More ways to play IT’S playtime in Clifton Springs. The City of Greater Geelong and the State Government officially unveiled the new and improved Jetty Road playground. City of Greater Geelong community life general manager Linda Quinn said the playground upgrade was a great result for the many young families in Clifton Springs. “It’s a fantastic new play space incorporating natural elements and exciting play equipment,” she said. “Children and families in Clifton Springs will love the new playground,” she said. Ms Quinn said the sub-re-

gional playground was suitable for children of all ages. “It features 15 separate play pieces including a double flying fox, basket swing, slides, climbing rope, wobble bridge and natural play elements. Ms Quinn said natural vegetation and sustainability were a focus of the playground. “Over 2000 plants and trees and extensive landscaping have transformed this space and provide a beautiful outlook and additional shade to the area,” she said. “All timber used in the playground has been recycled or repurposed, the mulch is from local tree trimmings, the lime-

stone rocks are sourced locally and the concrete paths are made from low carbon concrete and recycled materials. Ms Quinn said local residential growth meant the facility would also provide a valuable social hub for the local community. “The Clifton Springs growth area is taking off and this playground provides a great space for local families and children to come together and socialise,” she said. The upgrade was funded by the City of Greater Geelong ($180,000) and the State Government ($70,000).
