Jones (3), Anna Barrie (2) and Fiona Samson (L). The ladies are still in fourth spot, only six points behind Mount Waverley, now third, who have a bye next round. It is still possible for them to finish the season in second place. They are away at Glen Waverley (seventh) next round. Pakenham Two (Div 1 Open) was bayside for its match-up with Carrum. The Lions got away to a good start and by the halfway mark had established a lead of 10 shots. It was nip and tuck from there on but in the end it was Pakenham which prevailed with an overall score of 61-53, with two winning rinks and the other down by a single shot. The best rink was Keith Archer (S), Keith Lewis (3), John Moore (2) and Ashley Graham (L) with a 23-15 score card. The two's moved to third position on the ladder, one point ahead of Armadale and 10 behind Berwick. They are at home to Mentone (seventh) for the penultimate round. Also playing away, the top-of-the-ladder Pakenham Three (Open Div 3) had a close win against second-placed Cranbourne. The Lions were a little slow in getting started but by the halfway mark the score was all square with one rink up, one level and one behind. On fire Dave Lummis wins Cardy Waters consolidates PAKENHAM GOLF On Monday, 12 February the Pakenham Golf Club members played a Stableford event with Dave Lummis on fire, winning the competition with 45 points. Chris Dalton continued his fine form and was second with 41 points. John Kingman played well to finish with 40 points but this was only good enough for third place. Players needed 37 points to win a ball on the day. That Wednesday marked the Midweek Medal and also the playoff for the 2017 Medal of Medalists. A Grade was won by Chris Dalton with 43 points, ahead of John Kingman on 38 points. Ron Zomer won B Grade and the February Medal with 44 points. Peter 'Reedy' Korteman was runner-up in B Grade with 42 points. It was great to see Peter have a good round because his game has been more down than up lately. Chris Dalton also won the Supercomp with 22 points around the front nine. Players needed 36 points to win a ball. Rob Nobelius won a kitchen voucher for third with 22 points. The ladies played the second round of the Summer Cup on Thursday and the leaderboard was extremely bunched. There were two players on 34 points and another three players on 35 points. The winner was Jennifer Grogan with Carol Beard in second place and Anne Donovan third. One of Pakenham's new members dominated the competition on Friday. Congratulations must go to Graeme Durran, who scored 43 points to beat Tim Pratt on 41 points. Saturday's competition was Stableford and the A Grade winner was Anil Prakash with 39 points with Nick Angelopoulos with 37 points. The B Grade winner, with the best score for the day, was Mark Klaver with 42 points.

CARDINIA WATERS BOWLS The Cardinia Waters Saturday Division 4 side consolidated third place on the ladder with a hard-fought away win at Keysborough, a close one, 80-77. The big winner was the rink of Skipper Bill Hite with Gary Bondfield leading, Mick Knight second and David Blake third. They led from the third end and a big finish, 14 shots to three over the final six ends, saw them win 31-16. The other winner was that of Skipper John Van Vugt with Dennis Patmore, Bill Tippelt, and Gunter Baumbach. Theirs was a tight game with several lead changes. They were last to finish and had to protect a six-shot lead overall. They lost a three but it was good enough to win 21-19 and secure the ten points for the club. Bryan Stevens skipped for Marion Stevens, Rae Richardson, and Len Judge. They led early but lost seven consecutive ends to fall behind but fought back and lost a close one, 19-15. Phil Wynd with Cliff Heath, Bryan Anderson and Graeme Taylor battled all day and won only seven ends but one of them was

a very valuable five on the last, which helped get the club home. With a poor percentage, the team must keep winning to retain its spot in the top four. The Saturday 12-a-side team got no points from a bye but retained the fourth place on the ladder. The Midweek Division 2 side blew any chance it had of a top four position with its loss at Noble Park, 64-42. Skipper Phil Wynd with Gary Bondfield, Dennis Stephenson and Ray Naylor had the close one, losing 20-19. They had a close game and were level, 16 each on the 17th end, but lost a single, and the game on the final end. David Blake skipped for Donny Gibson, Bill Tippelt, and Bill Hite. They battled hard all day but were outplayed in a 20-13 loss. John Van Vugt with Simon Koning, Graeme Taylor and Gunter Baumbach lost a five on the second end, which set the pattern for the day. They won only eight ends and lost 24-10. They are now in seventh place on the ladder.
