Bourke Park in Pakenham is increasingly becoming dangerous for residents including older people and children who are exposed to daytime violence, drug deals and alcohol abuse. Most recently many residents were shocked to hear of a man who was allegedly beating by a gang of teen thugs who are reported to have hit their adult victim with their skateboards and scooters while he was on the ground. An anonymous witness likened the teen offenders as “a pack of wild dogs” as they set on the man despite police intervention on 19 January. The incident follows another incident late last year when a 14-year-old girl was charged with allegedly punching an 18-year-old victim in the face. The latest incident struck a chord with Cardinia shire councillor Kate Lempriere who has made a public plea in the News letters page for the State Government to fund CCTV cameras in the park to save the town she has described as being “overrun by gangs of anti-social youths of varying nationalities”. “Council requires State Government assistance to deliver and deliver quickly,” she said. “School commences this week and our children need to feel safe and their parents need to know they are. “For goodness sake, we are talking about the rail entrance to our town, to Pakenham, to our jobs, our businesses. “I do not want some innocent child, youth, senior citizen killed or permanently disabled. “As a councillor elected by Central Ward ratepayers I demand action now. These violent young offenders and others need to be got rid of permanently.” The News asked the State Government, which contributed $250,000 in joint funding to improve the safety of the park in 2014, if it would fund CCTV surveillance cameras at the site. A spokesperson said the proposal would be considered if a formal grant application was lodged. “Cardinia Shire Council did not apply for

they are on their way,” he explained, further highlighting benefits that CCTV footage would have on identifying and prosecuting offenders. A PAKENHAM woman is urging walkers to be cautious after she encountered a four-foot long black snake in Cardinia Lakes estate. Deborah Burn was walking near the quarry on the afternoon of Thursday 21 January when she spotted the reptile near the end of Windermere Boulevard. She said although the snake was not aggressive, it was startling to see it in such a heavily populated area and was moved to report the incident to the RSPCA and Wildlife Victoria, who told her to contact her local council. “When I finally got in contact with the council, they said they weren’t going to do anything about it,” she said.

“I thought if they could go out and look for it that would be brilliant, because it looked like a baby and there’s probably more around there.” She urged Cardinia Shire Council to consider installing signs in the area. “People should know that snakes are in the area and just be on the lookout and be aware.” However, council said this week that snakes, which were protected under the Wildlife Act 1975, could often be seen basking in the sun, but should be left unprovoked. Operations manager Charles Taveira explained that council staff will only respond to situations which endanger the public. “Council receives reports of snakes periodically and residents are provided contact

details for a number of registered snake handlers,” he said. “Council can only take action on councilmanaged land if there is an immediate public health risk. We may engage the services of a registered snake handler on these rare occasions.” He added that it would be impractical to install signs, warning the public about the risk of snakes. “Council do not install signs warning residents and visitors about the likelihood of snakes,” he said. “As snakes are native animals, they can move around regularly, and it is therefore difficult to identify an area where snakes are commonly found.”

A PAKENHAM primary school was targeted in a second wave of bomb threats this week, as part of a hoax affecting schools around the world. St Patrick’s Primary School activated evacuation procedures on the afternoon of Tuesday 2 February, after a threatening call was received. Pakenham Sergeant Darren Shaw told the Pakenham News that the threat was delivered through an automated message in a phone call answered by a staff member at 12.05pm. The message detailed that a bomb located on the school premises would be detonated in 30 minutes. Staff immediately activated evacuation procedures, and children were ushered across Princes Highway onto the oval of Pakenham Secondary College. Police blocked all entrances to the school while a total of eight units conducted a search. Feverish parents were spotted running from their cars to pick up children from the evacuation zone, while others were seen flagging down police, concerned with traffic blockages along the highway. Donna Singh, a mum of two students in Prep and Year 2, said she was in a rush to pick up her kids after learning the news of a threat.

