St. Anne's School's 203-24 Report on Giving

Page 1

Dear St. Anne’s School Community,

The 2023-24 school year was one of Sustained Joy Through new beginnings alongside celebration of the School’s 30th year as an independent school, we elevated the academic, social, and spiritual experience during the most formative years of students’ lives.

And during this year our community gave their time, treasure, and talent with joy. The School’s top philanthropic priority is the Constellation Fund, and we are nourished by full support from the Board of Trustees, by ever increasing participation in giving from our faculty and staff, and by committed parents, grandfriends, alumni, friends, businesses, and partner organizations. Engagement in the Constellation Fund was swift and elevated out of the gate last year. As a community we reached 75% of our goal by the end of the calendar year and were boosted by increased giving to exceed our $275,000 goal by the end of the school year. Reaching our fundraising goal early establishes necessary momentum during the school year for our extraordinary educators and robust program.

The School’s annual Auction and Gala exceeded all goals, which not only supported critical operational needs but also allowed us to reimagine the School’s Library as an innovative and collaborative learning and meeting space. Our refreshed Library debuted at the start of the 2024-25 school year. In addition to being in greater aesthetic alignment with mind-braineducation research and our program philosophy, this inspiring space is a palpable reminder of the generosity of so many in our community.

Of important note, last year the School launched an Endowment in partnership with the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County for the School’s Equity in Education Scholarship. This opportunity for giving opens the door to a St. Anne’s School education, affirms our mission, and allows our story to be told more widely in a broad community of diversified philanthropists. We are especially grateful to the founding donors of this endowment and are appreciative of the commitment from external donors to its growth.

As the joyful journey at St. Anne’s School continues, we will continue to cultivate connections with one another to uplift our institution and raise good humans. Donors are an integral part of the St. Anne’s School story, and we thank you, sincerely, for your steadfast support. As we journey forward, we express continued gratitude to philanthropists who not only help us meet the School’s needs, but also help to ignite our dreams.

With sincerest gratitude,

Besse Rose

Dear Generous Donors,

The joy on our students’ faces when they enter our new Library is inspiring. The new Library is beautiful, bright, and allows for so much flexibility. Our Library is a place where connections are made. We host storytime, classes, community gatherings, and faculty meetings and celebrations within the Library walls, and now it reflects the same joyful spirit that it so often contains.

Thank you for making the Library renovation possible!

Sincerely,

Associate Head of School for Innovation & Learning

“The Equity in Education Scholarship has shifted my life entirely. The generosity that the sponsor was able to give me just meant so much to me. This school means a lot; it taught me a lot academically wise and expanded my horizon, I met some amazing people, and I made a lot of great memories here. Thank you for the opportunity you’ve given me as some people aren’t as fortunate. I’m hoping to pass it on when I’m older and give someone else the opportunity to receive an education.”

- Amy Lopez-Cruz, Class of 2024

RAISED FOR THE EQUITY IN EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT

equity in education scholarship

One of our most important, and impactful, funds is the Equity in Education Scholarship (EES), a need-based scholarship awarded to a Middle School (rising Sixth Grade) student covering 100% of the cost to attend St. Anne’s School through their Eighth Grade graduation. This Scholarship, started in 2020, aims to give underrepresented minorities an opportunity to attend St. Anne’s School that they otherwise would not have had.

The Equity in Education Scholarship not only benefits the students and families who receive the Scholarship, the intent behind it creates a stronger, more representative community at St. Anne’s School and will ultimately impact the greater Annapolis area as our students go out into the world.

To date, we’ve had two EES Scholars graduate and move on to soaring adventures in high school. Our EES Scholars are athletes, musicians, and community activists.

We are proud to announce that in January 2024, we created an endowment fund at Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County to further support the Equity in Education Scholarship. To date, we have raised over $80,000 for the Endowment and continue to look for ways to grow this important fund.

Also important to the philanthropic landscape at St. Anne’s School is restricted giving. It allows for specific, unbudgeted campus upgrades and programmatic initiatives. We are grateful for the donors who gave to restricted funds throughout the year.
