ST. ANN PARISH

e Apse mural replaces the existing Trans guration mural with one that is inspired by Italian renaissance master Raphael.

During the Trans guration, Christ’s appearance transformed and became glorious, in dazzling white. e Trans guration of Jesus represents a promise of what is to come, Hope. Hope, because he will soon conquer over sin and death, and be raised in the fullness of glory.
Christ is at the center, to His le and right are the prophets, Moses and Elijah. Below Christ are three disciples (from le to right, James, Peter and John) on top of the mountain shielding their eyes from the radiance of Jesus. Two martyrs St. Felicissimus and St. Agapitus of Palestrina are kneeling to the le of the mountain, next to a tree. Beneath the mountain on the right is an ailing child presented by his two parents and disciples pleading for help towards Christ. In the foreground, to the le of the child, is a women kneeling before the Apostles pointing to the child, and gazing towards the empty space, to signify being lled with Jesus. To the le of the women are disciples, one consulting a book to possibly nd a solution to cure the boy, while the others are pointing to Christ and the child.

In order to draw our eyes to the Sanctuary, the proscenium arch which frames the apse features an elevated decorative scheme. Serving to support the Lamb of God mural at the very top, the arch is adorned with Trompe l’oeil borders, intricate scrolls, and a banner inscribed with the Latin phrase HIC EST FILIUS MEUS DILECTUS IN QUO MIHI BENE CONPLACUIT IPSUM AUDITE which translates to THIS IS MY BELOVED SON WITH WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED, LISTEN TO HIM.

DOME MURAL

At the center of the dome mural, is the Assumption of Mary. e Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary depicts her completing the course of her earthy life being taken up into Heaven.
Within the dome mural, there are eight Romanesque dome lunettes to signify new beginning, new life, and resurrection. A er His Resurrection, Jesus appeared eight times over a 40-day period before He ascended into Heaven.