“I was pretty scared at first. And then I had to try and find a car park and get over to them as quick as possible,” she explained. “Several parents have been really upset. They’ve driven past and seen what’s happening or are getting alerts on Facebook when they are at work, or outside the area.” Casey Merrigan, another parent of two students, praised the actions of staff in keeping the students calm. “As a parent of two of the kids from St Pat’s - I have to say what an incredible job St Pat’s staff and the police did in managing to keep the students calm and maintaining procedures to keep all of our kids comfortable and safe,” she commented on Facebook. The school was eventually given the all-clear and returned to their usual school day. Nearby Kooweerup Primary School was also evacuated on Tuesday due to a similar threat, and Berwick Chase and Berwick Lodge primary schools activated emergency procedures following phone calls last Friday 29 January. A number of other schools in the wider Melbourne area, interstate and internationally were reported to have received similar phone calls, but a Victoria Police spokesperson said last week that threats were being treated as “a hoax” and were not being treated as “terrorism related.”

THE truth is out there - and maybe it’s in Narre Warren. This week the alleged 1993 sighting of a UFO in a Narre Warren paddock and a subsequent alien abduction was beamed back into the public spotlight when the incident was referenced in the rebooted XFiles TV show. The case of Kelly Cahill, who claimed that in August 1993 she was abducted by aliens while driving home along Belgrave-Hallam Road, is arguably considered “one of the most important UFO cases in the world”. CANNONS Creek beach goers who need to ‘spend a penny’ may be in luck when the warm weather rolls around next summer. But it will take a few pennies and signatures of approval to get this loo up and running. Councillor Geoff Ablett was recently alerted to the unhygienic problem, where busting visitors to The Bluff, near the Cannons Creek jetty, have been relieving themselves in scrub land. “The closest toilet is quite some distance from where people are going on the shore and it’s an inconvenience and a long walk,” Cr Ablett said. “There’s more people living there and they’ve discovered a sandy beach, which is shallow for kids and a nice spot for a picnic but there’s no toilet nearby, if there was one it would be ideal.” A member of the Cannons Creek Foreshore Committee of Management (CCFCM), who wishes to go unnamed, said the nearest toilet was about 400 metres away from the popular spot. “Cannons Creek has only one public toilet, attached to the Community Place and you must get the key from the General Store across the road to open it,” they said. “This beach is the only one for many kilometres around Lang Lang to beyond Hastings.” Delighted at the growth of the area, Cr Ablett wants to see

Western Port,” they said. Adding to that, Cannons Creek is an area under RAMSAR conservation, and people fish from the jetty and beach all year round. The issue was raised as urgent business by Cr Ablett at a Casey Council meeting on Tuesday 19 January and council resolved to seek State and/ or Federal Government funding to build the toilet if council officers see the need for a toilet. And if government funding is refused, the Casey Council will review the costs in its budget deliberations.

I WRITE to refute the recurring statements made by Mr Girton and Mr Kotsiras in their letter (Unwanted Bunjil, Berwick and Cranbourne News, 28 January). These letters are becoming tiresome. Not only is the same unfounded argument being repeated like a broken record but this couple continue to peddle mistruths about the Bunjil Place project. It is imperative to correct the author; Mr Girton was transparently provided with an extract from council’s independent survey report demonstrating public support for the project. Council is being attacked by a minority group of only two people for conducting this survey, which received more than 500 responses, making outrageous claims about the project on behalf of the same community. This is a contradiction. As repetition seems to be the trend, I’d like to again share that: 1. The $25.5m allocated in this year’s budget for the project is part of the $125m for the project and is fully funded in council’s Budget and Strategic Resource Plan. 2. Almost 50 per cent of Casey’s population is made up of students aged under 18 and their families, who are crying out for quality arts and performing venues close to home. Just ask any school principal, music teacher or local arts organisation (many of whom have written to express their support for the project). 3. The project is a major boost for the local economy, creating jobs and local procurement opportunities, see council’s construction update advertisement on page five in this edition of the News to find out how local manufacturers and suppliers can get involved. 4. Bunjil Place operational costs are factored into council’s four year Strategic Resource Plan. It’s a shame the authors continue to focus their efforts on unfairly attacking Bunjil Place instead of positively advocating for real issues for the ratepayers they claim to represent. Wonderful opportunity WE refer to the letter Unwanted Bunjil in the News of 28 January and would seek to offer our thoughts on the project which we see as a wonderful opportunity for Casey to become a leader in the arts in the south-eastern Melbourne region. The basis of the letter seems to be that Casey does not need any additional council offices or additional library facilities, has not sought sufficient public input from residents, has not disclosed how it intends paying the cost of the project and that there is an intention to increase rates to fund the facility. Figures don’t add up DUNSTAN Girton and Louis Kotsiras (Unwanted Bunjil, News, 28 January) have placed the issue of Bunjil Place into perspective. Ratepayers are entitled to see the evidence for the Bunjil Place project. There is a lack of transparency and evidence behind the Bunjil Place project. Casey council claims the benefits from this project’s development are the creation of 1200 jobs. I have requested to see the modelling for this but council has refused to reply and show me evidence to substantiate a claim which I suspect has been greatly exaggerated. Violent gangs must be removed I have a small voice but a great roar. As a senior resident who catches the train I feel appalled and scared for our residents, school children and workers to read the contents of Pain in the Park by Aneeka Simonis, Gazette 27 January. As a long serving councillor and former mayor I am frustrated and furious that my town Pakenham is being overrun by gangs of “anti-social youths” of varying nationalities. There are drug dealings, alcohol abuse and bashings at midday. Enough is enough! As a councillor I can tell you how hard we all worked to achieve a good outcome and transformation of Bourke Park opposite Pakenham rail station. If it takes more state funding to install

