A MAJOR rain event unfolded across southern Queensland and northern NSW bringing valuable rain to the Granite Belt late last week. Storm chaser and local weather expert Terry West said 86mm fell on Warwick on Thursday with some areas receiving upwards of 130mm. “It is what the country needed and I think there would be some happy farmers out there this week,” he said. Further widespread rain developed on Sunday. Some area’s north of Warwick experienced flash flooding and some powerlines were down towards Pittsworth. A total of 18.8mm was recorded in Warwick and other areas received well over 50mm. Picture: TERRY WEST
