Following recent community surveys, Council is now seeking further comment on improvement opportunities for local train station infrastructure. You are invited to review the survey findings and make a written submission which can be heard by a submissions review panel. Following the panel hearing early next year, the panel will report back to Council. Information from the survey and submissions will inform future Council planning for local infrastructure around existing and new train stations, and be used to advocate to State and Federal Government for funding and improvements where required. The City is currently reviewing and updating its’ Greenhouse Strategy, which outlines the City’s response to corporate and community greenhouse gas emissions. To help inform the review of the strategy, we would like to hear your views on climate change mitigation and the actions that Council could take to minimise the greenhouse gas emissions of our municipality. AMENDMENT C259 The Minister for Planning has approved Amendment C259 to the Greater Geelong Planning Scheme. The Amendment comes into operation on 27 November 2014. The Amendment facilitates the use and development of the Horseshoe Bend Precinct (HSBP) within the Armstrong Creek Urban Growth Area by: • amending the mapping of Environmental Significance Overlay Schedule 1 as it applies to land within the HSBP; • amending the mapping of Vegetation Protection Overlay Schedule 1 as it applies to land within the HSBP; • amending the mapping of Floodway Overlay as it applies to land within the HSBP; • amending the mapping of Land Subject to Inundation Overlay as it applies to land within the HSBP; • applying the Public Acquisition Overlay 3 to various sites within the HSBP; • inserting Schedule 4 to the Urban Growth Zone into the planning scheme and applying it to land within the HSBP; • inserting Schedule 5 to the Development Contributions Plan Overlay into the planning scheme and applying it to land within the HSBP; • amending the Schedule to the Commercial 1 Zone to specify a maximum combined leasable floor area for shop (other than restricted retail premises) for the North East Neighbourhood Activity Centre, Southern Local Activity Centre and Western Local Activity Centre; • amending the Schedule to Clause 52.16 to include the Armstrong Creek Horseshoe Bend Native Vegetation Precinct Plan; • amending the Schedule to Clause 66.04 to include new referral requirements; and • amending the Schedule to Clause 81.01 to incorporate the Armstrong Creek Horseshoe Bend Precinct Structure Plan, Armstrong Creek Horseshoe Bend Native Vegetation Precinct Plan and Armstrong Creek Horseshoe Bend Development Contributions Plan. The Simonds Stadium High Performance Centre (gym) Scholarship is designed to enable individual athletes to train in an elite strength and conditioning environment to assist in meeting their full sporting potential. The scholarship period is for 12 months from January to December 2015. To apply for a Scholarship Application Pack, athletes must fulfil eligibility criteria: • Athletes must be Australian Citizens • Athletes must reside in the Barwon Region • Athletes must compete and perform as an Australian Citizen at international or national level • Athletes must be over 16 years of age • Have their own coach, to set a program. PORTARLINGTON ROTUNDA FUTURE MANAGEMENT The City is seeking registrations for Expressions of Interest for the management of the Portarlington Rotunda at 57 Newcomb Street, Portarlington. The Portarlington Rotunda is an important community facility with cultural and historic significance. Located within easy walking distance to the Portarlington Foreshore, shopping and service areas, the Rotunda provides a unique location and opportunity for community activity.
