Rev. Angela Zimmerman

Angela brings both knowledge and understanding from years of experience in ministry as well as the enthusiasm and passion of a fresh expression of her call. Her background of music ministry has equipped her well for the various duties of being a pastor.

She helped lead her church during the twin difficulties of a senior pastoral vacancy and the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. During this most stressful time, the church was able to maintain its giving and provided a vibrant and unique online worship experience.

Angela is a preacher who seeks to connect biblical truths to daily living. She is a collaborative leader, working well with committees and the ongoing structure of the church. She is an empathic pastoral care giver who wishes to accompany parishioners to the mountains and through the valleys of their lives.

Angela is a lifelong learner, always ready to learn more and apply new knowledge in her pastoral leadership.

Angela has been presented with two awards for Excellence in Preaching. The Addie Davis Award, A national award presented by Baptist Women in Ministry and the Philip Wendell Crannell Award by Central Baptist Theological Seminary.

Angela resides in Danville, VA. She is married to Rev. Steve Zimmerman and has twin daughters, Karen and Kimberly. Steve is the founding partner of the Barnabas Partnership, assisting churches in south central Virginia. He is currently serving as Interim Pastor of Greenpond Baptist Church in Chatham, Va. Their daughter Karen serves as a pastor of a protestant church in a Northern Africa through CBF. Kimberly, their other daughter, teaches orchestra to middle school students in North Carolina.

Angela is eager to join with Starling Avenue Church in sharing God’s great love to people in the church, the community, and beyond.
