With great excitement, I present the 2018 Annual Report, a reflection of the tremendous generosity that embraces the St. Anne community. Teachers, staff, parents, grandparents, alumni, parishioners, community partners and friends, contributed to the year’s success that resulted in enhanced classroom experiences, community building opportunities, and strengthened spiritual growth. Thank you! With the time, talent and treasure of a committed support network, St. Anne continues to shine in the light of the Basilian tradition, of
“Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge.”
This year’s accomplishments included scoring above the 80th %ile on the ACRE test for 5th and 8th graders on Catholic knowledge and doctrine. Students completed more than 1000 hours on social justice ministry across all grades. Academically, students excelled on the IOWA Assessment as indicated by national percentile rankings, and in particular Cluster 5. In our 8th grade, students thrived in year one of Intro to Algebra and Algebra I class, which enabled the math program to meet the students individual needs. To document language arts development, writing samples will be collected yearly to create student digital portfolios. Additionally, formative assessments were introduced that allow teachers to benchmark student performance in both ELA and Math. In the arts, the story of Mary Poppins came alive by St. Anne student actors, set designers, and stage crews, who gave two performances to a packed house. Numerous students participated and were awarded ribbons in the HLSR art competition.
The summer break allowed for a redesign of the entire computer lab. The new space provides a better computer layout and a more functional teaching space to accommodate all grades. To complete the integration of cyber-safety education and digital citizenship into the curriculum, parents were also provided information by Crime Stoppers to continue the discussion at home. Congratulations to our graduating 9th graders! 98% of St. Anne 8th grade students were accepted to their first choice high school. Catholic high schools include St. Thomas High School, Incarnate Word Academy, St. Agnes Academy; St. Pius X High School, Strake Jesuit College Preparatory, Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart. Public high schools include: Lamar High School, High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, Debakey High School, Episcopal High School, and Phillips Academy Andover. Finally, four St. Anne alumni were named National Merit Finalists in the Class of 2015, including one alumnus who was named the salutatorian of St. Thomas High School. This year’s Annual Report describes only the surface of the many wonderful blessings that occur on campus daily, almost all of which occur because of you. Thank you for supporting St. Anne. FIESTA
2018
In 1948, the Saint Anne Catholic Community hosted the first church bazaar, now known as FIESTA. Father Higgins asked Patti Ruth Linbeck to chair the event and the proceeds would benefit the new school cafeteria and junior high buildings. The first year over 300 turkey dinners were sold to raise about $3,000. 70 years later, it is with the very same mission that the St. Anne FIESTA continues to be a beloved parish-wide event, successfully raising money for a Catholic education for both St. Anne students and parishioners. Generations of St. Anne families celebrated 70 years of FIESTA, a beloved St. Anne tradition. When students sell raffle tickets, they serve as active fundraisers on behalf of their school. Parishioners also generously support FIESTA with raffle sales and by giving their time. Community partners sponsor and make in-kind donations. St. Anne ministries rally their members to work booths and cook some of the most delicious carnival food in Houston! It takes every part of our community to organize FIESTA. St. Anne is blessed to have one that, for generations, stands confidently behind the Basilian ideals of “Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge.” Underwriting, raffle ticket sales and the revenue raised on the day of FIESTA raised

Every St. Anne student and staff person feels the impact of the St. Anne Annual Fund.
Every day your gift makes a difference Annual Fund contributions support the school’s greatest needs and impact each student by providing the means for quality academic, religious, and co-curricular programming. Tuition only covers about 80% of the cost of educating a student. The remaining 20% is dependent
on non-tuition revenue sources, like the Annual Fund and FIESTA. Grandparents, alumni, parishioners, St. Anne families, faculty and staff all contributed to a successful 2018-2019 Annual Fund campaign, successfully raising over $180,000. The Annual Fund Day of Giving contributed over $20,000 in 24 hours! Your tax-deductible gift helps St. Anne continue to foster the mission of nurturing students in the Basilian tradition of “Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge.” As good stewards of Annual Fund donations, St. Anne ensures that $.92 of every donated dollar goes directly to the Annual Fund, thus keeping tuition affordable.

STEPS FOR STUDENTS A little drizzle could not keep Team St. Anne from participating in the largest walk/run of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, Steps for Students. Steps for Students provides a platform that enables Catholic schools in the Archdiocese to raise funds for their own specific needs. At St. Anne, Steps for Students supports the Annual Fund, which translates to tangible classroom enhancements and enriching experiences for our students and faculty.

GRANDPARENTS DAY St. Anne was honored to host so many grandparents and special guests on campus during Grandparents Day, which commemorates grandparents interest in the lives and education of their grandchildren. During mass, the entire St. Anne community united in prayer for our grandparents. St. Anne is deeply appreciative of our grandparent’s role in supporting a legacy of learning.