CCTV installation, then pollies should provide it, protect our citizens and the people who vote for you. It is nice for all to visit on Australia Day but we don’t need appearances, we need action! Council can’t be expected to provide rates at CPI and then find money to outlay huge amounts for this necessary installation. Council requires State Government assistance to deliver and deliver quickly. The police can’t be criticised, they are doing their best. Our by-laws officers are few on the ground and overworked with 1200 square kilometres and 30 townships to cover. I do not want some innocent child, youth, senior citizen killed or permanently disabled. As a councillor elected by Central Ward ratepayers I demand action now. These violent young offenders and others need to be got rid of permanently. If this needs to be aired on TV or one of the dailies, so be it. I am tired of so called “political correctness”. Meetings by police and politicians and local government discussing the problem is just air in the wind. Immediate action is required. School commences this week and our children need to feel safe and their parents need to know they are. For goodness sake, we are talking about the rail entrance to our town, to Pakenham, to our jobs, our businesses. I will not let Pakenham be placed on the back burner because it is the “old town” and the government, state, federal and local, are focussed on infrastructure delivery for the new kid on the block ‘Officer’. I love Pakenham, I chose to live here, my business is in the town. I care about the people and the community we belong to. I wanted to make a difference back in 2003 and I hang my head in shame if, being in my elected position in 2016, I don’t attempt to do something to protect the people old and new who I care about. Politically they can love or hate me for speaking out but I want action and I want it long before any election promises and the darkness of winter in that area. Day of dedication AS A humble citizen I wish to extend my congratulations to Colin Booth and all local CFA firefighters (On A Firey Path, News, 28 January). It’s refreshing to see accolades being given to fair dinkum people serving our community rather than the usual doling out of awards to already highly decorated and renumerated actors, sportspeople and alike. I think Victorians need to do more to honour those who serve and volunteer - perhaps we should have a day to celebrate them rather than celebrating labour, Queen’s birthdays or Grand Final eve. It’s None Of Our Business But ... 25 January it was revealed that Casey counsellor Geoff Ablett has been spending his own loot on the protest. A resident spokesperson told the audience of more than 300 to please donate any money on their way out because Cr Ablett has spent up to $500 on flyers. When asked about the hefty donation to the residents’ cause, Cr Ablett said, laughing: “Everyone has been putting in at some point through this and it’s something I’m really passionate about - and the flyers had to be paid for.”

The council has invited public feedback on a number of occasions and engaged an independent research firm to review the public response to the feedback requests and conduct a telephone survey to determine the level of community support. RECENTLY one of our Berwick News journalists had an interesting foray into Greater Dandenong politics, filling in as a reporter at the Dandenong council meeting. The sandwiches were so impressive that one of the Dandenong councillors even came over to the media table to see if there were any that tickled her fancy. WHERE was all the mad soccer followers? A recent Casey Association Football Reference Advisory Committee meeting had to be cancelled due to a poor turnout. Only two Casey soccer clubs out of the

