The couple from Stanthorpe have raised over $22,000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) and The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia by walking up to 20km per day over the last 12 months. As well as collecting donations from passers-by, the group also organised events at towns and cities along the way. “We wanted to raise awareness of breast and prostate cancer, and the importance of research, at every stop,” Christine said. “We invited local communities to get involved and to talk about
their own experiences too. “We hoped to play a role in promoting early detection by talking to people about our own experiences.“ The group set off from their home in Stanthorpe in May last year and have travelled across Queensland, the Northern Territory, Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria and NSW, due to return home on Monday, 2 May; Ian’s 66th birthday. “Our aim is to inspire those suffering from the effects of these debilitating cancers,” he said. “It has certainly been an adventure and a challenge but the best part was meeting so many support-
