GRATITUDE REPORT 2018-2019

FROM OUR PASTOR, PRINCIPAL, & SCHOOL ADVISORY COMMITTEE Thanks be to God for a tremendous school year! We are pleased to present the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School Gratitude Report, an account of the generosity bestowed on us during the 2018–2019 school year. Throughout the school year, we have been collecting anecdotal stories from our families about the beautiful impact that our school has had on them. We’d like to share one with you that truly highlights the mission of St. Anthony: “My husband & I were sitting this morning in the church and, as one of our favorite communion songs was quieting down, we looked at each other and said at the same time, ‘We are blessed.’ Surrounded by our extended St. Anthony’s family and seeing our children wrapped up in warm love of God, their teachers, Father Tom, you - their beloved principal, their peers and many parents and grandparents, our hearts are overfilled with gratitude and love. The journey that took our son took from a struggling reader last fall to this day is full of patience, loving guidance from his teachers, support from St. Anthony’s staff and God’s Love. It is a journey full of miracles that humble our hearts. We are so happy, grateful and proud to be part of St. Anthony’s family.”

We have been blessed with courageous founders, generous benefactors, energetic and gifted teachers, attentive and hardworking students, and supportive parents, all of whom have been willing to make numerous sacrifices in order to further the cause of Catholic education for our students.

Our school witnessed many notable changes over the 2018-2019 school year. Our new car line and arrival and dismissal changes were an adjustment, but our community handled it with grace. Paduan Points became a mandatory program to encourage volunteerism within our school community and assisted us with generating additional revenue for our students and programs. Additionally, we established a new Chess Club and Rosary Group for our students to enhance our extracurriculars. We are excited to feature more highlights throughout this report.

Thanks to generous support of the Fund for St. Anthony, the Mardi Gras Ball, and other advancement programs and our school’s ongoing focus on moderating operating expenses, we were able to maintain a balanced budget in 2018-2019. While our surplus was minimal, we were able to complete upgrades to technology, our campus facilities and contribute to our school endowment.

Your dedicated support is a blessing to all of us as we work to nurture the souls and enrich the minds of our children. Our mission to continue this tradition of educating responsible, faith-filled young people is possible because of your willingness to invest in our future. MARIAN GARDEN REFURBISHMENT St. Anthony Alumnus, Jimmy Demczak, led his Eagle Scout Project crew to improve our Marian Garden. New brick pavers were added and we now have a beautiful space for prayer and honoring Our Blessed Mother.

WATER FOUNTAIN UPGRADES Thanks to funds raised through Steps for Students we were able to upgrade our water fountains to add bottle fillers--increasing sustainability one refill at a time.

QUIZ BOWL CHAMPS! Our Quiz Bowl team, under the guidance of Mrs. Sturgeon & Mrs. O'Connor, took first place at the St. Pius X Middle School Academic Rally!

PERFECT ACT SCORE St. Anthony Alumnus, Ignacio Gonzalez, earned a perfect score on the ACT college entrance exam! We are so proud of his success!

DOLPHIN DONOR DAY Our 3rd Annual Dolphin Donor Day raised $101,000 in support for our school thanks to Matching Gifts from Faculty & Staff, and Brady, Brumfield, Daigle, Fedele, Girotto, Lease, Little, Miller, and anonymous families!

NAVIGATING OUR DIGITAL WORLD We were fortunate to offer two presentations; Deep Parenting in a Digital World by Mike Gormley and a viewing of SCREENAGERS, both aimed at helping our community learn how to navigate increased technology in students' lives.

FUND FOR ST. ANTHONY The Fund for St. Anthony is vitally important as St. Anthony relies on income from charitable contributions to help reach a balanced budget each year. The Fund for St. Anthony is the primary avenue through which we fill the gap between the cost of providing an exemplary education for each student and the amount paid for tuition. The Fund for St. Anthony is made up of hundreds of gifts from St. Anthony of Padua parishioners, parents, alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends.Â

THE LEADERSHIP SOCIETY The Leadership Society is a group of lead benefactors to the Fund for St. Anthony, who through their generosity demonstrate a commitment to the ideals and mission of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School. CELESTE AND SHANE FRUGÉ Our school is happy to honor Celeste and Shane Frugé as the recipients of the St. Anthony of Padua Founder's Award. Celeste and Shane made a long-term and significant impact on our school community. Before the school opened Celeste was a part of the founding Education Council; writing the original mission statement and serving on the search committee to interview founding principal Reneé Nunez.

Celeste served several terms on the former Education Council and School Advisory Committee and has been influential in policy development for our school. Shane has been involved with our former Booster Club, assisted with our softball and baseball teams, and serves regularly as a sacristan within our parish. For the Fruges, being a part of St. Anthony is a family affair, reaching extended family who continually support the school as volunteers and benefactors. Their youngest child was a part of the class of 2019 at St. Anthony. Celeste and Shane’s steady support advances the school and has made an enduring effect on our St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School community.

PHILOSOPHY

St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School, in partnership with parents, is focused on the continuous formation of the whole Christian person. Our learner-centered curriculum maintains high academic standards and nurtures the development of a life-long love of learning. Students are actively engaged through the use of a variety of instructional methods and emerging technologies that promote collaboration and higher level thinking skills.
