2025 Report on Giving

Page 1

Dear St. Anne’s School Community,

During the 2024-25 school year, we collectively cultivated connections to leverage the growth and development of students and the overall health of the St. Anne’s School community.

Engagement in the School’s top giving priority, the Constellation Fund, was the highest it has been in recent years. Our Board of Trustees showed great leadership with 100% participation and over $100,000 donated to the Constellation Fund. Our staff, parents, alumni, grandparents, local businesses, organizations, and friends also stepped up in very meaningful ways to surpass our goal of $300,000 in support of programmatic needs at the School. We are also grateful to our Fun(d) Run volunteers and donors for getting students moving in support of Constellation Fund donations.

Giving was also robust for our mission-critical Equity in Education Scholarship. Approximately $94,000 was given directly to the School in support of the scholarship, and an additional $232,000 was raised at this year’s annual Auction and Gala, Prom Night in support of the Equity in Education Scholarship Endowment in partnership with the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County. Our community’s generosity, in alignment with our mission and values, is extraordinary.

With great enthusiasm, the Board of Trustees launched an endowment campaign, Journey Forward Together, which received resounding initial support resulting in $1,570,000 committed during the 2024-25 school year. Eleven leadership donors gave in transformational ways to set a strong foundation for future endowment giving. The largest donation, $500,000, resulted in the naming of our refreshed library space: The Henrik and Britta Rasmussen Library.

Overall, 1,151 total gifts were made during the 2024-25 school year. We honor, celebrate, and appreciate the depth of gratitude, generosity, and commitment so many have made to meet the School’s programmatic needs while also fueling our dreams.

With sincerest gratitude,

Jake Rasmussen

history of the equity in education scholarship

Twelve years ago, Besse and Nate Rose chose St. Anne’s School for their children, drawn by its small class sizes, warm and inclusive community, emphasis on character and human development, and steadfast commitment to diversity.

In the fall of 2020, the Roses met with Head of School Connie Coker to express their desire to help make a high-quality St. Anne’s School education accessible to marginalized and underrepresented students in Annapolis—particularly those whose families may not have the financial means to afford it. From this conversation, the Equity in Education Scholarship (EES) was born.

In 2021, the Roses generously funded not one, but two EES Scholars—and ensured that EES support would extend far beyond tuition costs, covering all school-related expenses including activity fees, school supplies, athletic and school uniforms, instrument rentals, daily lunch, and transportation. This comprehensive support model was intentionally designed to remove financial barriers and create a sustainable, equitable pathway for EES Scholars to thrive from Sixth Grade through Eighth Grade Graduation—a period of pivotal development for adolescents.

Thanks to the vision and generosity of the Roses—and the ongoing support of all EES donors—this impactful initiative has already benefited four St. Anne’s School Graduates and two current EES Scholars, opening doors to opportunity and lasting transformation.

equity in education scholarship (ees)

“The Equity in Education Scholarship has shifted my life entirely. The generosity that the sponsor was able to give me just meant so much to me. This school means a lot; it taught me a lot academically wise and expanded my horizon, I met some amazing people, and I made a lot of great memories here. Thank you for the opportunity you’ve given me as some people aren’t as fortunate. I’m hoping to pass it on when I’m older and give someone else the opportunity to receive an education.”

- Amy Lopez-Cruz, Class of 2024

RAISED FOR THE EQUITY IN EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

One of our most important, and impactful, funds is the Equity in Education Scholarship (EES), a need-based scholarship awarded to an Upper School (rising Sixth Grade) student covering 100% of the cost to attend St. Anne’s School through their Eighth Grade graduation. This Scholarship, started in 2020, aims to give underrepresented minorities an opportunity to attend St. Anne’s School that they otherwise would not have had.

The Equity in Education Scholarship not only benefits the students and families who receive the Scholarship, the intent behind it creates a stronger, more representative community at St. Anne’s School and will ultimately impact the greater Annapolis area as our students go out into the world.

To date, we’ve had four EES Scholars graduate and move on to soaring adventures in high school. Our EES Scholars are athletes, musicians, and community activists.

We are proud to announce that in January 2024, we created an endowment fund at Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County to further support the Equity in Education Scholarship. To date, we have raised over $300,000 for the Endowment and continue to look for ways to grow this important fund.

In September 2024, the St. Anne’s School’s Board of Trustees proudly launched Journey Forward Together—a visionary campaign to establish a Trustee-restricted endowment dedicated to securing the School’s long-term financial strength.

To date, we have raised more than $1.5 million toward this vital initiative. This growing endowment will help ensure the economic stability and sustainability of St. Anne’s School for generations to come, preserving the excellence of our programs and the promise of a St. Anne’s School education for every Star.

During the State of the School Address in January 2025, Head of School Connie Coker announced the incredible progress made toward the Trustee Endowment to faculty, staff, trustee endowment

restricted giving

Also important to the philanthropic landscape at St. Anne’s School is restricted giving. It allows for specific, unbudgeted campus upgrades and programmatic initiatives. We are grateful for the donors who gave to restricted funds throughout the year.