10 involved rocked up to the early December gathering so the next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 17 February. THE City of Casey stood for a minute’s silence at Tuesday’s council meeting in honour of former mayor of Berwick John Byron who recently passed in his sleep. Mr Byron served as a City of Berwick councillor, prior to the amalgamation, for 11 years. Councillor Mick Morland spoke about his generous spirit and joked over his hiring skills, as it was Mr Byron who employed current Casey CEO, Mike Tyler. Mr Byron served as mayor in 1984 and is much remembered for his support of voluntary groups. Mr Byron was also the president of the Webb Street Opp Shop in Narre Warren. IT’S not every day that a news photographer lives and breathes the topic he’s snapping but on Wednesday that happened to one of our Star News colleagues - he got caught short in Cannons Creek without a dunny in sight! Twins peak LYNBROOK Primary School will be seeing doubles for years to come as this year’s wave of preps break a school record. All dressed up in pristine navy and orange uniforms, four sets of twins started prep at the school on Thursday 28 January. A record breaking number, the eight boys and girls will be a part of the 147 preps which make up eight prep classes to

start at the school. Prep co-ordinator Xuan Lee said they were the largest number of twins the school has ever had in one year level. “We’ve only had one or two sets in a year level at the most so it’s record breaking for the school,” Ms Lee said. An excited Ms Lee said the school makes special arrangements for its twins. “We respect the parent’s choices but we do suggest split-

ting up twins in neighbouring classrooms to allow them to develop their own personalities,” she said. Five-year-old sisters Sneha and Nesha have been split up but they were looking forward to meeting up at recess. And after just 20 minutes Nesha had already made her mind up about her new prep teacher. “My teacher is a silly sausage,” she said.

All set for the jungle WINDERMERE is calling for support as its supporters prepare to embark on a fund-raising trek through the Sumatran jungle later this year. Eight months before people representing the Narre Warren organisation set out on the Trek to Transform Lives – which will run from 7 to 16 October – they have started fundraising to reach their $3000 target. And they are calling for anyone out there to sign up for the life-changing adventure or to help their cause by supporting those who do. It’s a cause for people like Carla, who with the help of Windermere Child and Family Services was able to save herself and her eight-year-old son from an abusive relationship. “He beat me with sledgehammer and left me to die on the kitchen floor in front of my eight year old son,” she said. But even when she got out, more challenges lay ahead. Carla was forced to sell her home and if it weren’t for Windermere, she doesn’t know what would have happened.

Fortunately, the organisation was able to give Carla and her son access to temporary housing. “There are many Australians out there suffering from neglect, abuse and the kinds of hardship that life sometimes throws at us,” Windermere CEO Lynette Buoy said. “At Windermere, we aim to transform the lives of those who need it most but we need help. “We’re thrilled to launch our Sumatran Trek to Transform Lives because while trekking through jungle won’t necessarily be easy, it is a small taste of the hardships that face the majority of people that we see at Windermere.” With every kilometre completed on the trek, Dr Buoy said, participants will be helping to change lives. “And we’ll be there to support them along the way because their challenge is our challenge,” she said. It’s more than a run in the park By KATHRYN BERMINGHAM PAKENHAM runners in their dozens have embraced the worldwide Parkrun movement. Every Saturday morning, an open invitation is extended for walkers and runners of all abilities to participate in a free fivekilometre timed event. Parkrun was founded in 2004 but has gained global popularity in the last few years. The event is put on entirely by volunteers and the local Pakenham course is plotted along Toomuc Creek. To participate, runners reg-

ister online and are assigned a barcode, which is then used to time their run. Pakenham Parkrun event director Michelle Peters said all were welcome and runners needed to bring only their barcode and a water bottle. “Our Parkrun ranges from participants as young as four, though we do have some in prams, and as old as 78 to date, however there is no age limit as long as doctor clearance is sought and given for our older participants.” She said the event is timed

so that participants can track their own progress and measure results, rather than compete against each other. “It’s about improving your own health,” she said. “We all encourage each other and people who finish first often go back and run again with the later finishers. It’s a really friendly atmosphere.” On average, around 70-80 people participant in Parkrun each week, however recent runs have seen up to 112 people take part.

Following the event, participants head to the cafe at Pakenham Bunnings to catch up over a coffee and snack. “Bunnings agreed to allow us to meet at their cafe for our postrun coffees,” Michelle said. “It is convenient for us as they have the cafe area with toilets and a play area for the kids. Survivor stepping up This is the bike police are searching for.

