WELCOME Dear Friends, Good evening and welcome to Auction Gala 2017, There’s No Place Like Home! Most of us can recall the iconic ending of The Wizard of Oz when Dorothy closes her eyes, clicks her ruby slippers together and repeats that memorable phrase. When she opens her eyes, Dorothy is back in Kansas with a new understanding of the meaning and value of home and family.

This became the catalyst in planning for tonight, our biggest event of the year. We recognize and greatly appreciate the gifts of time, talent and treasure that have been given to our school over the years by parents and community volunteers and as a faculty and staff we wanted this year's event to be a thank you for that and more. We hope you enjoy being with us at home for an evening of fun, fellowship, great food, entertainment and fundraising for St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School.

Tonight we are pleased to honor Jill and Matt Frazier with our Founder's Award and Donoho's Jewellers with our Community Partner Award. We thank them for their dedication and commitment to our school and Catholic education through the years. Their generous support and involvement coupled with that of all of our benefactors have made a significant difference for our students, faculty and staff. Possibilities have become realities as we strive for continuous improvement in all areas. We see the results continually with numerous accomplishments and achievements added each and every year. With continued dedication and support from parents, the parish and local community, we are confident that the best is yet to come!

Dorothy's words, "There's no place like home," underline a truism that strikes a chord in many hearts. Thank you for joining us at home for this night of celebration! Your support helps our school to fulfill its mission today and you become part of the future of Catholic education for all of the families to come who will call this place home. May God continue to bless all of us abundantly as we continue the work of Jesus here on earth and in our school community.

Jill and Matt Frazier Founding Family Our school is happy to honor a founding family as this year’s recipient of the St. Anthony of Padua Founders Award. Jill and Matt Frazier have made a significant impact to our school community throughout the last 16 years. They have given generously of their time, talent and treasure in many ways from onand off-campus volunteering to consistent support of our fundraising efforts. They were also instrumental in the development and growth of our athletic program, including coaching award-winning teams. All four of their daughters have completed their elementary education at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School, and we are sad to see their youngest graduate this year. They have always been true ambassadors of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School, and we are thankful for their continued support.

PRE-K3 CLASS PROJECT: Many Hands, Many Blessings Rosary

The little hands of Pre-K3 AM and PM classes were busy at work painting the beads used to create this over-sized rosary.

Custom framed and ready for display in your home, this is sure to bring many blessing for years to come. To document their journey a photo book is also included to show these little hands at work.

PRE-K4 CLASS PROJECT: Get Your Hands On A Good Book

Children’s Bookshelf and Children’s Library of beloved books sure to entertain young readers and the young at heart.

KINDERGARTEN CLASS PROJECT: Silhouette Quilt

The quilt tradition continues to memorialize the kindergarten class at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School. This year, we wanted to think outside the usual crafts and do something unique with our children. What is more unique than each individual's silhouette? This project was a labor of love. Each child's uniqueness and beauty shows through onto the fabric.

Every hair and sweet little nose tell a story about a beautiful child of God.

1ST GRADE CLASS PROJECT: Colors of Childhood

The 1st Graders turned a window into a beautiful piece of art by hand painting the mosaic shapes to look like colorful stained glass. "You are here to be light, bringing out God's colors in the world" Matthew 5:14

CLASS PROJECTS (BIG BOARD) 2ND GRADE CLASS PROJECT: Crawfish Table

Perfect for backyard seafood and crawfish boils, this table provides a casual serving space when entertaining. It is made to sit on a trash can, which also will be part of the table. It has two paper towel holders and 4 cup holders, and 2nd graders customdesigned the adorable crawfish decorations.

3RD GRADE CLASS PROJECT: Photo Book

Our 3rd Grade class has had a fabulous year, as documented in our 3rd Grade Photo Book. This book will chronicle the various fun and educational activities that our children have participated in throughout the year, including Saints Day, Science Day, and the Field Trip. It also includes pictures from their daily activities that we don't always get to see such as lunch, playground, and auxiliaries.

We have captured many special moments from Lemonade, as well as Go Texan Day, STREAM, and more. All of these precious memories can be yours in your very own photo book!

4TH GRADE CLASS PROJECT: Garden of Eden

Enhance your garden and keep your potting and gardening supplies organized with this beautiful solid wood potting bench. This outdoor garden potting table comes in a natural finish. Shelves provide plenty of space to store potting soil, pots, hand tools, watering cans and more. You’ll have no problem keeping a clear and clean planting station with this outdoor garden bench. This bench is practical and stylish enough to transition to an entertainment station and can be used to hold snacks and beverages while entertaining!

5TH GRADE CLASS PROJECT: Decorative Wall Art

This 25X33 inch wooden wall art has the spiritual quote, “May this home be firmly built upon faith held humbly together by hope and ever lit by the light of God’s love”. The center is a cross with decorative stones with handwritten thoughts from each 5th grader.

These handwritten words illuminate all the things that our children are thankful that God has provided for them. This would make a wonderful addition to any home as a reminder of the many blessings in our lives.

There's no place like your own home to have fun with this hand painted corn hole set and smoker basket. The stars on the Stars and Stripes corn hole set were created using the 7th graders hands. The smoker comes complete with all the coal and chips and other accessories needed for an evening of backyard fun!

8TH GRADE CLASS PROJECT: Rediscover Galveston

Rediscover Galveston for 5 days in this brand new Southhampton style beach front home in Jamaica Beach.

Everyone stands.

Auctioneer asks participants to choose whether they wish to be “heads” (place hands on their head) or “tails” (place hand on rear end).

The auctioneer tosses the coin, and the result announced (“Heads” or “Tails”).

"Winners" remain standing. All those who did not "win" sit down.

Game continues until we have one “WINNER!”

RAISE THE PADDLE FOR TECHNOLOGY UPGRADES!

DNN or Dolphin News Network is one of our primary ways for communicating with classrooms. The equipment used for producing a weekly program is in desperate need of an upgrade.

New equipment purchased through Raise the Paddle will allow us to stream not only weekly DNN broadcasts online, but also provide new opportunities to stream live and prerecorded school events such as Christmas programs, concerts, theatre productions, and other school events for family and friends near and far to enjoy!

As you can imagine, the cost of these improvements add up quickly. That’s where we need your help! Please raise your paddle so that we can provide our students with the best technology tools possible!
