THREE Hillcrest Christian College students needed hospital treatment following a school bus crash on Monday. Casey Highway Patrol Senior Constable Leigh Royal said the bus left Soldiers Road, Clyde North, and hit a tree about 4pm. The tree fell across the road, which was closed to traffic for several hours. Sen Const Royal said 18 students and the driver were on board when the accident took place and investigations were ongoing, but did not expect any charges to eventuate. “It was an accident more than anything else,” he said. An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said paramedics transported a teenage boy and two teenage girls to Dandenong Hospital with bruising. Executive principal Dr Daniel Pampuch said the college nurse initially treated students who received minor injuries. “These students were further assessed by paramedics who arrived on the scene shortly afterwards,” he said. “We are not aware of any serious injuries - mainly minor cuts and abrasions. “Three students were transported by ambulance to the hospital for further assessment and observation.” Dr Pampuch said a large number of staff and parents were on hand to help with blankets, warm drinks and a reassuring word. “All students were collected by their parents on the day and are doing well,” he said. - Casey Neill