By GEORGIA WESTGARTH CHEMOTHERAPY is a regular in Sandi Bonavita’s life and has been for the past 18 years as she’s fought and beat cancer five times. But the Narre Warren mum is living what she calls a great life, coming off the back of a death sentence. “I’ve had a year of getting better every day and I honestly feel wonderful, I haven’t felt this good in years,” she said, despite living with a miniscule cancerous tumour in her arm pit. “There have been recent advancements in chemotherapy pills and the drug has been doing its job.” Sandi, 62, is a well-seasoned cancer survivor and has developed a huge appreciation for the work and research done by the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation. And 2016 marks the second year that Sandi will walk in a sea of blue and pink Melbournians, also touched by cancer, in the Weekend to End Women’s Cancers. Sandi and her team of fundraisers called Mimi’s Gang will embark on the two day event in April and hope to raise more than last year’s figure of $23,000. “I’ve more than doubled my team members this year,” she said of what becomes a very emotional weekend away. “They set up around 2000 tents for walkers and it’s a beautiful event, people even put up blue and pink ribbons on their fences to show support as we walk past.” Participants can choose to walk either 60 or 30 kilometres and the walk is expected to pass the Peter MacCallum Cancer centre in East Melbourne. “Nurses walk alongside you and last year I walked with the CEO of Peter Mac,” Sandi said. But it’s the cancer survivors that bring a tear to Sandi’s eye. “During the opening and closing ceremonies they seat all the survivors in one

Bright sparks bask in glory By KATHRYN BERMINGHAM LOCAL students have shone in the 2015 Season of Excellence in the areas of technology, art and dance. Five Beaconhills College students received awards for their 2015 work, with a number of others shortlisted and performing arts auditions still underway. Season of Excellence is an annual celebration of the best student work in Victoria, covering the subjects of technology, design, multimedia, cinematic, visual and performing arts subjects. It is presented by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority. Students from the Beaconhills Pakenham Campus who received awards were Kristy Amos for portraiture, Nick Karman for his floorball machine (Top Designs), Tim Sandell for his house alarm (Top Designs) and Alycia Siomos for her dance performance (Top Class). At the Berwick Campus, Alicia Simons also earned an award for her outstanding series of photographs. Kristy Amos painted a representation of the ageing process, entitled ‘Skin Deep.’ She paid tribute to art teacher Maria Tsiagalos for her help throughout the year. “Ms Tsiagalos was so dedicated – she was always happy to stay after class or lunchtimes to help me,” Kristy said.

Taking the reins of his life back By LACHLAN MOORHEAD AFTER his back surgery, Rick Beeby knew he’d get better. But for those children and adults living with a disability, the 69-year-old knew theirs was a burden they would be carrying for the rest of their lives. This moment of understanding led Rick to Riding for the Disabled (RDA) at Doveton’s Myuna Farm, where he has volunteered for more than a decade. It’s his commitment to RDA that saw Rick, the Doveton committee’s vice-president, awarded the Casey Senior Citizen of Year Award on Australia Day this month. “I used to drive trucks and I had some surgery done on my back which meant I had to give truck driving away, and I had to re-think what I was going to do for the rest of my life,” he said. “I think it was the fact that after surgery I was going to get better whereas a lot of people don’t, they have that disability and that’s it.” Rick’s involvement with the RDA has seen him cover every aspect of the program, including running coaching sessions for riders with disabilities, accompanying riders to competitions, co-ordinating volunteers, and collecting horse feed and repairing fences. Rick has helped enrich the lives of many kids, including a 10-year-old boy who was unable to walk until he joined RDA. “He’s a young fella who was not able to sit up straight because of a lack of core strength,” Rick said. “But he started riding and now he can weight bear and now he can walk. “At the start he couldn’t even sit up straight.” While his involvement with RDA has seen Rick immerse himself in

Rick Beeby with Gerry, one of the Riding for the Disabled horses. 149540 studying about the benefits of therapeutic riding, his passion for horses goes way back. “I sort of grew up in an area where there was a lot of horses, in Hornsby, New South Wales,” he said. “Then later on I worked as a jackaroo and a station-hand mustering and droving. “Then my oldest daughter became interested in horses. At one stage I had

three children doing pony club.” Rick’s daughters, Crystal and Mim, and his wife, Robyn, were at the Council Chambers last Tuesday night to watch their dad and husband receive the Australia Day award, an honour he didn’t expect to win but one he was thrilled with. “It’s always something I’ve loved doing - combining my love of horses with helping people who have disabilities,” Rick said.

Rock radio By GEORGIA WESTGARTH IT’S the radio show putting Casey on the map in Tamworth and it’s got just the right amount of country glitz and glamour to be broadcast around the world. ‘Casey Radio Rocks Tamworth’, hosted by Bob Halsall and local councillors Wayne Smith and Louise Berkelmans, has become a hit at Tamworth Country Music Festival in the past three years. Broadcasting insightful interviews about anything but country music from a conference room in Tamworth, Cr Smith said, the outof-towners are becoming big names themselves. “We’re getting a reputation, we have high profile country musicians asking us if they can come on our show,” he said. “It’s pretty special - they give us a one-on-one concert.” The trio broadcast three hours of music and interviews over the fiveday festival from Friday 15 to Sunday 24 January. “We spoke to 52 acts for 15

minutes each and some of those included big names like Troy CassarDaley, Adam Brand, Adam Harvey and Lyn Bowtell,” Cr Smith said, along with at least six Casey musicians lucky enough to play alongside country music greats. And having gotten to know the stars over the years, Cr Smith said, the interviews are casual and fun. “In our first year we knew nothing about the festival or country music so we’d chat to them about them - Louise, Bob and I are not country music fans,” he said, laughing. “But the performers loved talking to us because of that and Troy Cassar-Daley said it was the best interview he’d done in Tamworth because we wanted to hear about his family and kids.” Casey Radio is the only out-oftown station to broadcast from the event. “It’s hard work but we love it hundreds of thousands of people go up for the festival, and Casey is definitely on the map in Tamworth,” he said.

IT was raining rainbows of fun at Casey’s Colour Run. All ages took on the vibrant event at Akoonah Park in Berwick, on Saturday 30 January, where they could embrace a challenge of 5km or 2.5km. Teams of joggers took on the multicolour race, organised by the City of Casey’s youth volunteer committees. As bodies dressed in white got splattered with pink, red, green, blue and yellow powder, other youths had the chance to access information from the Casey 360 Mobile Youth Information Centre.

Aiming for next level By JARROD POTTER INSPIRATION to take his football to the next level and pride in his religious heritage are the great insights Musa Amin will take from his time with Bachar Houli. Amin, 18, from Narre Warren South, was one of four footballers to best embody the Bachar Houli Academy’s Wall of Success values. After making a great impact at Houli’s AFL Academy Camp - a six-day program for 35 up-and-coming Muslim footballers held last year - Amin was voted by his peers to receive a Bachar Houli Leadership Medal. The players voted for a person they thought met the academy’s criteria - including trust, voice, ability and pride among other necessary attributes - which Amin felt extremely privileged to receive. “That was an honour to get it - there were about 30 other blokes wanting that medal, but I got it in the end which was great,” Amin said. “I saw a website on the internet with Bachar Houli and his mission to come to his program and see if I could get an opportunity there, and I did. “I did it for the past two years which was really good - I took away a lot off Bachar. “What to do, how to position myself and what to do and how to improve on - and I’m

always asking questions as well.” It wasn’t just about footwork and strategy, as the Richmond defender Houli set up the camp to encourage the footballers to engage in leadership roles and learn more about their religious and cultural background. It’s been a long road through junior football for Amin - starting with North Dandenong before heading to Endeavour Hills and finally ending up at Noble Park. He’s trying to make inroads towards an EFL senior debut this season with the Bulls after he was encouraged by Houli to make the most of his talents. There’s also the question of getting into the VFL, which Amin hopes to answer in 2017 after another year working on his game. “Just talking to him (Houli) whenever I can - he told me to carry on with my running and my weights to get fit for the season,” Amin said. “He’s encouraged me to try for VFL, which wasn’t a good go for me this year, so I’m playing Noble under-19s and can hopefully get a senior gig sometime this year. “Hopefully, play round one - that’s my ambition - and I want to try and get into the VFL next year.” Amin wanted to thank Houli, former coach Dean Rice, brother Adam Amin and Rick Millman for their support.

THERE are 70 senior teams spread throughout the West Gippsland Cricket Association but it’s the battle between three in the Premier Division that is stealing the late-season spotlight. Merinda Park, Kooweerup and Tooradin are three quality sides -Koowee has won the last two premierships- but one is going to miss out on challenging ladder-leaders Pakenham and Cardinia for a crack at this year’s title.
